INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER CARE AND SERVICE!!!…read more I'm writing this review with a headline because after 4 years of ongoing dental work, I still choose Dr. Sam Castillo over every other Dentist in Stephens County because of the exceptional level of care and quality. I could literally write an essay about how well everyone at Dr Sam's practice has treated us because myself, my wife, and my daughter are all patients at Castillo dentistry. My very first visit was an emergency call bc of an abscess tooth. While they do accept a lot of different insurance, I had none, had never been there, and had called several other dentists in town, but no one could work me in before the following week. I spoke with Serena and told her my problem and she had me in the office a few hours later that same afternoon. Dr. Sam took time to listen to everything I told him, got the abscess under control, and got the tooth out. Since I've never had insurance it's important for me that I get the best care possible on a tight budget; after an emergency visit, 2 x-rays of the abscess, the extraction, and 2 follow up visits because of a dry socket, the whole ordeal cost me less than $300.00 because they didn't even charge me for the follow up visits, and both were walk-ins. On two separate occasions I had a stubborn infection that took almost 10 days to get under control and Dr. Sam always worked me in and saw me himself to make sure he was aware of my personal care, adjusted my antibiotics, and made sure that even though I had these incredibly painful infections I was as comfortable as possible. He and his staff have always treated us with something better than professionalism, they have always treated us like family. Something I would like to add is how personal and friendly the staff in the office, as well as the hygienists and assistants, are. Serena and Matt are the husband/wife team who are usually your first point of contact and they always set the tone for a great visit. Serena is Dr. Sam's daughter, and she works alongside her mom, who is a hygienist herself, in what truly is a family business. The last thing I'll say is that I am personally impressed with the fact that Castillo family dentistry is proudly Christian owned and operated. They don't cram Jesus down your throat, but you can feel the genuine love of Christ in every interaction, with every single person, every single time. Christian music is playing and there are devotional materials to read as you wait, and there are other spiritual materials available to take with you if you choose. If you're still reading, I apologize for this lengthy review. But after 4 years of care for myself and my family, I have a lot of good things to say about Castillo family dentistry. I encourage anyone who needs dental care to go meet the family at Castillo dentistry and see why I say that they are not just friendly to my family, they are friends. I guess they figured they would drive me to the point of sheer exhaustion and wear down my resistance to the plan. Complete waste of my day. I waited a week for this appointment. He contradicts himself from one visit to the next. When you have a serious medical condition, and try to explain the precautions for procedures, he huffs, "It doesn't matter." He didn't even try to help with the reason for my visit on this particular day. All he wanted to discuss was an upcoming procedure, which is not happening with him. He said one thing the first visit and a totally different thing this time. He's all over the place. I will find a kind and competent dentist that listens to medical concerns. And by the way, I have friends and family who have left the practice since Dr Owen took over, because of some of the same things I am sharing now. However, his assistant was a helpful and polite young man. I am blessed to be surrounded by kind, competent and compassionate medical professionals. Unfortunately, Dr (??) Owens is not one of them.

When I contacted the office they let me know that Dr Owens is the only dentist that is still there (guess all the other dentists that used to work there left) and they would be happy to schedule an appointment for me but then they would have to refer me out anyway because Dr Owens can't do the same dental procedures that Dr Jackson and Dr Kang did when they were there. Why would they leave doctors on their website that aren't working there anymore? If they can't even keep their website updated, can I trust them with my dental care? Actual dentist work was efficient and she gave many helpful tips. We don't like getting X-rays and think it's a whole scam, but that's beyond the scope of this review. Here though they weren't super pushy with the x-rays, except when dad had a questionable area. Liked the straightforwardness when the dentist said he couldn't proceed without them. So dad caved in, and got them anyways.
