Just stayed here for our son's graduation and it was perfect. We analyzed the choices throughly and concluded this was the best value. All the hotels are WAY overpriced for graduation. This was notably less expensive than the hotels close to the Capitol and not as cheap as the ones a little further out in the suburbs. This hit the sweet spot. Would definitely stay here again. PROS: Super clean and tidy everywhere; Fair value; No charge for parking; Handy free shuttle (that we used to go to Camp Randall for the big grad ceremony); Only a 20 minute walk to Camp Randall; Washer & dryer on several floors which was super helpful when we unexpectedly needed to wash a few things; Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful; Nice modest restaurant inside hotel; Sandwiched next to two busy street and I am a very light sleeper but had no problem w the noise (we were on University St side); Beds were comfortable; Fantastic food; AC wall unit performed just fine; Bathroom was in excellent shape w a shower only; Spectacular lunch place to eat across the street called Pasture and Plenty, what a find! Dirty hotel... hair in bathtub, sink and on toilet. Toilet had dried pee on it. Was told to talk to the manger in the morning because they didn't have anything they could offer me. I've stayed at probably 30-40 best western hotels. This one is clearly not a good one. I wish I could give it 0 stars. Mitch the front desk employee was literally useless. This BW was great! It was clean, the hot tub was hot and working, and the beds were comfortable. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. This place also has a shuttle that will take you anywhere within 2 miles for FREE from 7-11pm. My friends and I took it downtown and it was very convenient. The only thing I HATED about this place was the dinner food. It was awful, terrible, SOAKED in grease, inedible. I took one bite of mine and could not force myself to eat another. I can't tell you how disappointed I was in the food. I guess it's our bad for eating at the hotel restaurant, but still. It was so bad I felt they had to have done it on purpose lol. Nice enough place. I wish the fitness center was not closed until 6 am. Made it difficult to get a workout in before my meeting started. Plus the workout room is small. You are better off taking a walk outside. Breakfast is good. Staff is friendly. A group of us were in the bar and asked to leave at 10:30 because the bartender wanted to close. The sign outside say it is open until "close". I guess that is whenever the bartender decides to close. read more

I've stayed at this hotel three or four times over the years. It's convenient to the University & also to hospitals nearby so many people stay here while loved ones are in care nearby. Over time the accommodations have improved while prices have steadily increase. Breakfast is well-prepared & service is friendly. The restaurant is only adequate. I was surprised that maid service is provided only every three days. I don't know any other hotel this expensive that makes up rooms so seldom. Otherwise, I found the hotel to be acceptable & a good option if only because of location. read more

We stayed at this hotel over a weekend for a competition and the place was great! Zach who checked us in was a huge help and really friendly. He deserves a raise! The rooms were so clean and well kept, the bathrooms were great and the shower was so nice! The beds were comfy and they gave us 4 pillows which was great. Didn't go in the pool but it looked really clean! The continental breakfast was nice and had lots of options including some for a friend with gluten allergies. Overall really recommend! Location is great- close to UW Madison. Only thing is good luck finding parking haha read more

Pros: -Comfy beds, clean bathrooms, even if a bit outdated -Friendly staff -Breakfast is included Cons: -Older type of room layout; bathtubs instead of more modern showers. Other/tips: While you are a bit away from downtown, you are very close to the UW and VA hospitals. You can hop on a Metro Bus 2 to downtown right across the street. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Staff welcomed me warmly and were proactive in friendly chit chat. They cheerfully assisted when needed, as well. The room had everything I needed--hair dryer, mini frig, iron and ironing board, microwave and a Keurig coffee machine with plenty of coffee pods. The desk was perfect and the bed was comfy. The room was clean. There's free wifi, which worked great. Free breakfast was fresh, with plenty of options. Parking was free and ample. There are good restaurants within a short walking distance. The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and the University of Wisconsin Hospital are very close, too. There's free shuttle service, which can take you right to the hospitals and other locations. read more

I received bed bug bites after staying in this hotel and attempted to reach out to the management to request an inspection be done. Unfortunately, management didn't call me back - I had to call again the next day and was told that an inspection hadn't even been done yet, possibly putting other guests in the same situation I'm in. 30 minutes later, the manager called me back to let me know he'd done a visual inspection and saw no bugs. I asked that he call an actual pest company as my bites were quite extensive and are 100% bed bug bites. He declined and denied my refund. I now am dealing with the discomfort of the bites and spending a large amount of money on having my home inspected by professionals, something this hotel didn't even do. Based on my experience, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. Update to Jenny O. Hi Jenny! Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, some of the information you've written is untrue or misleading. You (the hotel) rejected the refund request from Hotels.com, leading me to spend hours going back and forth with them and Joe asking for this to be resolved. It is not true that you don't have power to issue the refund, as Hotels.com requires you approve it. Screenshot attached. I specifically requested via phone that a pest company be called to come out and Joe specifically said he would not do that. I understand why you're concerned about this review and want to paint yourselves in a better light, but as of this moment, I'm still on hold with Hotels.com still trying to get my refund. Within the first two hours of checking in, two maintenance workers used master keys to enter the room without knocking (once while I was in the shower). I heart you, Best Western Madison. Except for the fact that they failed to pick me up from the airport due to the slightly snowy condition, they delivered everything I looked for in a quality hotel. After having traveled to 4 different business sites across the state in a span of a month, this is by far my favorite on the list of hotels that I stayed at. Why? 1) Excellent customer service by the front desk 2) Excellent transportation service (I got a ride within 5 mins most of the time) 3) Yummy HOT breakfast 4) Quiet and clean room. Yea there are better hotels in Madison but the Inntowner is a good hotel if you have business on this side of town. The free airport shuttle and being able to walk to my client site is a big plus. Also having the Blue Moon and Lombardino's restaurants next door is a good thing! Their regular rooms are average at best and their Highland Club rooms are on par with say the Marriott concierge level. Their workout room is OK, it could use an update, but it is suitable for working off those Brats and Curds. The bar staff and front desk are very accommodating and have been very helpful during my past two visits. read more

Both times I visited Madison I stayed at this hotel. First time around was about two years ago during a University of Wisconsin interview. At this time they were renovating. The staff were highly accommodating, the hotel was very clean, an the free breakfast was very nice (much nicer than other continental breakfasts I have experienced). More recently, I stayed at this hotel while travelling to a wedding. The renovation turned out great with a modern sleek feel and the hotel now contains a restaurant. I really like this best western. Very clean new up to date. Rooms are comfortable. The shuttle service is great will pick up and drop off anywhere within 2 mile radius. The staff knowledgeable about the area. Didn't have sheets on pull out couch and were brought to our room by the front desk staff within 5 minutes. The bar food is good I recommend the bloody marry wow it was good. Check yelp for a free appetizer offer for the bar. The free breakfast was good. Overall I would come back for sure. If you come for a game they run a shuttle to the football stadium before and after each game. Free no use for uber with increased rates. You could walk to the stadium if you like. read more

If you want the shuttle to pick you up at the airport, try to make plans in advance. WOW! Not a 5 star hotel, but the staff doesn't know it. The customer care is amazing. No matter how beautiful a building, without good service a hotel is nothing. This place has amazing people working here. From the welcome from the smiling folks at the desk upon checking in to the nice lady from the office who drove us to the bus stop, (not her job, but the shuttle driver was elsewhere.) Everyone was just so very wonderful and pleasant. It made my mini-vacation feel like a much needed luxury. Room was very clean, with a recent update. Pool was a bit cold, but maintenance came out right away and made us very comfortable. The shuttle drivers are amazing! Full of info and suggestions. Wow..this place needs to be blown up and reconstructed. To start with I came here on business for one night. For some reason there was a huge line to check in, after finely checking in, I get to the room and the key didn't work..They eventually sent a maintenance worker to help get it to work. After getting into the room I wasn't much happier. There were two queen beds, and a tiny bathroom.......... My gripes with the room: 1. TV remote didn't work - you had to press the button 20 times for it to work once 2. Bathroom is extremely small 3. Limited hot water in the morning 4. Layout of the hotel is a pain Overall....If it was up to me, I wouldn't stay here...there are many more options in Madison. The one good thing about the hotel is the shuttle service to anywhere in a 2 mile radius...they will drop you off and pick you up. I checked in late on Christmas as we were called to UW hospital for a transplant. I asked for a room with a medical discount. I was given a room for $96. This motel provided a clean and quiet room for a fair price. The bed was comfy and even though my room was by the elevator it was pretty quiet, which is unusual. The bathroom was clean. The controls for the heat were hard to understand and change. The Keurig coffeemaker was hard to operate both mornings I was there. And I have operated Keurigs before. The breakfast food was ice cold unless you arrived at 6:30 when it was first put out. The fresh melons were very good, tho. But the eggs were powdered and that was disappointing. I contacted Best Western about the blatant disregard of our 2nd Amendment civil right to self protection, they shared my concern and stated they were requesting a response from the manager. They never responded to advise if our civil rights were restored here. In my state, a hotel room falls under the category of "your domicile" in regards to 2nd Amendment civil rights even if a proper no firearms sign is posted. Stay at your own risk. Can't say enough about this place. Bed and room was very comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I don't believe anyone stays here because they want too, most everyone was there due to a medical situation in their family. For me, my dog was in the CCU at UW. Restaurant was very good as well and not overpriced like most. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Kevin, the bartender while waiting for my food. We were in town for a wedding & stayed here for one night. The on-site parking is free & there were plenty of spaces available when we arrived. Check in was fairly painless; we appreciated the front desk guy running after us to give us new room keys as he forgot to program them. Our room was okay, however, the air was not on & it was really muggy. Other than that, our bed & pillows were comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. The breakfast buffet was pretty weak. The eggs were watered down; the hash browns were flavorless; the sausage was alright. The best thing we ate was a bagel. It definitely tasted like a free breakfast. This hotel was perfect for what we used it for; sleeping. If our stay was longer than a few hours, we'd have stayed elsewhere. read more

This is a phenomenal hotel to stay in when coming to Madison. There is a free shuttle to downtown and airport , hot complimentary buffet breakfast, swimming pool, fitness center, and restaurant. The hotel is owned by UW Hospital, so they are very accommodating to the patients and their guests. I have traveled all over this wonderful country and stayed in many hotels. This easily ranks among the worst. The staff is rude, the room has a weird stench if the AC is not on, and the "breakfast buffet" in the morning is a regimented affair with coffee canisters empty or spitting some weird, vaguely brown, lukewarm liquid. The staff will thrust a bag with unidentified contents at you if you do not wish to stay in the dirty, cluttered eating area, and tell you this is what you are "allowed" to take. Clearly this establishment benefits mightily from its location, so if there is a hotelier out there reading this I suggest you look into Madison as a likely place to put a comfortable inn.
