This hotel is disgusting. I feel like I'm in a low budget version of the shining or some shit. This roach coach excuse of a hotel doesn't even have an elevator.... The rugs in the hall way are vile. Stained and all fucked up. The hotel room that we are staying in clearly was not even cleaned. The windows fogged up and all we saw was handprints and marks and under the desk there was crap so it wasn't even vacuumed. When I went down to the first floor to get some ice the room that it was in smelt like death. There was mold in the corners of the floor and dead bugs everywhere. I don't know why anyone would stay here. I didn't even sit on the toilet. I squatted over it lmao. And forget about a shower. read more

YIKES ..it has taken a serious dive.. Definitely needs an update. So very surprised to find Wyndham's name associated with this property. Outside is looking very uninviting. The over all property needs some care. Tall grass, weeds and trash. Better Lighting would be good ! Carpets in halls and rooms need to be changed. Theirs an odor of sorts( possibly stale cigarette smoke, nasty smelling cleaner) in the hallway and upon entering the rooms. Cleaning of the bathrooms and rooms certainly needs to bought up to higher standard. Windows are hard to see through, they are dirty. Carpets need to be vacuumed better. And the dust.......must wipe everything, not a pick and choose deal. Theres a shortage on outlets for your personal use...need to take turns between your cell phone, tablet and laptop.... Pool area can use some appeal as well. Tables? chairs ? It looks abandoned!! It's a shame it's a nice size pool. Theres also a restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast is alot to be desired. They have a full bar. Wings, ribs and fries are good. But that can depend on who's in the kitchen. ( theres some better choices across the street) Have business in the area, so need to shower and rest a bit. Had an okay stay here. It did it's job. We just needed to crash the night and it was close to Camelback Ski Resort. The hotel and rooms are very dated and should be renovated, especially the carpet. Our room was pretty big and had two double beds. It also came with a microwave and mini fridge that wasn't very cold. Our room was on the first floor, facing the parking lot so the view wasn't great. We saw our car. They offer a free continental breakfast that includes bagels, toast, cereal, coffee and juice with jam, cream cheese, and butter. This ends at 9:30 am on the dot. If this is not enough for you, they also have a full menu (scrambled eggs, pancake, omelettes, bacon, etc) to order from their restaurant. There is a heated indoor pool. Dirtiest hotel I've stayed in EVER! Pictures include: a supposed "clean towel", the cover on the top of our bed which has some unknown white stuff on it, and rocks in my coffee maker after I made hot water for my tea. When we checked in at 3pm there were dirty sheets from the rooms lining the hallways. The hotel's women's room in the first floor lobby area was filthy this morning around 7:30am. Booked a one night stay through Expedia based on the reviews and decent pictures we had seen online. I was greatly disappointed upon arrival. Between the strange elephant head on the left front side of the entrance and the "condemned" appearance. The front lobby is head to toe dark wood finish with old black leather couches and the stench of stale cigarettes, though the hotel is smoke free.. (Yeah right!) Our room itself was dirty. From scuffs on the walls, to a stained bathtub. I immediately checked the beds for bugs because I was freaked out as it was. (I'll have you know, thankfully there weren't any bugs.) Now for the cherry on top! If you're brave enough you'll venture off to check out the pool (which actually wasn't half bad) but along the way you'll notice mold spots on the ceiling tiles and cut out portions of the hallway rugs that are very noticeably replaced with a similar swatch of carpet to make it "less obvious". In conclusion, if dingy 80's chic is your thing, this is the place for you! Otherwise, take your money elsewhere. This place was not worth a penny spent and I'm happy to get a refund. read more

They wanted $250 for a room. I had Wyndham Rewards points to get a free room and I booked it through official app. So, what happened about 15 minutes later, is an angry call from their manager. I was yelled at, with common 4-letter words, saying that if I don't pay $250 right this moment, my reservation would be cancelled and I can "f*ck off" So there you have it. Disappointing We booked this hotel for a 2 days break in Poconos at 11th hour. The photos are misleading. The hotel is very old and not maintained. There is no casino on premises like in photos. The restaurant is on the verge of closing I beleive. The free continental breakfast was a disaster. Bread, bagle, and cereal with a tasteless coffee. Pool was not clean. Very mixed reviews here, the good: clean and comfy sheets, great customer service, beautiful entrance, clean bathrooms, lots of parking... the bad: very smelly corridors upstairs, we never found an elevator so we rolled everything up and down, breakfast was the worst I've ever seen (just bread and sugary cereal, no egg or fruit, most of us came in, took a look and left), and beds were uncomfortable, but clean. The carpeting smelled bad of a combination of cleaning products and mildew. As we walked down the looooooong and dark corridor I was waiting for the twin girls from "The Shining" to appear. Inside the room all the furniture was dated and scratched. The newest piece of furniture I saw in the entire room was the refrigerator!! The curtains were ripped there was a crack in the window where there was cold air coming through. A cigarette burn on the radiator of a nonsmoking room? We checked the mattress and saw stains that were questionable. I went back to the front desk and spoke to manager who was extremely rude when I told him the conditions of the room. I have never posted a hotel review in my life but this one i really could not NOT write it. My family and I have stayed at various Howard Johnson hotels in the past for our family vacations. However, this will be our LAST! 1. Let's start with the parking out! - we arrived when it was dark and the 2-3 cars that were parked should have given us a hint of how bad this place was. In the morning, I noticed the parking lot is completely unkempt. There are so many cracks in the ground. Weeds are coming out from everywhere. Can barely see the lines to park in between. Horribly lit. 2. Customer services is non-existent! ZERO! - lady at the reception was unfriendly, even rude because she was on her phone the entire time. She provided us with a copy of the 'room map' but the map already had ANOTHER room circled! When we asked her about the amenities she could not help us at all. She didn't know or she was just too busy on her phone to take the time to help us. 3. Rooms are old & dingy! - for a minute i thought we had booked a room at a motel. It smelled weird and damp. The toilet seat moved every time we sat down. On the room description it said it had a microwave and a desk, which yes it did, but the microwave was ON TOP of the desk. How was I supposed to use the desk if i needed it? Beds and pillows were soooo uncomfortable that it was very hard to sleep. Lighting fixtures are very outdated. VERY! 4. Breakfast provided?! - let me stop you right there! If that means literally a loaf of bread, a bagel and peanut butter then yes breakfast was included. Other than that, nothing else was there to eat for breakfast! Oh and if you did decide to get their 'breakfast' there was a big sign that said you cannot take it to your room. I had never heard of such a thing! 5. On the room amenities it said 'bottled water', when we got thirsty we started looking all around the room for water. there was none in the room. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought ok we have to go ask for them. Went up to reception desk and asked... we were told no but pointed us to a vending machine. Which we would have to buy but guess what? there wasn't any water in there either! 6. The rainforest cafe/restaurant thing posted on the pictures, it is horrifying! We literally ran away from that room. It was dark and extremely dusty. I never saw a 'fitness center' and we looked all around. I could go on and on about how bad this place is but I think this is enough to warn you to look elsewhere. And yes, I am aware that no location is perfect and that we get what we pay for, well this booking did cost us a pretty penny so I at least wanted it to be 'okay'. Booked this place last minute for Presidents weekend. There wasn't anything else available. We definitely overpaid. This place screams 80s. You are hit with the embedded, stale cigarette stench from days gone by. This place has never been updated. Our room had a tube TV and the fridge stunk of sour milk. The free continental breakfast is bare bones but the coffee tolerable. The second day there was zero food out for the free breakfast and one employee working it. My husband had to ask him to make more coffee. There isn't an elevator so beware if you have a lot to lug. Housekeeping doesn't tidy your room till around 4pm! The halls are strewned about with used towels and garbage bags. It's close to highways, shopping and restaurants and Camelback is about 20 minutes away. This hotel is very old and service is bad too. I book a room for 5 peoples and paid off. When I check in they asked me for another 25 dollars for fifth person. But they didn't mention in the website since I ordered. That time I try canceling my order but they said can't cancel. Also one big trouble is we book the room for non smoking but smell smoke all the night. That is very bad for our family especially my kids. My three boys and I have been going to the holiday inn Bartonsville. The General Manager Fazel is amazing. He will honor any request. He is just a great guy that will sit and chat with you. Honestly he is the reason we go back year after year. The hotel is clean and comfortable but not nearly updated - who cares - The restaurant called the Serengeti is a great value- good food good price and good service. It's about 10 minute from camelback mountain. The pool is nice and heated. One tip would be to bring your own towel for the pool. They have plenty there but they are Tiny. Also bring sweats as it's cold going from the pool to the room is a bit of a rough walk when you are wet and it's cold. Set your expectations. As I said this place is great for what it is and that's why I gave it 5 stars. If you are going skiing it's is perfect. Make sure you say hi to Fazel - tell him Stephen with the 3 boys recommended you. We will be back next year for sure. read more

The manager is rude! He was arguing about the prices that we got the rooms. It was not our fault that they had a deal the day that we reserved the rooms, he wanted to charge more for the rooms and he said if we did not like the prices he could cancel our reservation. Come on! Cancel 12 rooms for an entire family members, after making a reservation a month in advance? He could be more professional since being a manager he should care more about his clients, clearly he kicked us out saying, "I can cancel the reservation if you do not want to pay more" We ended up staying in different hotels. I stayed here for a bit while closing on a home purchase in November. I reported to the front desk that there were roaches in my room once with photos and a dead bug on a napkin and they denied it calling it a beetle? Then blamed the New Yorkers. After leaving, about 2 weeks later, I was charged for a extra night and a extra $150 for "marker damage to sheets" when I didn't have markers. I asked for the proof or to keep those sheets and they said "they already threw them out and replaced them because they were soooo destroyed". That on top of being disturbed by the woman across the hall from me getting arrested and kicked out of the hotel because she was a live-in housekeeper being kicked out for not paying and stealing from a guest room? Be prepared to stay at the hotel similar to the Shining.. but not the past.. the run down future.. The room was filthy and very dated. The carpets were dirty. Idk if it was cleaned recently but it needs to be steam cleaned. The way the mirror was placed was odd. Got this uncomfortable feeling we were on camera? It also was directly across from pool. So we couldn't have our shade open for light. There were people hanging right in the pool area. And we could see them clearly so we weren't sure if they could see us. This entire hotel reminded us of the shining. The hallways were long and creepy. They put us right next to another family/couple that was arguing although there was tons of empty rooms. Breakfast was bagels, toast and coffee. Which I wasn't allowed to eat! Since I had to leave and run out the door they said I couldn't take it. They force you to sit in the shining restaurant with it because they are SO worried about food theft. I had to throw out my ONE bagel and my ONE coffee right in the trash forced by two food police employees. Complete waste of food. I told them I had to catch a flight and I'm not going to sit in a restaurant alone. I was genuinely pissed. We also have a toddler who can not just sit in a restaurant because he's autistic. He also will only eat food we brought for him. So I had the garbage room coffee! This seemed to be a tactic to make you pay for breakfast or tip in that restaurant. There was absolutely no one else in there. I was fuming mad. What they did was rude and inconsiderate. This hotel is trash. I stayed at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Bartonsville and slipped down the stairs that were severely damaged. This hotel is terribly managed and shows no care about the consumers who stay there. I had originally planned on staying two nights but left early due to becoming injured. This happened on January 19, 2020. The manager, Janet, informed me since I did not need an ambulance I must've been "fine". Janet, the manager, told me she was very busy and what did I expect from her. I sent my son to get an incident report from the office and the manager said she was busy couldn't find them and sent him with a blank piece of paper to have me write what happened. I have contacted the hotel many times since the incident and spoken to cooperate on 4 different occasions and was told the hotel manager would contact me. I have not been contacted by anyone and find it to be absolutely ridiculous that a company so well known can't respond to a phone call or email. This company overall should be ashamed of the negligence at this hotel and their customer "service". The hotel is disgusting, the curtains and lampshades were stained with who knows what, dead bugs on the floor. Sad to say I even stayed here and left with terrible injuries!! read more

I've stayed here a couple of times. This hotel really has potential if they renovate the place. It's a great location right off the expressway and very convenient most businesses in the area. They have a really nice sized swimming pool with a 8ft deep end which is good if you like to dive in. The pool water is always warm and cozy whenever I go there. The rooms however are not so cozy for clean freaks like me. I spilled water on the carpet and used a white towel to soak it up. The towel was brown on the spot where it soaked up the water. That tells me the carpet is really nasty. I know HoJo's are not high end hotels, but they should at least deep clean the carpet more often. Better yet I wish they would just renovate the rooms completely, as signs of wear and tear is very prevalent. Also their hallways are very dingy because the lighting is really poor. read more

The hotel was ok if your just looking to sleep & super easy to find! Downfall, I got locked in the bathroom twice by the doorknob being super loose, got myself out after less then a minute both times. The bed was comfy but the sheets a little rough & itchy (not because of bugs!!! Just old) it also didn't have the best decor or appearance in the room. The pluses, chillis right across the street for pick up or dine in, comfy bed, down the block from mount airy (our purpose of the trip), also they will give you late check out for 12pm! Disgusting, mold all over room 121, blood spots on the curtains, dirt spots on the wall, pubes and hair all over the restroom, restroom stinks of mold, carpets are all coming up and loose in many areas. The black on the bottom of the beds are all full of hairy mildew/mold. The shower/tub has hair and the caulking is up in many spots and red mildew as well as rust all over the fixtures. The soaps were literally just thrown on the top of the sink and the towels were thrown on the bar as if it was used before. The refrigerator had dirt on top of it. The fire extinguishers appeared to be expired and the hallway was humid and the carpets are so loose that in some spots it's difficult to pull your luggage. The place is basically a square with the reception desk the first line of the square- ifyou go to the right and the first left (like an "L") that is the nonsmoking section but then the left side of the reception is smoking but you can smell it in the smoking side despite a couple air purifiers I'm the hallway. It appeared every other air purifier was on and not all. The smell of cigarettes can be smelled far into the smoking section. I have always thought staying at a hotel was a bit special and loved getting a bottle of wine and relaxing in the tub but I am currently stuck laying next to furry mold on the bottom of the headboard in room 121. I'm stuck here due to illness and can't leave right now unfortunately. As a person who travels extensively for work, ive been to numerous hotels (no less than 100) and motels and this is honestly the worst hotel I have been to. The worst after this one was in Reno where there was prostitutes outside and drug users-i never thought I would find a worse hotel! It even smells like mildew and we have to keep the bathroom closed due to the pungent smell of mildew/mold coming from the bathroom. It's a holiday weekend and the cost today was $116 per night which brought us here versus the place next door I have been to before and was $20 more a night. We didn't want to spend a lot and so came here for basic lodging. Tomorrow the rate goes to $145 I believe but we will not be staying-you couldn't pay me enough money in the world to stay here. We couldn't have been more wrong in choosing this place and I hope whomever reads this doesn't make the same poor choice as well. It's not just cheap furniture from the 80s but it's full of scratches and dings, dirty, and scattered with mildew. I've taken photos and hope you see them before booking to stay at this place. This hotel is beneath a motel. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. Unfortunately, this was the one time my grandmother of 82 years of age finally said yes to coming out for an overnight stay out in PA. She had not been out of her apartment for nearly 7 months and this was the only hotel that had availability for the night we were looking to book. The beds had holes in them. The pillow cases had stains. The minute we stepped into the place it stunk as if 100 people were gathered all smoking cigarettes throughout the insides of this hotel. Our room was dirty, musty, and just plainly stunk horribly. We asked for a different room but the next room was the same. I then asked for someone to please come clean the room and they did send someone over, a woman who came in and sprayed the air conditioner directly into the vent multiple times and then sprayed the carpet on her way out of the room. My grandmother awoke the next morning with horrible back pain as I did as well, as I suffer from a chronically injured back. My cousin who had booked the room next door had multiple asthma attacks even using his special pump multiple times. When I asked to speak to a manager the front receptionist said there was no manager on site. These rooms were being sold at $200 per night. For that price I could have taken my family to stay at the Borgata in Atlantic City but we were visiting family in PA. I wouldn't even want to see animals have to stay at this place. It should be shit down until renovated. My grandmother had such a horrible experience she said she will not return to come out from her house again. This saddens me greatly. This place deserves negative stars! Like is said shut it down! The indoor pool was disgusting as well. The windows in there were stained with some sort of yellow junk all over them seemed like a really bad mold issue. The pools filters seemed to be off and they tried to mask it all with a heavy amount of chlorine. The room was no where near breathable. Let me start off by saying if I can give this hotel and -10 I would, when you first walk in it looks like a nice hotel but once you start to walk to your room you quickly realize this is a very unsafe hotel and you start to smell a disturbing moldy, feet smell it's pretty disgusting. I booked a two-night stay so there was no way I can get my money back and we had kids with us so we didn't want to look for a new hotel we just try to enjoy the day so we walk into the room my husband goes to the bathroom and all I hear is him slipping on a wet floor to find out that they didn't clean the floors before and he had slipped in somebody else's pee in the bathroom.that's pretty disgusting but the worst part is we had to keep the windows open the whole trip because it smells so bad you would start to gag. The room itself is pretty broken down with lamps that have ripson the stains on the rug stains on the walls also the ice bucket we got had a pile of dirt on the bottom of it so we didn't use it,the beds have no blankets they have a light sheet like blanket and that's supposed to be the comforter. In the morning of the first day we were there for breakfast we went to breakfast in the hotel restaurant it smells very bad and the food was as if it was the food they didn't sell the day before and it was hard, on our way back to the room from breakfast I asked the manager if there was any way we can have another blanket because the light blanket wasn't heavy enough and we had to have the windows open so it was cold and he straight out told us we don't do that the only way to get clean blankets is to trade in the ones you have to the cleaning lady he was very rude and he snatched my room key out of my hand to see what room I had and he asked how many people were in the room as if that mattered when I'm asking for a blanket if you weren't going to give it to me in the first place why even ask me all these questions.the pool area is musty and hot and there's a lot of weird characters hanging around this hotel I didn't feel comfortable leaving out of the hotel room after 5 hanging around the hotel we went straight from our room to the car no stops there was a lot of really weird people they didn't even look like they were staying in the hotel just in the hallways.this was the worst trip I ever took before in my whole life and I really wish I would have looked through reviews while booking the outside looks beautiful but once you get into the inside you realize that it is a complete disaster and a fraud this hotel needs to be shut down completely until somebody can take it over who can renovate and fix it and offer great stays and experiences two families or working people... The guy at the front desk couldn't find our reservation when we arrived even though I had an email with a confirmation number and booked directly through the Wyndham site. He said, "it's not his problem." They ended up having to buy new rooms, but doubled charged us. I tried to dispute the charges amd after an hour and a half of arguing finally got it resolved. We left early and the guy refused to reimburse us. The grounds have trash everywhere, the room smells terrible, paint chipping, carpet rippled and from the 70s, rusted bolts in the bathroom and on the lights, continental breakfast is the saddest thing (some bagels, bread and cereal - all of which was not refilled regularly and only half the toaster worked. God forbid they buy a new toaster that works). SO DISGUSTING. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

If I could give this property zero stars I would. Like everyone said, the property is outdated and not maintained at all. It has in off putting smell in the halls and in the room my sister and stayed. Bring your Lysol, shower shoes and a candle, you are going to need them. I do not know how they still in business. This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed at.Filthy strange men walking the halls at night.The curtains in your room don't close for people to see in from the outside.To top it off they over charged me.Better off to sleep in your car. read more

Absolutely filthy and depressing!! The guy at the front desk was incredibly rude for no reason, the place was extremely run down, dark and smelled of mildew and cigarettes. The floors were so dirty and damp I had to wear flip flops in my room the entire time. The outdoors and parking lot are so unkempt that the place looks abandoned. For an extra $20 a night I could have stayed somewhere much better. Def would never go back!!! read more

Disgusting. The reviews were mixed and we gave it a shot because all the other hotels were booked because of the holiday weekend.We got a room on the 1st floor and the carpets and walls are nasty. We were suppose to be in non smoking but the entire place stunk of cigarettes and wet dog. The bathroom had a horrible smell and there were hairs in the tub and on the toilet. The leather chair in the room had sticky stuff on it and crumbs with God knows what around the edges and back. I put my cell flash light on to check beds for bugs because i was so disgusted, under the matress had food wrappers and a used bandade. The headboards and furniture were covered in dust and dirt. The carpets in the room and entire building looks like it had water damage and were not vacuumed. We paid using a card and because we didnt come until around 9 we could not get a refund. My son's, husband and I stayed here because we needed to stay overnight to go to camelbeach in the morning and did not want to drive 2 hours back to New Jersey and back to PA next day. Rooms look nothing like the pictures on the Internet and everything was very dark, lights in the room are extremely dingy. Even the pool area looks nothing like pics and there is nobody in there to make sure things are running good. Also the sheets seemed clean but the duvet and blanket werw filthy and had stains with cigarette holes. They do not wash them at all. As i passed the rooms being cleaned monday morning i saw the sheets all out on the hall way floor and blankets on floor in the rooms so i watched and they made the beds and put the same old dirty blankets back on the beds with clean sheets. This happened in 2 rooms. So im guessing it happens in all because if they were washing the blankets they would be in hall on floor with the dirty sheets? Where do i begin. This hotel is not what it looks like or is advertised as. I booked this hotel for a night getaway in the Poconos on August 17th 2019 through Booking.com. Upon arriving at the hotel parking lot, i noticed that the hotel outside looked run down and unattended to, but that was just the parking lot. When i went into the lobby area, it was quite clear how much this hotel is not up to par. The seating area in the lobby is used and worn down, and not up to date- that is still not my biggest issue. Upon checking into the hotel, I get my room number and keys which is room 206, after finding the room and not being told that we had to find the staircase bc there was no elevator in the hotel- we finally made it to our room just to find that the door was positioned wide open and the bed linen was thrown in the chairs- in the room. I was disgusted after all of this! No housekeeper was in sight so i am unsure as to why the door was even open and the room was unclean, Yet we were given keys to the room. When i went back down stairs to the lobby, I was ready to leave the hotel and find other accommodations. There were 2 female receptionist at the desk and I explained my issue to them and asked to get refunded for this stay which I paid $218.00. I was upset and disappointed that the hotel was in such poor condition and I honestly did not feel comfortable staying at this hotel any more. After 10 mins of being at the front desk, the receptionist then offered to place me in a different room; at that point, i was no longer interested in staying at this unkempt hotel. I asked to speak to the manager on duty who was NASIM (NAZIM). Nasim (Nazim) who informed me that i would NOT be charged unless i stayed at the hotel; in which i was under the impression that i would not be charged since i was leaving the premises and looking for new accommodations. I then called booking to inform them of the poor conditions and I have been working with booking.com since August 17th in an attempt to get my money back for a room that i did not stay in. Booking.com has called the hotel 3 days in a row in an attempt to get my refund and speak to the manager but as of 8/21/2019 they have not had any luck. I will take further action against this hotel bc of the poor conditions and the false information in which i received regarding my refund by the hotel staff. I would NOT recommend any one to stay at this hotel. I FOUND BETTER HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS nearby at the Holiday Inn Express 1863 W Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA, US, 18360; they were welcoming and clean. read more
