    Drain plug is out

The bathrooms need repairs. Shower head was shooting water all over, the tile on the tub surround was cracked and bathroom sink did not drain. The room had a musty/smoky smell to it. There was mold in the freezer and the fridge where the drip pan is for the freezer. The pillow cases had hair on all of pillows and stains on the blanket and sheets. We got moved from the room with the hair on the pillows to another room that had all those other issues after we called the front desk and the front desk asked if the room looked ok other than the hair on the pillows. The place is just grimy all around.

Located Off I-80, this understated hotel is a 4-minute walk from the Crossings Premium Outlets shopping center, 3.3 miles from Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark and 5.9 miles from the Mount Airy Casino Resort, and around 15-20 minute drive to NASCAR races in LongPond in PA. We booked two rooms, with king size beds on race weekend, one room was on the first floor and one was on the third floor. Rooms were booked from Friday until Monday. Front staff stated they were still offering free breakfast. You arrive at the front desk to ask where they are serving the breakfast , and they hand you a brown paper bag from behind the front desk. Everything was so warm, and they gave you a fruit cup, granola bar and a whelchers juice. ( I receive pineapple orange ) warm as warm can be. I asked the gentleman at the front desk, is this what you called breakfast, the night before, his answer was YES. For what we paid for the room, I would be embarrassed. Then I was thinking at least I would get a nice hot cup of coffee, so again I requested and asked where was the continental coffee, believe it or not, his answer was we don't have any in the lobby, you can make a cup in your room, I replied with " the machines in the rooms that never get cleaned " he said yes. It gets worst, after coming home from the first day of the races, we tried to get into the side door of the hotel, our keys wouldn't work, then our keys wouldn't work to let us in our room. We went to front desk again, and they stated we only had you staying one night, we had to show them that both rooms were paid for 3 evening and they had to supply us with new key cards. What a disaster. Price wasn't cheap either, especially because it was race weekend, I believe they raised there priced.

Not what you want. The fireplace is not the propane powered flip a switch kind. It's the bring logs and kindling and matches and gloves and a poker and start an actual fire inside a hotel kind. Ridiculous. The heater/AC is partially blocked by the curtains you cannot get out of the way so the room is often too warm or cold depending on the season. The included complimentary breakfast is a granola bar with fruit cup and juice (this is during Covid-2021). Like if you were arriving at a field trip for kindergarteners. Not even an apple or banana. And then there were the neighbors. The loud kind. From New York. You know. Not that it's the hotel's fault. It is a tourist area especially for snow sports. But they were making noise past 3 AM.

    Oh free parking too

I star it a two for the convenience for a walk to Burger actually adject to the hotel, because even though they stay they have breakfast it consist of welch punch and a granola bar. So much for breakfast buffet. The staff we polite. the third star goes for location everything is close by.

My family and I had a good stay. They made sure to state that no smoking was allowed in the rooms but the first room they put us in reeked of smoke. It was obvious someone had been smoking in the room and probably recently. Which is crazy since check in was 4pm and we didn't check in until after 6pm. We complained to the front desk ASAP and they placed us in a different but similar room. The room was modern and clean. It had a walk in curtain shower which at the time I thought was cool at first but water kept getting out onto the bathroom floor. So we ended up requesting a lot of towel just because of that. No breakfast due to Covid ( unless you count granola bars as breakfast). The pool was not heated and was crowded. I think people who were not hotel guest ( they kept using the side outside door to go back and forth to their cars for liquor, food, etc) were using the pool like it was their own personal pool. That's was a turn off. Other than that the stay was good, it is very close to Camelback and to the outlets.

partially-fed bed bug crawling around on the bed observed 9/21/17
    Erica W.

A bed bug was crawling around on top of my bed. See the photos I attached. The hotel owner refuses to reimburse me or respond to my repeated attempts at contact. I opened a complaint with Best Western Corporate, but the owner is also avoiding their repeated attempts at contact. I also opened a complaint with the Pennsylvania Department of Health. As of now, I'm still uncompensated for this horrifying, traumatic experience. And the owner hasn't taken any accountability to protect other guests. DON'T STAY HERE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO RISK UNCOMPENSATED EXPOSURE TO BED BUGS.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the event we were attending and its reviews of cleanliness. It was clean, however, the hotel is in need of a roof repair. The lobby is empty and clean. No computers or printers any longer to be used and furnished in a way as not to congregate. Hallways were clean until day 2 when there was a cigarette but in the upstairs hallway for the remainder of our stay...over 24 hours. First room we were put in had a very leaky ceiling so we called down and we were moved, but the second room also had a leaky ceiling, yet not as bad so we never said anything. Rooms were clean. Pool was open but is not large enough for the amount of hotel guests. Spent about 10 minutes in the pool cause people cant control their children. No breakfast yet due to covid but a cute diner down the street, Billy's Diner. Would stay again, but fix your roof

Hotel was cleaned ok-- could have been cleaned more thoroughly though

This Hampton Inn was hands down the best. We stayed here while enjoying a weekend in the Poconos mountains. I'm a gold member and chose my room ahead of time and the room was ready promptly. After enjoying the mountains we headed to the hotel and went right up to the room. I chose a room facing the woods being a snowy weekend it was a beautiful picturesque view. The hotel pool is heated so it was nice to enjoy and get away from the cold. There is a beautiful view of the outside from the pool with an outdoor area for enjoyment during warmer temperatures. The gym was better than I had expected for a hotel gym. There are amble free weights, treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. I was also surprised that there was a peloton. The only thing that I didn't like was the tv signal kept turning off, but I had brought my laptop so I enjoyed watching a movie on there instead. The breakfast was what your would normally expect from a Hampton inn. There were eggs, potatoes, cereal and a waffle station. I would definitely stay here when in the Poconos again!

The toilet was not cleaned, there was a dead bug on the floor, and the bathtub was so dirty that we wouldn't even consider taking a shower in it. The bed skirt was ripped, and the condition of the hallways was also poor with mold throughout. When I brought these issues to the front desk, the housekeeping manager happened to be there. After I told her our room number, she said, "Oh, that room should've never been rented. It hasn't been rented in a long time, so it needed to be cleaned." Clearly, it was not cleaned at all before we were checked into it. For a hotel brand that usually maintains high standards, this was unacceptable. I hope management takes immediate steps to refund my money and ensure rooms are properly inspected and cleaned before being assigned to guests. I would give 0 stars if app allowed it.

The room wasn't cheap, and I simply expect better from any hotel that's part of the Wyndham group. Okay, let's talk location. One of the things the maps won't tell you is that the hotel is in a mini construction zone, nestled between two different adult stores offering peep shows, and a massage parlor that, I suspect, offers some off menu services. Entering my suite, I was shocked to see that it was only a slightly larger room. There was nothing suite about it. The hot tub is located in a little nook, between the bed and toilet. Its separated from each by a semi transparent shower curtain. This also means that if you're laying in bed -- especially if it's dark and the bathroom is lit -- you have an amazing show to watch. Hotels seldom offer much bathroom privacy, but this is INSANE. The toilet is literally 10-feet from the bed, separated by a $&!(!&@ curtain. And, if you use the hot tub, relax with your head next to the toilet. Ahhhh, aromatherapy indeed. To add to the negatives of the hot tub suite, the hotel's water pressure is about equal to my bladder upon realising I'm next to the bed -- barely a dribble. There was a mass of curly, tangled hairs on the intake, and a few others over the side of the tub. The bathroom in the lobby, directly across from the lounge, was closed our entire stay. In the hallway, across from out room, was a trash can full of rotting trash that could be smelled from every part of the hall, and the room. The bar turns into a breakfast buffet. They literally just toss those steel buffet containers on the bar. The tables were sticky, and I ... I just couldn't. We went to Duck Donuts down the street.

We booked our recent trip through Expedia, which is something we've done before and never had any issues. The front desk worker had great difficulty checking us in and needed 2 others to help her complete it. We had pre-paid for our room and she tried to charge us again for the room and only stopped when I questioned the charges. It was also very difficult to get our room serviced; housekeeping occurs every other day, which is no big deal except when they never came on our designated day (we were out of our room by 10). We spoke to the front desk clerk who put us on the list for the following day, so we thought things were resolved. However, one of the housekeepers repeatedly banged on our door ~8 AM the next morning and would not stop until we came to the door. This was done to ask what time we wanted service, which is something that's never happened in all of the years that we've been staying in hotels. The room was clean overall and the shower pressure was good, but the poor service overall made for a poor experience and we won't be coming back again.

The hotel cable had a good selection of channels, bed was reasonably comfortable, and the room was equipped with both a mini-fridge and microwave. This is where the good points end. Rooms still use real keys and that is something I've never seen. Two of the lights in the room had loose connections at first and the heating/cooling unit took a long time to start. On our last night the smoke detector started beeping due to a suspected dead battery. The bathroom was less then acceptable and was stained. Door hinges were rusty and the door did not fully close at the top or bottom. Tub appeared to be regrouted/refinished several times and a layer of dirt washed off when the shower was first started. Dead Mosquito on the ceiling finished the experience. This would not be my first, second, or third choice for places to stay, but the event I was attending paid for the room. If you just need a space to sleep for a few hours and are not going to look closely, this could probably work. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Much of the furniture was very worn down, and none of the fixtures or housewares matched. From the lamps, dried flower arrangements, to the kitchen ware, to the chairs & couches, it all appeared to have either been a mish-mosh purchase from a thrift shop, or had seen better days. In the lower guest room, there was a closet filled with lamps (broken? Old? Who knows) and blankets. Going up the stairs, our feet were greeted with nails/screws that were not adequately secured in to the floor. Window shades were falling apart, as was the cupboards. Paint was two-tone... paint or peeled. We tried to make the best of it, as we were amongst friends on a weekender. Then after a day of skiing, we returned to discover there was no running water. This would have been less problematic if we were college kids roughing it, but we had a number of young children with us that constantly needed hand washing, etc. Plus the fact that we're still amidst covid times, but let's be real, having a place to wash up was a basic necessity. The management company sent some young gentlemen who jimmied the basement door open with a butter knife, and attempted to resolve the problem, but they couldn't fix it. We were left with no running water & 4 families for the 2nd half our stay. We resorted to melting & boiling snow from outside the house to try to intermittently flush the toilet and rinse hands. We subsequently made a grocery run to get gallons of water. Anyone needing to hit the porcelain throne for an extended seating had to be driven into town to hit up a store or restaurant. Having a run-down property is one thing, not having running water is a whole level of unacceptable. While I was not the one coordinating our stay, from what I heard the management company offered a credit towards a future stay if we decided to leave early, OR they "would work something out" if we stayed longer. Some members of our party drove 4-5 hrs to get to the house, and leaving in the late afternoon would mean driving in the snow or icy roads late at night, which we all agreed was not safe, so we roughed it until there was sunlight. I heard the subsequent outcome ultimately was a few hundred bucks refund out of the thousands we spent for a weekend stay there. TL;DR: I wish I'd known running water wasn't a guarantee at this stay.
