Not at all happy after driving for 13 hours to discover the broken elevator (they say it'll be a month long to fix!?) was broken. The only room they had for me was on the 3rd floor. I prepaid thru my airline membership page and while they offered to cancel, I would have to contact the site and go through a lengthy refund process AND find a different hotel this evening. I had to make 3 separate trips to get my heavy bags upstairs, while they said they could help, I didn't get the confirmation I needed to guarantee they could help carry stuff back when I plan on leaving early in the morning. I stayed in a Best Western in 2019 and it was the worst bed, worst hotel ever. I had wanted to try to avoid the brand however some of these reviews indicated things with the company had improved. I would say, just stay away from Best Westerns all together. So disppointed. The front staff, god bless them, they really shouldn't have to deal with this level of challenges! Liked - *The location was good. Easy on and off of the interstate. *Quiet property despite the pool. *Room was relatively clean. *Breakfast was hot and had great selections. Disliked · *The door on the bathroom is ridiculously heavy. It should slide easily but it is not hung correctly. It would take a simple adjustment to correct. *It's belittling to your staff to have them put out a tip jar for doing their job. Pay them a fair wage and get rid of the begging jar. *There is absolutely NO reason for a child to be behind the front desk or in the managers office. I waited for a long time to check in while a front desk staff member was in the back with a small child the entire time. She finally came out after she was called, but she had to shoo the child away from the front. Very, very unprofessional. This is a business, not a daycare. (And I don't care why the child was there, or who the parent was - it is inexcusable) *The shower head had 3 settings. Douse everything but your head with water, pelt your torso, or rip your skin off. read more

Are you the type of person who likes to use the bathroom without closing the bathroom door? Well, this hotel is for you! Check-in was interesting. No dogs of a certain breed, but they won't tell you which breeds. Also, it is pet friendly IF the pet is under 30 lbs. The bathroom door of the room was impossible to close due to poor design. The shower faucet was either full hot or a trickle. I reported these issues, but the staff acknowledged they knew of the issues and wouldn't do anything about the price ($255) of the hotel. Updated review for 2022 - wow, what an awesome stay. We actually were going to stay somewhere on the less expensive side, but after heading there and their staff and service was atrocious, we decided to splurge knowing this would be worth it. We were right! Luckily, on such short notice, they still got us in with 4 rooms. The front desk staff were so nice and accommodating. It was like a breath of fresh air. They have an indoor pool, which is a huge plus with little kids. We were only staying one night, but it made the day. I also have to mention they have a full breakfast included with the stay, which helped justify the cost of the room for 4. I love how modern and clean the hotel is and I have utilized the gym both times we've stayed. There is also a little snack station too. I think now this will be the go to for our 1 night stays before heading to the lake. read more

Despite signs, front desk man wasn't wearing a mask which would have been tolerable because of the plexiglass, BUT when we needed a new sheet in our room later on (details next) this same maskless employee came to our hotel room door WITHOUT A MASK! To the sheet. After a long drive, all we wanted to do was crash in bed, but couldn't because there was a spot of old gum or something right in the middle of the bed when you pull the covers to one side. But wait, worst of all, inside the mini-fridge was some previous person's takeout. All this just made worse because of a pandemic. If people are going to start traveling you need to be careful. No longer going to Best Westerns because it's how you treat people in difficult times that says everything about you. The morning shift front desk person I guess wanted to give a discount or something, but I got the room through a third party site which is a poor excuse. Make it right. Period. There's 2 stars here because the food was actually pretty good. read more

NOTE: It's not THIS BW hotel I'm reviewing, but the company as a whole. BEWARE!!! READ the fine print on the CANCELLATION POLICY not all reservations are the same. I lost all my first reservation money by Best Western from a booking I changed 5 days ahead of time and they didn't refund me the money at all. And I'm a Blue member as well. Customer Service rep was friendly, but obviously nothing they were willing to do about it. Very disappointed and will never stay at a BW again. read more

Overall, it was a fine place to stay, or as I would say, not to shabby. The room was clean. Stayed in a suite that was simply a bed with a "living room" next to it where the other bed would be if it was a double queen room... funny part was there were 2 TV's, one for the bed and one for the living room...but they were only about 8 feet apart. Seemed unnecessary but still turned both TV's on to the same channel for funzies. read more

We were planning on staying the night in Colorado but stopped 45 mins outside of it in this quiet town in Nebraska and our hosts John and Edgar were absolutely amazing. The pool was fire, and John even turn on the outdoor fireplace for us and it was a great night. John alone quite literally made me and my friend want to drive 10 hours back to see him again. The hotel was clean and very nice. But, even when they give you a late check out, they will lock you out of your room at the normal check out time. They will then say it's fixed and you can access your room to get your things, but you're still locked out. When further questioned, they then blame it on the Best Western Computer system, saying there's nothing they can do about it--yet another lie because no other BW has an issue with late check out and they don't automatically lock you out of your room. All they had to do was apologize and fix the issue so we could be in our way, instead, we were lied to again and again with the lie changing depending on who you talked to. After this experience, we won't be using Best Western any more. read more

This place is great! From the polite, friendly lady that checked us in, to the tremendous breakfast the next morning, everything was superb! The room was immaculate, large, and comfortable, and had a lot of little niceties, like a full-size rack to put your luggage on. TV had way better selections than average, and the bathroom was large and clean. The bed was outstanding! Even the Wi-Fi worked - and worked great. We stayed during the Coronavirus game, yet this hotel found a way to provide great service including breakfast. Instead of denying breakfast, they went so far as to hire a chef to prepare each meal individually, and offered great choices too! Way better than the apple in a bag many are providing! If you're reading this after the coronavirus non-sense, think about this. They went the extra mile during the crisis because they have an attitude of providing service. Rather than use the crisis as an excuse, like SO many others are doing, they met the challenge head-on. I'd go out of my way to stay here again. read more

I'm rating this hotel as a 2 because of the poor management and experience that we had last week. It gets a 2 instead of a 1 because it had pretty good breakfast and was clean and nice appearance. But the customer service and overall gets a 1. We booked this hotel months in advance on booking.com where we booked most of our hotels for a 7 day road trip with our 3 kids. We received immediate confirmation of our booking. We drove 10 hours to get to this hotel and upon arrival, the front desk staff told us they had no record of our reservation. They told us that about 50% of the time booking.com sends the reservation to the wrong hotel that was at this location previously (that burned down) and that we needed to book a new room on the spot and that the manager would tell booking.com to refund the money we paid if we cancel the booking.com reservation. We did all this and got a room but was told the refund from booking.com would come the next day. Our room was fine. We unloaded and hit the pool since the kids had been in the car all day. The pool was tiny. There was no hot tub or sauna. The floor on the pool deck was so slippery that my children fell multiple times even just getting in and out of the pool and walking. Very unsafe. When we retired to go to bed, we were awoken at 1030pm by the strong smell of smoke coming from the electrical outlets closest to the beds. The fumes were nauseating and gave us all headaches within 5-10 minutes. Our room phone didnt work so we went down to the front desk for help. The maintenance person was not on site and we were told he couldn't drive in because his brakes were out on his vehicle. One of the front desk staff had to go pick him up from home. Meanwhile we had to wake up our kids and load up all our things at 11pm and wait in the hallway. When the maintenance person arrived he disconnected power to the outlets by the bed and asked if we would still sleep there. Of course we couldn't sleep there, it smelled like burning and we were already coughing. They told us there were no more rooms available in the hotel so we had to find a new one, in the middle of the night. The staff didn't help us secure another local hotel room or help us with any of our luggage and did not offer us anything other than to not pay for the room. No vouchers for another stay, no help with our stuff while we had 3 very sleepy and upset kids... just basically stranded us. I was only able to secure a room locally at a low budget motel that paled in comparison on cleanliness, but we had no choice. The next day I did not get a refund from our booking.com reservation and emailed to inquire about this. The manager called back the following day taking zero accountability and basically blaming us for the events that occurred. He told us the issue with booking.com is not their fault because they aren't communicating with their hotel properly. They told us the electrical fire was our fault for plugging in a phone charger in one outlet and a small desk fan in the other outlet (2 separate outlets, not on the same bed) and that those outlets are only for phone charging and we caused the electrical shortage (it wasn't a shortage, it just started smoking). These were 3 prong outlets like any other outlets anywhere and this issue has never happened before or happened again. In addition if for whatever reason the outlets were not meant for anything other than phone chargers, maybe they should specify that, but I still do not think that is accurate. The staff from the night this happened told us the manager would give us some sort of resolution like a voucher or discount on a future stay since it was an awful inconvenience and we were left stranded with kids in the middle of the night due to an issue with their hotel, but this never happened. We will not be staying/attempting to stay again. We did not find the issue was resolved at all nor did the manager offer any sort of apologies or act like he cared at all and blamed us. read more

This is a lovely new hotel. I was impressed with the modern / retro look in the lobby and thought it was fun. The breakfast serving area was huge with lots of hot food options. We were impressed. The room was large and well appointed. The bed was firm. It was quiet at night. This will be our go to hotel in the Ogallala area from now on. read more

I was traveling with my dog, Haarlem, and we were greeted with nothing but love and understanding by Tiffany. She gave us the most excellent customer service experience I have ever encountered! Because of this woman, we will be choosing Best Western for all of our future stays when it is an option. I can't express my gratitude for her enough. Also, the rooms were INCREDIBLY CLEAN, and I am a total germophobe so that says a lot coming from me. Especially in a pet friendly hotel, it can be so hard to find. Nice room! Super clean and new. Right off the highway so easy to get to. Pool was a little colder then I expected, and there were no towels available at the pool even though they have a sign in the rooms saying to not bring the room towels down because they have pool towels available. Overall really nice stay. Will definitely be back next time we come to Ogallala! read more

Hotel of nightmares: booked a room two weeks in advance for July 4th. asked for a handicapped accessible room on the ground floor-got neither, not only was the room not handicapped accessible, they put us on the third floor. The handicapped parking is last parking spaces from the door, so you have to try and get to the entrance past several other cars. They don't let anyone check in before 3 PM. There breakfast buffet isn't kept full, I wasn't able to get eggs, because they ran out of eggs and they ran out of waffle mix. They changed our room key and we were not able to get into our room. The staff is rude and not helpful when checking into the hotel. I would not stay at this property ever - I mean ever. Hotel nightmare. read more

MAY 2020 - We stayed at this hotel in early May 2020 - the hotel is new and is very nice. But BEWARE - watch your credit card! We left the hotel and I got a text that I was being charge an extra charge - (this was about an hour or two after we left). I immediately called the hotel and requested a manager. He stated that we had solid the sheet with food and there were dirty towels left. #1 we did not eat in room, did not get sick in towels! He said well I will have to check with the cleaning staff they have your room number down as the one that made a mess. Well he did call me back and explained there was a miscommunication with the room number. If I had not received the text for my credit card or not checked my statement I would have been charged an extra $50 for someone elses mistakes. So just watch your bills and make sure they don't overcharge you for something that is not yours! read more

yeah, this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for awhile. . . .had to change the sheets ourselves, the last people who stayed in room had sex and it was all over the sheets. . watched the maid in the other room just pull up the sheet and bed spread and not pull the sheet off the bed, If the last person does not pull sheet and sit them on floor the maid will just leave it on bed. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty she didn't check to see if it needed changing. . .will keep going to next time to next town instead of stopping in Ogalala. . . read more
