Date of stay: January 24-25, 2026 Room: 537 We needed a hotel near The Orpheum and when I booked the reservation I had no way to know that it was going to be so ridiculously cold that we weren't going to be able to walk there from here. But their local shuttle came in clutch for the ride there! Didn't love the front desk person with glasses and no name tag talk to us condescendingly about the shuttle for after our show. We weren't demanding it, we were asking what to do about potentially getting it because we didn't know how long the show would be. Aidan at check in was helpful and efficient, though I'm not quite sure what was an "upgrade" about our room. It was certainly nice, but judging from the pictures on the website, definitely still just a "room" and not a "suite," as there was no couch. The decor was very lovely and everything was in excellent condition, too. The bathroom was perfect for two people and the shower was excellent as well. The elevator could be a little slow, so if you can, consider taking the stairs as you'll definitely save some time especially if it's busy. The light up sign as you exited the elevator showing the time of day was very cool and I enjoyed getting to see it lit up in two different combinations. Gym is in great condition and very spacious, too! All in all, a worthy entry in terms of Madison hotels. read more

Happened to visit Madison during a busy weekend, there was a Wisconsin game, Packers game, and another big event all at once, so hotel prices were definitely up (ours came to about $500 for the night). Normally it's much more reasonable, though. Parking was a little confusing at first since it's not super clear where to go, but when I called the hotel, the staff was friendly and explained we could park in the garage behind the building for $20 a night through the hotel. Super easy once we found it, and I liked that you can use your key card for in-and-out access. Check-in was smooth and I loved they have a texting option if you need anything during your stay, very convenient! The room itself was clean, fresh, and had a few little surprises. I genuinely thought I was hearing music from the other room when I turned on the shower, but it turns out there's a bar in the shower that plays music when the water hits it, such a relaxing, spa-like touch. The TV even had a personalized welcome screen with my name, and as a rewards member, the late checkout was a super nice perk. The robes were clean, cozy, and perfect for lounging while getting ready. Location-wise, it's perfect! Right downtown and close to plenty of bars, restaurants, the capitol, and the Orpheum Theatre where we were going to. Uber and Lyft were easy to get, but the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service within a 3-mile radius, which is such a nice option. We didn't get to use it this time since it was first come, first serve, and even with scheduling the shuttle, timing didn't work out for us with their logistics and the game, but I love that they have it as a complimentary option. Security felt great too, the doors lock after a certain hour and require a key card for entry. In-room amenities were solid: a Nespresso for coffee, a spacious antique-style fridge, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! I slept so well. There were a couple minor hiccups, the streaming on the TV had audio issues (the front desk mentioned it's been an ongoing problem), and the small mirror light in the bathroom kept shutting off, but those were easy to overlook. We ended up getting the audio working. Overall, the room was spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, with a separate workspace, a lounging area, and a fun mix of vintage and modern decor. Loved the artwork, neon touches, and overall vibe. It was clean, safe, and full of personality. Definitely a spot I'd stay at again next time I'm in Madison! read more

This is a beautiful hotel. It's a former paint factory in downtown Madison. They have kept "industrial" details like exposed beams and added more industrial-style sconces. There was clearly lots of attention to detail, including a cute, retro-style mini fridge in my room for my leftovers. There are games in the lobby and a coffee station for grab-and-go coffees. Also a nice restaurant with full-service bar on the main floor where I enjoyed a delicious glass of wine. One of the main reasons that I picked this hotel was the free shuttle service. I was coming in town for Epic training and did not have a rental car. We set up an airport shuttle in advance, and the shuttle was already waiting for us when we left the baggage claim. It was a really nice shuttle too - immaculately clean, new van with leather seats. The shuttle we took to training and back was more of a small shuttle bus. It also took us to dinner and back, as well as the airport. Being from elsewhere, I was worried that I would be cold in the hotel room, but their thermostat was responsive and I was nice and warm, despite it being in the single digits outside. I made use of the warm bathrobe and high-quality toiletries, as well as the office desk and cable television. I enjoyed sleeping on their mattress so much that I am thinking of buying one for home because I got such high-quality sleep. I definitely plan to stay here again when I return to Madison. read more

I absolutely adore staying at any of the hotel Indigo's they go above and beyond to decorate fabulously and make the experience exceptional. What I love about this particular Indigo , is that they took an old paint factory and made it into a hotel while still paying homage to the paint factory and those people that made the paint factory work and important humans from Madison. I love a hotel that comes with history. The staff here were not at all inviting, and "luke warm" at best. They seemed a lot more conditioned and "call center vibe". Both the check-in staff and the checkout staff. Nobody seems like they actually wanted to speak to you or help you. But overall, I gave the hotel and the location at 10 out of 10 this is in an ideal location now that you can find a whole bunch of restaurants are bars located right by that are actually open I'm not sure what the timing is in Madison. What's wrong with this area? That businesses may can't survive but it's a very short walk to the downtown area and they have some historical buildings nearby there's a lot of free museums nearby so the location is really really good. The room was just lovely. It was so cutely decorated and it gave all the Omege again to it being a previous paint manufacturing place. The rims were quiet they were clean not much of a view from the windows from the room I was in, but that's okay. I slept for the night and then went out for the day. The shower was great. My only disappointment there was that all of the hotel indigos I've stayed in have had (MALIN+GOETZ) toiletry products in the bathroom. This is a product I love so much and one of the reasons I book at hotel Indigo. But not at this location they have a very manly scented toiletry products in there bathroom. So next time when I book here, I will ensure that I bring my own toiletry products because I don't wanna smell like a man, I'm a lady. read more

This was such a great hotel and not too unreasonably priced. I stayed here while in town for a friends wedding and the room was quite spacious. You can also easily walk to nearby restaurants or even catch the bus. I used the bus to get to downtown for the farmers market and it was super easy and quick to use. They also have a nice bar area where we grabbed some drinks after the wedding. I would definitely consider staying here again while in town. My only complaint would be the parking situation which is not included in the hotel cost and is not the most convenient as it is a garage not connected to the hotel. read more

This was our 2nd stay at Indigo and both visits were wonderful! This is a unique hotel that used to be the old Mautz Paint Company. Indigo did a fabulous job of designing every corner of the hotel, the rooms and restaurant/bar areas. Our room was clean, colorful, fun and quite. The bathrooms are amazing, featuring double sinks and dual shower heads. Very comfortable beds! Dinner and breakfast did not disappoint. What a fabulous experience from start to finish. We were able to check in early and Clark informed us of all the amenities such as a shuttle bus to the game and the specialty cocktail in the lobby. It use to be an old paint warehouse or something like that. So the theme of it circles around "painting" and it's absolutely sooo cute! Y'all it's sooo clean in there! From the first moment to the last this day was amazing. The parking was very easy, and reasonable. You could go in and out as much as you want for $20 a day. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful. People texted me in the first few hours to make sure I had everything that I needed. any requests I made we met immediately. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was well appointed. The room was excellently cleaned. The beds were superbly comfortable as where the pillows and the sheets. There's a refrigerator in every room. The TV was a little bit hard to figure out but I'm sure someone more technologically skilled could've figured it out. Each room has a Nespresso machine. That was a lovely addition. I cannot say enough about this hotel. read more

They did a fabulous job in converting the old paint factory into a beautiful boutique hotel. The art playfully uses the paint theme throughout the hotel. Nice retro fridge in the room with large screen television and lots of USB plug-ins for charging electronics. Good temperature control, comfortable bed, and wonderful shower instead of a bath with a shower curtain. Only complaints might be that the shower floor is very slippery with soft water and it would be nice to have a bottle of water or two because I don't care to drink soft water. Parking was included which was a big bonus and they less than a mile from the capital. read more

Everything! My entire stay from start to finish couldn't have been any better. Clean rooms, great decor, a shower to envy! The service is top-notch. I forgot a pair of sandals and shoes and they were able to send it USPS flat-rate. Honestly I can't wait for the next time I get the chance to stay here. By the way, check out the restaurant on the ground level. I had the 6oz tenderloin with grilled asparagus. The steak was cooked to perfection!! And I swear the asparagus almost stole the show. Never have I seen asparagus so green and thick. Definitely not your grocery store asparagus lmao. 10/10 read more

Love this hotel. The paint factory themed decor is so awesome, all the way through the hotel. I love the old school blue mini fridges in the rooms! So many unique and appealing features every where you look. It's usually pretty pricey but once in awhile in the slower months you can usually find a pretty good deal around $90-$120 on Priceline. They recently added a parking ramp, but it costs $16/day. However. I own a Kia and have already been a victim of the "Kia Boys" thefts and after finally getting my car back after 5 months and thousands of dollars in repairs, $16/day was nothing in comparison for a little extra feeling of security!!! Otherwise there is street parking and a small little gravel lot that is pretty vacant at night time. Staff was extremely kind and professional. Definitely recommend!! read more

Start with the negative, 1/9/24 - 1/13/24. In a Snow storm, hotel shuttle commuted myself and other guests to EPIC University (with an additional fee) in a rear wheel drive bus. THEY HAVE A GMC YUKON DENALI *** 4 WHEEL DRIVE ** in the GARAGE for other "types" of guests. Myself and the other riders got stuck in the snow and HAND PUSHED that crap van out of the snow. I REQUESTED THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE THEY SAID THE VAN WAS 4x4 AND IT IS NOT. WE GOT STUCK on our way back from dinner and we're fish tailing on the way back from EPIC. Which if you know snow and vehicles you only fish tail in a rear wheel drive. FRONT DESK staff was adamant the van was all wheel but it wasn't, even the drive said it was rear wheel. Ask the older white fella who's a driver usually wearing a baseball style cap and work boots he'll confirm the story unless management tells him otherwise. Or with reception, request the DENALI, the other vehicle they don't mention anywhere to shuttle you somewhere.. HOTEL- If you're going to shuttle someone in the snow have a 4x4, thanks. Positive - hotel bar had good drinks. PRO TIP - Don't go to RED SUSHI. read more

Loved our stay and would stay again! Hip, cool hotel with a super fun theme since they are in an old paint factory building. Definitely had a fun vibe. When we checked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and answered all my questions before I even asked! Rooms were great, again, fun, modern designs, cool retro mini fridge, nice sized bathroom with Aveda products. The TV had casting ability so you could stream from your phone. I choose this hotel since they allow dogs which is for a $50 fee per night. One of the more reasonable dog fees I found. Cherry on top was free parking and breakfast. Breakfast had lots of options, nothing super special here but plenty of grab and go items and then a few hot things from the kitchen - mostly microwavable type items, but it's free. Our experience at Hotel Indigo was wonderful! A former paint factory, this hotel embraces its history leans into the paint/artist aesthetic in a delightful manner. Although the restaurant was closed there were lots of other options only blocks away. The comfy conversation area has a fire pit and it's a great spot for watching people and their dogs. Additionally Carolina at the front desk was superb at handling a potential problem in the parking lot. She defused the situation like a professional and she should be commended. read more

I'm nearing the end of an 8-day stay. I'm an IHG Club Spire Elite & Inner Circle member, and I made my room reservation well in advance on the IHG website. I've stayed at many other Hotel Indigo properties, and also many other IHG properties, including Holiday Inn, Kimpton Hotel, Crowne Plaza, and the Palazzo in Vegas. Here are some notes regarding my stay: -- WiFi was excellent, and very fast. -- My King suite (small suite) room on the 4th floor was excellent: very bright, airy, w/high ceilings, very clean, quite spacious, and well furnished. -- The bathroom was spacious and extremely clean. --All hallways and common spaces were wide, spotlessly clean and neat, spacious, and well-lighted. -- My room was very quiet; I never heard any sounds from other rooms, the hallway, or the street. -- Speaking of my quiet room, I must point out that the central HVAC system (heating, ventilation and air conditioning system) in my room was very quiet. -- Lobby seating space, along with alternate seating spaces available in other areas, was very plush, comfortable and plentiful, much as the Hotel Indigo chain is famous for. Since I often have clients who schedule stays at the same hotel in order to meet w/me during my stay, and since I often meet w/them in lobby seating spaces, I discovered that the offerings in this hotel were more than sufficient in this regard. -- All staffers that I encountered during my stay, including front desk staffers, managers, housekeepers, and restaurant staff, were quite helpful and attentive, and usually quite responsive. -- There was a good-sized and spotlessly clean fridge in the room. and, best of all, it had all of its shelves. -- There are two elevators for the 155 rooms in this 5-floor hotel. They are more than sufficient for a hotel of this size. -- The lobby restaurant was a kinda trendy place called Pallette, and it was quite good. I ate many of my breakfasts and dinners there. Menu selection was good, food quality was very good and service was fine. -- the only problems that I encountered during my stay emerged during my early check-in at ~12:45 PM. As an IHG Spire Elite member with the perk of a 10AM check-in, I often ask for early check-in (usually around noon to 1 PM) during my many stays at IHG hotels, and the vast majority of them are able to do this flawlessly. In this case, I'd called 3 weeks earlier to ask for early check-in of about 12:30 PM. I'd been traveling for over 7 hours when I arrived in the lobby, and, once there, I saw, at the only open station, a long line. When I asked where I could find the dedicated check-in line for IHG Club Elite members could be found, a front desk manager explained to me that there was none; as a new hotel, they're allowed up to 12 months to set up a dedicated Elite check-in station with signage. Thus, I was forced to wait in the seemingly long line at the sole open station. Luckily, over the next 3 minutes, most of the folks on the line left the lobby w/out approaching the desk. When I got to the desk, I was told by a male clerk that my Spire Elite upgrade room wouldn't be ready for at least 45 minutes. He asked me to take a seat in the lobby to wait 45 to 60 minutes until he could bring my room keys to me. At this point, I got annoyed, because I have, as a Spire Elite member, NEVER been asked at any IHG hotel to sit and wait for my room to be readied during an early check-in, and so I asked to speak with a manager. In short order, the very friendly and competent Operations Manager, Zach, arrived. He offered me the use of a temporary room, aka a Complimentary Room, over the next hour till my upgrade room was ready; Complimentary Rooms for early-check-ins are offered by all Kimpton Hotels in case a room isn't yet ready, and also informally offered by a few Hotel Indigos. I accepted his offer, and as he handed me the keys to the temporary room, an amazingly resourceful front desk clerk named Megan, who'd apparently overheard us and had decided to tackle the issue decisively, strode over, explained that she'd managed to get an upgrade room on an upper floor readied for me, and handed me my room key packet. I was quite amazed by Megan's resourcefulness, and also by Zach's helpful attitude. BTW, since we had traded business cards, Zach stayed in touch with me via email throughout my stay to ensure that my stay was flawless. -- In my reviews, I rarely mention staffers by name to compliment them, if only because I have a really poor memory for names, but I find that I must once again mention the front desk staffer named Megan, b/c in each of my subsequent interactions with her, she proved to be extremely helpful, alert, competent, resourceful and professional; I must admit that I am very impressed! -- Overall, a great Hotel Indigo! We had such a lovely stay at this new hotel. The beds were honestly so comfortable I fell asleep in the first 3 minutes in the room! I enjoyed a workout in the large gym with all new equipment, fresh towels and water. Maybe my favorite thing is the attention to detail--hooks on the wall for coats, a charging station inside the door to the room, amazing smelling soaps, calming colors, retro fridge, etc. It's a vibe. Elevator #1 front door (facing lobby) closes quickly and the sensor does not detect promptly if someone is in the entry. My husband and I stayed here as our wedding was close by and we are glad we did. Besides being conveniently located by downtown madison, this hotel was clean, and everyone of the staff were great to work with. We also used this hotel for our wedding block and the staff (Kayla) made this process seem-less. She was great and quick with communication. This hotel also has a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles for free and will pick up your guests that stay at the hotel for free from the airport. Also for a small fee you can reserve a shuttle if you need to transport a large number if guests to a specific place at a specific time. We booked the shuttle for the night for a small fee so our guests had a ride to the rehearsal dinner. Our guests loved it as they could drink at the rehearsal and didn't need to worry about driving or parking. I set up the rehearsal pick up and drop off times for our guests and the shuttle drivers were on time and even waited to made sure they got all the guests on the shuttle. The service at this hotel was the best service I have ever had at a hotel. I would highly recommend them. read more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding block and everything about our stay was excellent. The location is great and was easy to find. Valet parking was easy, although we probably would have been fine if there was a non-valet option (there isn't one if you want to park at the hotel). Check in was easy and the concierge was very friendly. The room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Overall it was more pricey than the hotels we would normally choose but was definitely worth it and an excellent stay. read more

I've been staying at this hotel almost every week for the past 3 months on work travel, and I can honestly say that the indigo is one of my favorite hotels. The hotel employees are very friendly and helpful. Johanna and Yisrael from the front desk consistently go above and beyond to provide a great experience, remember my name, and always have a smile on their face.
