I've stayed at Best Westerns' in the past and they were pretty decent for the price. But this one makes me not want to book a Best Western ever again. The 1-3 star reviews on TripAdvisor is exactly what you should expect. Typical 3-star hotel but they need to figure out to get rid of the damp smell everywhere and do a hard scrub on every surface. Feels gross touching anything. Would've gave it 3 stars but it's too dingy. 5 stars if the average price was $70/night. Paid $159/night. Learned my lesson. Will change review to 4 stars if management can charge me $70/night instead. read more

Smoke filled room. Coffee maker broken, water spraying out of bathroom faucet, and toilet ran all night. It took 3 days to get smoke out and maintenance completed. They promised a discount and I never received it. read more

I have to say, I was very disappointed in the accommodations - the pillows were small and flat and we were unable to obtain any additional pillows, the towels were thin, and the room in general is dated. For the price we paid for the room, I expected far better conditions. read more

Probably a 3 + experience. Property is conveniently located near the highway and there are a couple good restaurants right across the street (Dina's for pizza for sure). It is an older property and there is quite a bit of wear and tear as expected. I have been here the last couple weeks for business and the staff has been excellent, especially day staff. Always pleasant and smiling making sure your stay is going well. Good hot breakfast every day included with the room. I didn't have anyone next door to me until the last night or so and then found out that the walls are a bit thin and you can hear the conversations from the adjacent room somewhat clearly. After a gathering with friends and came back to the hotel at night, the room was not cleaned, no fresh towels either. Called up the front desk and had to go down to the lobby to get the towels due to lack of help. Originally we booked for 3 nights but we checked out after 2 nights and moved to another hotel. In addition, there is no elevator, so for senior citizens like us, it's very cumbersome to drag your suitcases up and down the staircase. The toilet is made for small kids, very inconvenient to do your job, never seen anything like it. All in all, this is a very old hotel with poor service. In all my 50 years of travel, I have never had this kind of experience!!! read more

I was a little hesitant to book this hotel as it did not have an elevator, but that's where my concerns generally ended. The hotel is located right off the side of the road, and is around 2 other hotels and a small shopping area/strip mall across the street (that includes a well stocked liquor/beer store). Check in was a breeze. The front desk clear was super helpful, and have us plenty of options for room choices on the first and second floors. She also set us up with express checkout. The hotel lobby is small (a sofa and a few arm chairs) and the breakfast buffet area is right behind it. It's a little dated, but very clean. Our room was on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. The king bed room was very spacious, with a desk, mini fridge, microwave, dresser, and TV, as well as two large night stands, an arm chair, and an ottoman. The bathroom was nice as well, although the shower head was low for my 6'1" body. The room was super clean, and the housekeepers did a great job the next day. Breakfast was solid: pastries, bread, bagels, eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, fruit cups, coffee, juice, and a waffle maker where you can make fresh waffles. The attendants both days kept the buffet clean and well stocked and on a Saturday and Sunday, only a handful of people were there, so it never felt crowded. The only downside (and they are minor) is that the only ice machine is on the first floor, and the lack of elevator. The staff were always super nice and helpful.. I stayed at this property June 24th to June 29th and experienced property theft out of my room. As I carefully locked my door each time I left the room, it appears that only Housekeeping accessed my room. I assumed the missing property was in Lost and Found but it was not. I contacted both the hotel management as well as Best Western who did nothing to rectify the situation. I lost two shirts and an ipad, unfortunately. I would not stay at this hotel again for fear of losing more property. There is a hotel right next door which was a few dollars more per night but it would have saved me a lot of money in the end. It is very disappointing that Best Western did not respond to such a serious situation. I suggest you remove your property each time you leave your room if you stay at this hotel. read more

I would say this is your basic hotel that you would expect to stop at if you needed a convenient place to stay in the area. I originally would have given it 3 stars because the breakfast, price, and room layout are very average. This gor knocked down for two main reasons. First, the shower drain was horrible. Within minutes the water was up to my ankles and I had to stop shower multiple times to let it drain down before continuing. Second, it was a little chilly in the room and the blankets were thin. No big deal we just turned the heat on. However, the heater rattled was so loudly that there was no way to leave it on and sleep. Overall, the stay was below average and would have been much more pleasant if they stayed up to date on their repairs. read more

Great little hotel that is a bit off of the freeway. I will agree that it is outdated a bit but it is clean and quiet and does that job it is intended for. Staff here is very friendly, starting with the manager and working down. Made us feel at home. Access to room which you have to access from another door but that is ok I like being away from the main building and it was nice and quick to the room and easy access onto the road. Breakfast was decent for your typical continental breakfast which does what it is intended for. The price was decent and I enjoyed the surrounding area. Will def be back to stay here when we visit family in the area again. read more

Visiting family in Hingham, we needed a place to stay in town. The Best Western Rockland is on the Hingham line and convenient from Route 3. First impression, the entrance is hard to find and the lobby smells like chlorine, though there's no pool. The staff was friendly and helpful, explaining parking and the complimentary breakfast. The room is basic, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were on the first floor and had easy access to our car. The breakfast was fine and we were able to score yogurt and fruit. Overall, when I need a place to stay in Hingham, I'll stay there again. read more

By looking at the outside I got worried since I never stayed in this area and the entrance looked small inconspicuous and older; however, once I walked in the first doors and saw the two chairs and fountain I started having hope, then tge second set of doors into the lobby and it was busy. I checked in fast and the front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. Still unsure of how my room was going to be, I entered and was pleased. It smells new, is very clean and very spacious. The bathroom is well set up and clean too. It's comfortable and I'd be fine if I had to stay all week. I again am happy with my Best Western choice. Only recently have I started using them for my travels and I'm starting to like the chain. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

My parents and I were planning to stay there after a family event, however I wasn't able to attend for a medical reason. I called and swapped the reservation to my father however when my parents arrived they were told this was never completed. The person I spoke to at the front desk was able to remedy the situation. What truly made the difference was receiving a phone call from their general manager 2 days later. He was lovely and took the time to explain and correct the situation. First time staying at a Best Western. Last time staying at a Best Western. Wow, are all east coast hotels this expensive? Poor value! I'm a Minnesotan, with midwestern values. I guess most east coast hotels are pricey. Here are the problems with this hotel: -loud noises keep you up or wake you up at night -dilapidated and dated exterior & interior -no tissue box provided -bathroom smelled like urine -stains on ceiling and carpet -no extra blankets (only a thin blanket provided with bed) -cable looks like it was spliced/stolen (certain channels were fuzzy/snowy) -actual cost should have been about $60 -Motel 6 must be nicer read more

The room was dirty and did not look like the bed was changed. When I asked for a clean room they did give us a different room. But when I checked in I asked to pay cash they said it would have to be paid at checkout. At checkout they said the bill was already paid for by the card to hold the security for the room. At the very best giving them 2stars. Kind of weak hotel, basic amenities and older hotel. I'm not sure what the DO NOT DISTURB sign they provides means; neither does the housekeeping staff (just like ALMOST EVERY HOTEL in America) because although the sign was out, they still tried to enter the room while I was showering (because the flip lock was moved, as someone tried to enter) and again while I was drying off. So, if they provide a sign, don't you think the staff should understand the sign. SMARTEN UP, PLEASE!! If check out time is 11 or later, why does the housekeeping staff ignore the DO NOT DISTURB sign and still try to enter your room?? I'm paying for the room till check out time. THATS WHEN I WILL CHECK OUT!! Only stay here if you're in a jam like I was last night. Otherwise, try another hotel. read more

During a renovation my family stayed at Best western Rockland for nearly 3 months.During that time,the staff became almost family.I can't say enough about the people that work there.The breakfast is sensational and Rose is the one to see if you need anything.She is the ultimate professional at what she does.The front desk staff is top shelf.Everyone made us feel so at home. The only negative is the manager,Devesh..He does not appreciate the help he has.During our time there he drove away an excellent front desk person that had been there for 7 years.She loved what she did but she didn't want to work for this man anymore. Clean, easily accessible and 25 minutes to downtown. It is my new alternative to expensive downtown Boston. Staff was helpful and attentive. As a frequent Best Western'r my only disappointment was the breakfast. While the pancakes were tasty and the coffee was hot and fresh I have been spoiled by bigger spreads with omelette bars and juicing in West coast Best Westerns. Great place to stay. Staff was really really friendly. We stayed with two people in the hotel room and two others were sleeping in our RV in the parking lot for free. They were even allowed to come eat breakfast with us without any extra costs. Breakfast was included but not really good. The room was nice and clean. Location is quite convenient, a 35 min taxi ride (~$55) to Boston with normal traffic. Would definitely recommend this place to someone who doesn't want to spend too much money on their hotel. read more

We are Best Western members and booked this hotel, for 3 rooms, a few weeks back. On arrival, we were given rooms fronting on the busy, noisy main road. The hotel staff were businesslike, but not warmly welcoming (if that is important to you). We were all given 2nd floor rooms but the the facility is so old there is no elevator. A couple in our party are over 70 and made lugging bags up the stairs a challenge. No help offered or available by staff. Our room appeared clean but smelled of cigarettes or cigar smoke even though this is a non-smoking hotel. The rooms and hotel are very old and dated . The room fridge was noisy. Two towels were just thrown on the bathroom rack. Upon flushing the toilet the water would not drain and eventually overflowed. No maintenance available and we were moved to a handicap room at 10:30pm as no other rooms were available. The walls are thin and we could hear other rooms TV until after 2:00am and then again at 6:15am. Overall, a very poor experience and one which convinced us we would never stay here again or for that matter any Best Western. Try the Doubletree next door if you are in this area. We imagine that may be a better choice. read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as guests from a wedding party. The lobby and front entrance of the hotel is nice, and extremely deceiving. The room was outdated and smelled terrible, partially of urine and who knows what else. The door stuck so you had to slam it shut it which was extremely loud, the air conditioner/heat vent was filled with dust and was very dirty. The bathroom looked as clean as a dingy outdated bathroom could look but bring your own toilet paper and towels. I also woke up to a housekeeper shouting on a cellphone cleaning a room down the hall. If it weren't for the trolley service provided from the wedding, and the beverages to help me forget the stench, I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. I would not stay here again, or recommend this hotel to anyone. I gave two stars because the front desk was friendly and easy to deal with, and breakfast was included. read more

The rooms are all being renovated spring of 2016. I came in from CA, stayed in one of the new rooms and it was great. The building is older so the rooms are big, comfortable and quiet. Newly renovated so very clean. This was the best price I found within an easy drive of Boston. It's right off Rte 3 which makes it very convenient to all points on the South Shore including Cape Cod. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Bella's, an excellent Italian restaurant with a lively bar scene is next door. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Horrible experience. My husband made a reservation for my son at Best Western Rockland. Since my son was not 21, the night manager cancelled his reservation and turned him away from the hotel at 11 PM to sleep in the street. Night manager said "21 to rent a room was a state law" - there is no such law. Night manager was unreasonable. Thank goodness there are other hotels in Rockland where the hotel personnel are kind and compassionate. This is NOT the situation at the Best Western - recommendation - stay somewhere else!!! read more
