If you are looking for a comfortable nights sleep after a day of hiking or skiing, DO NOT stay…read morehere! I will start by saying the area where the hotel is located is beautiful and the lobby area was lovely and cozy. We never met any of the staff during our stay as we didn't check in until 12AM as we attended the Scottish Festival in Lincoln all day snd evening, and there was no one at the desk when we checked out at 11 AM. Breakfast is over very early at 9 AM. We felt that is too early for breakfast to be over as we didnt get to sleep until 1 am so we missed it. The room was large, clean, but outdated and had no mini fridge for the leftovers we had so we had to discard them. Our biggest issue were the beds. When I say they were the cheapest, most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in I'm not exaggerating. It felt like a thin layer of cardboard over metal springs. When I first laid down I couldnt believe how uncomfortable it was. I could feel metal springs poking me all over my body. The floor would have been more comfortable! We tossed and turned all night and got a horrible sleep and woke up exhausted, sore and in pain. For $200 a night, it's not worth it to stay here! Please purchase new mattresses! At the very least if you are too cheap to do that, buy a thick, memory foam mattress topper!

When we arrived, Rae greeted us and checked us in. Our room was way larger than I expected and even though the furniture was a little outdated, our stay was fantastic. The heater worked really well and the water got hot really fast. In the mornings, we had the free breakfast which was a small selection of bread, pastries, yogurt, and microwaveable sandwiches. The inn was also super close to the slopes which is a bonus. Checking out was super easy. After we left, my bf realized he forgot his Apple Watch so Rae found it and held onto it for us until we were able to come back and grab it. Thank you Rae for making our stay fantastic!!

If that's you, congratulations. You've found your destination. At the Snow Owl Inn, management will never trouble you with interruptions like "quiet hours" or "basic courtesy." Your young athletes can bang on every guest room door in the building, shriek with unrestrained joy, and conduct impromptu hallway scrimmages at 10 p.m. without anyone stepping in. Parental exhaustion, road-trip apathy, and total abdication of responsibility are all fully supported here. And if you're a connoisseur of mid-70s ski-lodge décor -- the kind that's not just vintage but extremely broken-in -- you're in for a treat. Every amenity has that perfectly worn, gently dilapidated charm that really completes the experience. So no, this isn't a bad review. It's simply salute to the only travelers who will truly appreciate everything the Snow Owl Inn has to offer.

We we're pleased pulling up: pretty exterior, amazing setting nestled in the White Mountains. Check in went well, I thought peasant girl at the desk. Got to the room on the top floor...warm, so we head to the thermostat..."Heat Only" the hand- written note said! WTF!? We opened the windows and discovered little fans in each room. I woke up at midnight, sweating like a pig. At my wits-end, I stumble down to he desk in my jammie pants Loking for a portable a/c. The woman was nice enough, but couldn't help. "Some units have 'em, some don't - it's up to the individual owners." With the windows open, we can hear everyone coming and going. It's almost 1:00am...still hear 'em. Can't fault them, it's Friday night and they're vacation. Traveling with an infant is hard enough...dealing with temps and noise on top of it...I'm on pins and needles. Be warned. This is not a hotel. This is a condominium, with absentee landlords, managed by the desk, who can't do much to help you. With a/c...4 stars. It's A lovely looking place. Hot tub was out of order too. Sleepless and boiling in the Mountains; feeling bamboozled. Wah, poor me. (I'm not usually One to complain, but this was warranted). Update...I sent an email and they quickly responded with a portable A/c unit for the rest of our stay. It was only good for the bedroom area, but good enough to get some sleep. Thanks G.E.L. Even though the grounds are unkept, the rooms are as if you stepped back in 1985 and never updated. We stayed here twice in separate rooms and it seems to be the same theme. Not that you're here to watch TV, but small computer monitors for TVs, a toilet makes you feel like you're sitting on the ground, a single Home Depot portable air conditioning unit and a single fan that does nothing when the temp outside is above 75, broken , stained carpet, the list goes on. Let's not forget the basic necessity like lack of an ice machine. Pretty sad to see a once great hotel and one with great potential completely lose its charm

We went during the off season and since it wasn't very full, he upgraded our room for free so we had extra space and a couch, which we really appreciated. The rooms were nice and quiet in the evening, probably because we were mostly alone in our area. In the morning though, the soundproofing was definitely lacking. I took off one star because there was loud power drilling starting at 6:30 a.m. that went on for about an hour, which was pretty insane. Breakfast was good. I especially liked the grab and go yogurts, and the coffee was available all day in a really nice machine that grinds the beans fresh for each brew. The pool area could use a little maintenance since there were a few issues, but overall it was still nice to have access to a hot tub.

Showers are large and have good shower heads. The room has a refrigerator but no small freezer so your ice packs don't have a place to freeze up again for the cooler. My only disappointment was the single seating place in the room. The chair is awful to sit in if you want to watch TV. (Note to Hampton Inn managers - get decent club chairs that you can put your arms up on and relax. Not everyone likes to lie down in bed to watch TV. Otherwise, nice hotel. Comfortable beds and the AC works well. I stayed in room # 402 and the bathroom had a major flaw - two heavy glass panel doors for the shower would not stay shut, no matter how I tried to position them. Both panels would slam open constantly - only options were to have the bathroom floor flood while showering, or try to shower with one hand while holding the door shut with the other. Not good - needs to be checked asap... if I had been staying longer than one night, I would have had to mention it for sure.
