I used to go to this casino only 15 minutes from my house years before the renovation and I dont…read moreremember the ambience too well but I kinda have a recollection of it being a little dumpy. However back then it had one Cafe if memory serves me right and I could get fish and chips for $5 and no tax. I also think it had smoking which it no longer does. I would slip in later at night for the black jack video game and thought I was so cool trying to count cards. Many years later I started going with my second wife cause she likes to play what she calls "video poker", which is really just slot machines but she is from Oregon so she is weird. They no longer have smoking and due have free soda and coffee which I have my own special tricks to make my own drinks but I wont incriminate myself. We now mainly go for karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays which has a largely older and hispanic crowd that we both like. While pretending to not be old and her being of Mexican Origin we blend in well. We also sing some of the more upbeat songs in the place and sing ok so I think we had some youthful energy. Obviously for a casino you want to know what the gambling is like. The slots afe fun and they have some of the latest games as well as video poker for cheap at the bar, craps, blackjack, and roulette. I am sure lots of other games I dont play like Keno. I often joke with her that she steals from the rez and gives to the white man in Vegas because she has turned $20 into $1k and gave it all to the white man on our trips to Nevada. They also have bingo which seems very populR with the lines they have. I play live table craps and its fun but the other players especially regulars seem like pills. A lot of blowing on the dice and a lot of other nonsense that may seem like it works for them, but their attitudes are weird. Had one guy ask me not to stand by him, but im a big guy and didnt care about his voodoo thoughts. I have won quite a bit but have lost enough to not put up with the weird regulars. As for food and drink there are multiple bars and restaurants that all have great service till some crazy lines form on Friday and Saturday nights. My favorite is the tequila bar where they have the best servers especially during Karaoke and we have gotten to know them well. They also have three dance floors and a lot of hot Latinas on Saturday nights that may outshine Westgate as the Scottsdale of the westside for Mexican women. About the dance floors: the one in the back by the Tequila bar tends to have a slant toward the older crowd, however there are some younger women in there. The floor by the bar in the middle of the Casino has younger baddies that want to show off their skills. Then there is the boots and brews stage inside the sports book. I havent seen a lot of action there but I also dont stay late so maybe they get a lot of cowgirl and cow boys in there. All I know is it gets popping on Saturday night. As for food and drink, you have got a lot of options. At one time the Tequila bar and its dance floor next door was a Ditkas Steakhouse which gave your typical football coach class, but I dont remember being impressed. The Tequila bar from what I know has some form of ownership from George Lopez who I think is funny and made a great movie about Carl Hayden High schools robotics program. While my high school Maryvale slaughtered them in football I appreciate the Westside/Southside significance. Enough of my boring nostalgia but I must say that Tequila bar has amazing short rib taquitps for $9 at last check. If you eat anything at Vee Quiva. Now if you have a few drinks and lose your pay load, go the Panda like we do. They also have a chicken sandwich joint and a Cafe that has fried bread and pretzels which are great. They also have a sit down restaurant with casino famed primed rib and typical diner food which I have tried and cant say it was remarkable, but I am also comparing it to Tequila bars short rib taquitos. That bar also has great guacamole and affordable tasty Margaritas with the option for tajin. Happy hour is also great at all bars with the signature "King" brer options which I think are from local turned Budweiser sell outs Four peaks. I can go on and on but bottom line this is an amazing west side casino with a great Karaoke DJ and great service. I also went to pool parties there that were fun with Karaoke but im starting to run out of data and battery to keep typing.

We paid extra for a suite. The room stunk. It smelled like old dirty socks. Did not even smell clean. Our shoes stuck to the floor as we walked across it. Apparently, this hotel must be hurting because they could not even afford to put trash bag liners in the trash cans, Yeah, of course the hotel was full. Not enough employees. (One person coffee shop on Sunday am doesn't work.) It was just nasty. We won't be back.

Staid at Gila River Resorts while in town for a conference being held at their resort. We had a…read moreroom on the top floor. The rooms were nice and clean and well maintained. The bathroom lights above the shower did not work, they would flicker then go off. The tissue box was empty at check in besides the tissue rose made on top. There were issues with the "mini bar" sensor at check in and someone had to come check on it later in the week. We didn't get service on some days of stay even with the "Service Please" Sign on the room door. The pool is open until 10pm, however the pool bar closes at 6pm and they had people exit their cabana rentals at 7pm. The drinks at the bar were severely over priced and mediocre at best. We paid $43 for 2 margaritas at the pool bar that tasted like blended water with a splash of margarita mix. The umbrellas at the pool had to be closed most of the time due to the winds, which also blew all types of debris and trash into the pools causing a bad look. One of our party was double charged at the pool bar, and they expressed that they could not reverse the charge and if they did it would take 7-10 days to return to the card, but refused to give us the extra drink because they couldn't serve more than 2 drinks within 30 minutes to the same person...even though there was 6 of us in the party and she was charged for 3 drinks, twice. Which could have been one per person in our party. The mobile bars within our evening reception drinks were higher priced in there than on the casino floor, so we all left our reception, to get drinks and come back. Drinks were on average $4-8 more than at the bar at the casino. One of the girls in our group personal cards was charged not only for the deposit amount for the stay but then the remainder of the balance for the first night and then again for the rest of her stay, causing her bank account to be nearly cleared out. In which the front desk staff told her there was nothing they could do, and that it would go back to her card Friday at the earliest (this was Tuesday). As we were there on business the rooms were prepaid with CC authorizations on file for the cost of the room rate + resort fees, so she was left with no money to pay for food or anything else for the rest of the week, and they could not provide any help and did not have any managers on property. We were able to track down a manager in a different department who was at least able to get her a food comp to pay for her meal thankfully. We were really excited to stay at Gila River, we had heard many great things about this property and were were unimpressed with the level of guest service.

Another place pushing drivers out with no thought to where trucks are supposed to go. Truckers brought business--food, gaming, everything. Now that's gone too. Bad decision all around.

The Fiesta Bowl has been in existence since 1971 and was hosted by Sun Devil Stadium until they moved to State Farm Stadium in 2007. There have been a handful of college national champions decided at this bowl. In 1998, the Fiesta Bowl hosted the first BCS National Championship Game. Out of all the teams in college football, Ohio State has made more appearances than any other team. I attended my first Fiesta Bowl in 1997 when I received free tickets to the game. Since 2000, I have been a Fiesta Bowl season ticket holder and have attended almost every game since then with my good friend from college. I also at times volunteer to be a balloon handler in the Fiesta Bowl parade. I love the Fiesta Bowl organization and all the charity work that they do in this community. They are currently sponsored by Playstation. They used to be sponsored by Tostitos and we would get a free chips and salsa when we attended the game. One of my favorite things to do is to tailgate in the parking lot and party with fans that travel here from other schools. There have been so many memorable games over the years. One of the most memorable games I attended was the 2003 BCS title game in which Ohio St beat Miami in double overtime. It is also nice to look back and see how many future NFL stars I have seen play in the Fiesta Bowl over the years like Andrew Luck, Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Trevor Lawrence & Joe Borrow. I'm a huge college football fan and have enjoyed this holiday tradition of going to the Fiesta Bowl for the past 20 years. I look forward to many more games in the future.

This year, #9 Penn State was selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl vs #11 Washington. Coming in, Penn…read moreState was the favorite and playing with Marcus Allen, Jason Cabinda, DaeSean Hamilton, Mike Gesicki and possibly Saquon Barkley for the last time. To give them an amazing farewell, our fans traveled well! The Nittany Lions started off strong, with a beautiful Trace McSorley pass to DaeSean Hamilton for a 48 yard touchdown! Later, Penn State's success continued as they drove straight down the field for a Saquon Barkley touchdown to make it a 14-0 Penn State lead. When the game looked like it was all Penn State, Washington responded with a trick play that took them down to the 10 yard line. Eventually, Jake Browning snuck in for a touchdown, to get Washington on the board. However, when momentum looked like it was shifting Washington's way, Penn State responded with a Mike Gesicki third-down conversion and a DeAndre Thompkins catch on the 1 yard line, which lead to a Miles Sanders touchdown. Eventually, Penn State got the ball back on their own 8 yard line and it was time for Saquon Barkley to make his mark. He found a hole and was off and running 92 yards to the house to make it a 28-7 Penn State lead! Penn State was able to get the ball again and have a chance to put the game way, but a costly fumble lead to a Myles Gaskin score. Eventually, half-time came and went and Washington got the ball. They then went on to drive down the field for a touchdown to make it a one-score game. However, Trace McSorley lead Penn State right down the field for a DaeSean Hamilton back shoulder touchdown catch to put Penn State up 35-21! Penn State had another chance to put the game away with the ball in the red-zone, but McSorley had another unlucky interception, which lead to a long Myles Gaskin score. Washington was within one touchdown again. Penn State once again drove down the field up by one touchdown and had a chance to put the game away with a Tyler Davis field goal, but from 45 yards away, he pulled it. Luckily, Washington had no time outs and only 30 seconds to score. With 15 seconds left, Jake Browning converted a fourth-down, but a hook and later lead to a fumble recovered by Brandon Smith!!! The best part was when #9 (and moving up) Penn State got the W. 35-28 #WeAre
