Today at 11:14am we get a phone call from Yoli the manager that they didn't know we were in this room and that we are supposed to be checked out (even though standard check out time is 12pm). We specifically booked this hotel because they were letting us check out til 2pm. We had online meetings with clients scheduled til 2pm and here comes Yoli calling our room with a very unprofessional demeanor. Couldn't even comprehend the situation they had put us in. Telling us that she didnt even know we were in here was a total joke. What, did you think we just made our own room keys?? Im glad i booked it only for one night. It was great for the price but inconvenient because of management staff like Yoli, who is intellectually underwhelming. Would've paid $30 more somewhere else had we known we couldn't check out at 2pm. On top of the inconvenience, i have to mention that blankets were stained with old blood maybe? and a towel was also stained, i dont want to event think about. How they think its okay to put that in the room is beyond me. Though overall just keep in mind the type of people you will be dealing with if you book here. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The towels and sheets smelled like they had been recently laundered. The hot water ran out within a minute or two of starting my shower. Through the night there was a knocking similar to the sound of hot water going through cold pipes. The receptionists were polite. The breakfast was pretty standard, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, waffles juice and milk. They had a good selection of breads including bagels. They did not have decaf coffee. We were returning from Vegas after a week long conference. We were both exhausted and needed to rest. We had booked our overnight at this hotel and went in to inquire the cost for early checkin and cost. (We were earlier than expected due to an issue in Vegas). The service was terrible. When we went to check in around 9pm, they said they could not find our reservation. That being the case and filled with disappointment, we decided to get back on the road and travel. about 1/2 hour later and 20 miles down the road, we got a phone message from the hotel saying that they found our reservation, and that they were very sorry, and that someone had misspelled our last name. We told them that we were 20 miles down the road, and were not turning around and going back. we told them to make sure we were not charged, and all would be fine. They charged us for a room! We needed to take a break in driving on a very busy Thanksgiving week. We arrived pretty late and all we wanted to do is sleep!! The room itself was fine. Nothing fancy at all!! The towels were very very rough and small. Overall the room was clean. Some areas of the walls need a good wipe down or fresh paint. For the price of the room I could care less. This place has some poor reviews, many of which are pretty old. My wife and I stayed here before Christmas on our drive across country with our pet dog. This is one of the few pet friendly places in Tehachapi. We had such a great experience at such a great value that we stayed here again on our return trip back to the Bay Area (from Texas). Rooms are clean, large, nice TV, pet friendly, and newly refurbished. I would stay here any time. Added plus are the two restaurants across the parking lot- Sushi or Mexican. The sushi place- Midori Sushi & Grill- is surprisingly good for being inland. The only possible issue could be the number of contractors and road crews that are stay here overnight, so they are active pretty early in the morning. I booked thru booking.com. I thought I was booking into the Best Western right next door, which is where I wanted to stay. When I went to the one I was actually reserved for, I immediately smelled stall cigarettes. It was disgusting. The receptionist had an attitude right away. I asked if I could get transferred the the location next door and pay the difference, she said no. I reluctantly checked in here. I went to the room and it was dirty and smelled. Driving back home with my cat so we stopped here for a night because they allow pets (they charge a fee). First room I checked into had not been cleaned. I mean trash, used bedsheets and dirty bathroom. Whatever it's late I thought so I asked for another room. First inspection lifting the sheets and such everything looked *fine* obviously this is not a five star hotel so I can overlook some scuffs and how run down the place is. But at around 5 in the morning I saw a bed bug right next to my pillow. Don't stay here! I will never trust another best western, this was a horrible experience and now I have to stay longer in this town to wash all of my clothes! A terrible place to stay. I thought this would be my stopover when passing through on my trips, but unfortunately it will not be. The rooms are inconsistent and often leaning toward unkept. Food and other trash items left in the room from previous guests, stained sheets, clearly not swept or mopped floors, BEDBUGS in one of the rooms I stayed in, all of the showers leak ALL OVER the floors of the rooms, and the staff/management that work here are TERRIBLE. They charge unmentioned fees without talking to you first, will say you can make a reservation and then cancel it right after without talking with you, without warning or explanation. Was almost not allowed to stay because they thought I was a local.. If you accidentally leave anything in the room, you will never get it back. And they charge a pet fee, per pet, per night. The price is not worth the stay or the dramatic, high school like dealings of the management - particularly Yolanda. Who will actually tell you one thing in person, and then do something completely different behind your back. I'm always worried I'm going to wake up to an unexpected charge on my bank account whenever I stay here. And they always call at 8am if they have any questions about anything, so so much for sleeping in. I recently was told I was put on the do not rent list, after talking to Yolanda IN PERSON about my upcoming reservation that same day, and she said nothing! It was only when I went to check in an hour later with someone new at the front desk, that I was told this, and was not given a reason why. Was just told "I don't know why, I just can't rent you the room". Ridiculous. The only "issue" Ive ever caused was checking out late. Which I realize is an issue, but not worthy of getting put on the do not rent list. I would just save yourself the possible future headache and stay somewhere else. I'm sorry I can't give a better rating to this hotel because the staff here is very friendly and the room and property is very clean. All around, it's a nice place to stay the night. The staff was very welcoming when he pulled in at 9 pm, with no reservations, and we were given a room and enough space to park our RV. I know staying at a hotel with a perfect RV and also so close to home doesn't make any sense, but that's a whole 'nother story. So with all the good said, the one complaint I have here is the floors and walls are so thin you can hear everything that's going on in the rooms next to and above yours. Never again! A Sure Stay it is not. After driving all day and arriving tired, at check-in we were told they gave our reserved King suite room away. And the hotel was fully booked. Totally unacceptable! Apparently a reservation is not a reservation at this Best Western. We were told there was a room for us and our small dog at another Best Western next door that does not normally allow pets. But the room was a downgrade to just a regular King room, not a suite, where with a suite I could watch the news or read in the morning separate from my wife who likes to sleep in. I will never stay or should I say attempt to stay at the Sure Stay (it ain't) Best Western in Tehachapi again! ATTN: I just got an extra $500 charge from this place NOT AUTHORIZED. Friends and I attend a western history event every year in this town on Memorial Day weekend every year. We've stayed here the past 4 years with my service dog as it's across the street from a VFW where the event is hosted. My experience last year was rough with the Yoli, the manager, refusing to give me the non-smoking room I had booked, using the excuse that "you booked off expedia and we are not responsible for honoring 'requests' from expedia," (the request being for a non-smoking room). The hotel owner then got involved and threatened to not rent to me at all, stating that she knew all rooms in town were full. So THIS year I booked my King-non-smoking strait through Best Western to avoid any confusions about 'requests.' I also ask for a rolling cot since they had been sold out of larger rooms. So I get to my room and its a SMOKING QUEEN room.... I didn't even bother going down to talk to Yoli as I already knew how that would go. I figured It wasn't worth ruing my afternoon. I also NEVER received the cot. Like I said, my service pup (SheRa) and I have not been bothered the past 3 years.... until now... Saturday morning we walked into breakfast in the lobby, right in eyeline to the front desk because I'm doing nothing wrong!!! SheRa has her vest on- clearly labeled, she lays by my feet like she is suppose to do, I talk to friends and Yoli yells from the front desk to someone in our group something about the dog, she doesn't come talk to me she just hollars at some woman at our table interrupting the conversation! So I peek my head out from the table and smile and say "she's just working mam," and go back to our conversation. I grab my coffee a bit later and leave and that is the last of it until Sunday. I then had 3 friends come to stay. 2 ARMT Vets and 2 PTSD dogs came to visit for the night. We brought crates for when the animals were in the room, and the animals were in fully marked vests. No one said a peep Saturday when they saw us with them, but Sunday Morning as we are standing on the balcony having a smoke here comes Yoli yelling from the parking lot asking how many pets we had, to which our army buddy says "we have no pets and also no children mam," I hollared down smiling, "we have service animals," Yoli hollared back "it's $200 for not telling us." She ran back inside. We had one more night there, I went to breakfast the following morning, right next to the front desk and Yoli said nothing. So I'll update if I get them to refund this charge. This should go without saying but, we had no noise complains and there's no damage had in anyway, human or animal. If Best Western Sure-stay fails to rectify this situation it will result in further action on my part, such as filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities or seeking legal advice. This DUMP is disgusting! First, the desk clerk was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Then, When I entered my room, the horrible smell was overwhelming. I had to request that the housekeeper, who happened to be outside, spray the room. Then, as I was leaving to go eat, I heard something metallic fall to the floor inside when the door closed. When I returned I found that the "security latch" had fallen off...just by the closing of the door. I then went to use the toilet. When I opened the lid, there was urine and toilet paper in the toilet. Not only did the previous occupant not flush the toilet, but obviously housekeeping didn't clean the toilet!!! I was originally booking into the Best Western next door. I have a legitimate service dog. When I went to check in, I was told that they, "...couldn't take pets, even if it's a service dog." I was told that my reservations were for the facility next door, where pets are allowed. Obviously an ADA violation. When I woke up in the morning, discovered what looked like a large roach on the bathroom floor. When I went to retrieve my hat from a table, another fell out of it. Stay away. If you're contemplating this place or another please go with the other. First I will start with the good. This place takes dogs, the rooms were a decent size, beds were clean as well as the linens, but other things could have been cleaner. The breakfast was actually not bad, had good and convenient options even though they were not all available at 6am. Now the not so good, staff is terrible. Did I say terrible? I meant awful. I'm speaking about Yoli who seem to have her shift til 3pm. The staff that starts at 3pm barely knew any English so thats not very helpful. However, they were extremely nice and sweet compared to Yoli. I'd rather take the language barriers over dealing with Yoli. This is a place for dogs, however there is no designated area for them. Our ac and other family members acs smelled like mildew. The remote control didn't work, we asked for a roll out bed and never got it, we ended up using a bench that was in the closet that was full of dog fur, so I assume thats for dogs, but it still should have been clean. The ice machine didn't work, not even an out of order sign on it. Outdoor vending machine didn't work either. Pretty frustrating when we were told we couldn't check in til 3pm (I know thats not out of the ordinary) however when arriving early to other places usually we can pay extra. This place was not fully booked, and Yoli could have let us come in sooner, but was a total you know what about it. She said it was because our room was being cleaned, she didnt even ask what room, or reservation it was for so how would she know. our room did not smell freshly cleaned so it was all a bunch of bs. It was 214 something for not even a full 24 hours, I dont think thats cheap especially after dealing with her. By her actions and attitude we were ready to cancel the room, but couldn't find dog friendly places so we stayed. But I had family members cancel their rooms with this place simply because of her treatment. we checked in just before three with the 3pm shift. I thought she'd tell me id have to wait EXACTLY at three but she didn't. I made sure I was there right before three because Yoli said there's "a long line of check ins" lol there wasn't a soul there but the friendly young lady changing shifts with yoli and yoli clocking out with a sarcastic smirk on her face. The nice girl with no English didn't charge the card right and payment at first didn't seem to go through but later it did, and had to cancel the other. Apparently its 7-10 business days for a refund, which I had to find out about a week later when I called which was today. I had the tremendous pleasure of speaking with Yoli yet again, I was completely friendly until I realized it was her and I knew that by her attitude. I explained why I was calling and she tried to tell me there was no record of us staying there. I said well I did stay there, I'm not lying I have the refund receipt right here. after that I gave the other name it may have been under and her response was a raised tone, and "you need to get your facts straight!" I said "no! you need to get your facts straight, we stayed there, and I wanna know about my refund." then she says "do you have your receipt? I said yea its in front of me, I give her the folio number and then she finds that we were there I said what is your name, are you the manager? (I still dont know if she really is but that is what she told my family) She said "I already gave you my name remember?" And I said no you must have given I to someone else how do you spell it? she scoffs and said "Yo-li" with sarcasm like im dumb because I dont know how to spell. (I honestly thought she had said Yuri, which is why I asked her to spell it. And im sure its Yolanda) After I finally got her name I said it's Yoli? she laughed and said yes, I said you think this is funny? She yelled through the phone, at this point I tuned her out, no idea what she said. I said what is your last name? she calmed herself down, and she said "I don't have to talk to you anymore" I see there is quite a few reviews on here that are not bad, so that makes me happy because id hate for anyone to encounter with this woman. Dear Owner, is it so hard to find a nice person to be your manager? you seriously can hire the non English speaking front desk employees to run this place with fewer complaints. I am totally flabbergasted at why this hotel has such low ratings. We had a wonderful lady that checked us in. The rooms are beautiful, clean and huge. We have a fridge, microwave, couch, chair and desk as well as a very nice TV and comfy large bed. I am one of those people that check the room out for cleanliness and the bed for bed bugs. Everything was clean and we are just very happy with our choice of staying here for the night. We went to the beer festival and wanted to make sure we stayed close by instead of driving home. We have a group that stays at this location every year as part of a 3-4 day long train watching event. Usually 4-6 rooms are booked by people in our Calrailfans Group. My immediate group always gets 1 room with 2 queen beds and a rollaway bed. The hotel knows this as we've been doing this for 10 years. This trip, we arrived and were told that they did not have the rollaway bed. The young girl refused to look for any alternatives, refused to look us in the face and explain why the hotel failed to honor the investigation. This was on Friday 10.16.2020. It left us scrambling to find alternative lodging which we did at substantial cost. It also separated us from the rest of our group as the alternate lodging was at Holiday Inn Express. Now today, members of our group were talking with the hotel manager who knows our group are regulars and expressed surprise as lo and behold, they did in fact have the rollaway beds and this should never have happened. To say we are extremely disappointed in this turn of events and the fact that we had substantial extra cost to our lodging because of this. The manager said that it was past the cut off time to cancel the reservation, but did not even try to make things right with me. She was rude and called me a liar for saying we found roaches. Made a reservation, received a confirmation, and when we arrived I was told by Mia we had no reservation. Told me me I used Booking.com to make the reservation and I would need to contact them directly. I informed her I went directly thru Best Western and she questioned that. After sending my confirmation twice to "her boss," it was finally acknowledged we had a reservation. When asked where the room was, Mia sent us on a wild goose hunt. Did I mention the posse of desert roaches I found in the bath room as I turn on the light at 3am? Well there were apparently thirsty cause I found them all running to the back of the toilet water tank. I took the lid off to try to take video to show management later that morning. Front desk person I encountered was rude. And made it seem like I showed them roaches how to do them hiding tricks. My follow up call to this person after I checked out the person said the housekeeping manager and their maintenance person did not see any roaches. Then I said lady them things don't come out till you turn out all the lights. Ask any one who ever encounter this things at a roach motel see how many see them during the middle of the day. We made reservations online, but when we showed up the desk clerk was turning on the TV to watch a baseball game and she couldn't find them, going back and forth between a stack of papers and the computer. She wanted to charge us again, until we proved we had already paid. She gave us the keys and we opened the door to an occupied room! Yup, someone else already had checked in. Back at the front counter the clerk said it wasn't her fault, like it was mine and the only room she had available was a smoking room. My stay was great as I arrived late (9pm) and the young woman took my ID and credit card to finish a quick check-in. We booked a King Bed and the room was sufficient and clean. Our return trip through a week later not so great at all. The Manager "Yoly" was rude on the phone when we asked if we could stay in the same room. Her response to most things were "for one thing" over and over again. When she notified me at check-in that they only except pet's in certain rooms Not including the King Bed rooms I was disappointed. She gave me the option of a double Bed or queen. I said queen thinking it'll be the easiest for My Pet and partner. When I walked out to car to notify my partner of the circumstances he said he'd prefer the double bed room. Without entering or using the key to the queen room I had chosen I asked Yoly if I could switch it to the double bed room. She wanted to charge me for the queen room and deal with Booking.com with the cancelation of the other... yeah I know!!! I left in a huff and She said she'll return my $30.00 dog deposit and I would need to cancel with Booking. Well now four (4) days later I get a banking charge on my Visa for $160.92. She charged the room anyway . I called to no avail as she was as stubborn as the Mule she resembled. Don't ruin your Day at this place. Had a great stay at the Hotel across Flying J with a Wendy's and Cinnabon store. Pup's Happy too! read more

The price is decent for the location. Great room & amenities. Most of all: EXCELLENT service from the front desk Miss Samantha who went over, above & beyond to make my stay pleasant. She was friendly, accommodating and sweet mannerisms. Kudos to this SureStay Hotel for having employee such as she. read more

I booked prepaid a king size suite through hotels.com. We have a service dog for my husbands PTSD. The website states "Pet Friendly" however the receptionist said no pets allowed in their suite. The website didn't specify that. Additionally this hotel shares parking lot with public businesses. Will never stay here again and do not recommend to anyone. I read more

A huge "dog-friendly" rip-off! $60 for two tiny, well-behaved Chihuahuas and they don't even give you a dog bag. Robbery! $204 for one night. Room was clean. Breakfast a joke. Stay anywhere else. read more

The WORST motel I have EVER seen. We got to the hotel at 10 pm. Check in was ok. No problems, girl was aloof but we didn't mind. Went to our first room 102 (I believe) checked for bedbugs before bringing our things in. As we were bringing our stuff in we see this HUGE cockroach at the foot of the bed. We picked the big up and brought it up to the front desk and all she had to say was ewww can you get that our of here. We demanded to change rooms and we to the second room. It had black hair all over the sink! And water damage to the boards on the floor. We told the girl at the front desk and she acted like we were inconveniencing her. The rooms were old and very stinky. I was literally in tears. We promptly left and checked in to holiday inn express and had a very pleasant stay. Because we booked with Expedia, we were not able to get a refund. We are going to have to call Expedia and try to work it out with them. I don't even really care if I have to eat the $130 it cost for the room. read more

My husband and I were broke down in our truck and we stayed at this hotel For 2 nights. It was clean, quiet and in a good location. They allow pets which was great since we had our dog with us. Nice place. read more

Dec 1, 2021 we stopped with our dog we couldn't get the price I saw online but the front desk was very helpful and after a military discount the price was doable. We were very tired from traveling and the bed was comfortable and clean the room not so much!! The bathroom door hardly closed the fit was tight by the toile. Yes there are trains that went by in the night but only heard one blow his horn too loud. Really no place to let your dog do their thing...won't stay again and the hair dryer did not work read more

Update: Just got off the phone with my credit card company and they are disputing the charge against Sure Stay By Best Western. This place is just a very disgusting hotel on the planet and the staff is deplorable. They can't even clean a hotel room at all. read more

horrible neighbors, playing music after 2 AM when I had to wake up at five for work. I specifically got the hotel because I have no AC or shower and needed the sleep. I called the front two different times and the issue was never resolved. The guest should have been asked to leave, instead of me having no choice but to suffer. read more
