My son went to preschool in the Yarok class and he loved it! Amanda the director is fantastic and is really involved. There were a few teacher changes but the last teacher he had was Ms Jeanine who is absolutely amazing! She really paid attention to his progress, promoted good behavior and was really good with his potty training. If we didn't move to elementary school we would definitely have kept him here. 5 stars! read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The preschool comes second to the synagogue. It is run( I use this term loosley) by Beth and Amanda who have no experience whatsoever in the field of education. They had a few good teachers at one point and I believe only one remains. They charge steep price and hire incompetent employees who are no where near qualified. For the sake of your children stay away from this place at all cost! read more

Temple Beth Sholom preschool was the most amazing experience we ever had for our daughter. She made real relationships and friendships with other kids, she had fantastic teachers, we always felt safe, and the director always helped us with our family needs. We have three children who attended Beth Sholom Pre-School. Our children thrived in that environment and are very loving sociable children . The entire staff have an genuine passion for teaching. Miss. Edna (head of the school) is the best, and understands children and knows how to bring out the best in them. She has over 20 years experience and it shows as she patiently works with each individual child. My 5 year old twins continue to talk about their favorite teachers and Miss Edna and my 13 year old fondly recalls memory's at Beth Sholom. We feel that Beth Sholom has thoroughly prepared and provided the necessary tools for our children to continue forward with their academia lives. read more

We looked at different preschools before making a decision for our 2-year-old, and Beth Sholom was an obvious choice for us. I appreciate the Jewish-based learning and the fact that the director speaks Hebrew, but more than anything, I love the energy and the focus on kids learning by enjoying themselves. Kids don't need a bunch of rules - they need to be safe and loved and to grow through activities and FUN. They have music, book readings, gymnastics, and lots of art. They also help Ms. Edna cook, or prepare Challah for Friday! My son loves the preschool, and often I have a hard time getting him to say 'bye' at the end of the day when it's time to go home! I love picking him up and seeing all the art he's created during the day. He's learned a ton of important skills, like socializing with other kids, cleaning up after himself, washing hands before eating, and even saying a prayer before having a snack or a meal. It's a very structured day, and while I bring his lunch (no meat or shellfish), the preschool provides healthy snacks in the morning and afternoon. Both my kids went to this preschool. I highly recommend it. Ms. Edna, the director, has the patience of a saint, good communication skills and has a very compassionate heartfelt way of relating to the kids as well as the parents. My daughter was very challenging to the staff. She was not diagnosed to be on the spectrum. However, her behavior sometimes seemed to be extreme. I was always impressed with the patience and compassion of Ms. Edna as well as the rest of the staff. My daughter is now much more well adjusted to her school environment and we owe a great deal of that to the wonderful education she received at TBS preschool. Mr. Barry comes every Tuesday to have special activity time with the kids. He is amazing with them and that time should be considered another great aspect to this school. read more

My daughter is starting her third year at this preschool. She's hit several milestones while here from potty training to reading her first few words. It has been amazing to watch her development into an independent and thoughtful little girl. The curriculum at this school has been wonderful. It's fun and playful but the little ones are always learning and their curiosity is always growing. I love that they encourage learning through asking questions. A simple concept that will serve them well in the future. The teachers are all warm and loving. They helped greatly with my daughter's early morning separation anxiety. Ms. Edna is awesome. She knows about her kids and their families. She provides opportunities for the parents and children to become a community. We loved our time at Beth Sholom! Our boys were loved and cared for by a generous and thoughtful staff. They offer enrichment in gymnastics, music, and more which is all included in the price, so every student gets the same education. The teachers are all so loving and genuinely care about the kids. There are a variety of activities for the kids to do, indoor and outdoor play. They learn so many different things- letters, seasons, science, music- and they are having fun while doing it! Our boys made what we hope will be lifelong friends here, and I know our whole family was sad that our time has ended. Our boys are leaving preschool prepared to enter TK because of Beth Sholom. My nephew just graduated from this preschool and had an amazing experience! He loved all of the staff and couldn't wait to go to school everyday. Ms Edna is the absolute best! This school is a hidden gem. The education and care my daughters receive is unparalleled. One of my daughters has just started kindergarten, while my other daughter has begun her last year at Beth Sholom. My older daughter is starting kindergarten knowing all of her letters, how to read and write many words, able to recognize numbers, count, and do addition and subtraction. In short, she's beyond ready for kindergarten. Aside from the top notch education, my girls have gotten so much love and support from the staff. They clearly care for my kids (and for all their students). My daughters don't want to leave when I pick them up at the end of the day. And, the drive home is filled with them singing the songs they have learned at school. The Jewish education is seamlessly weaved into each day. It's educational without being pushed on the kids. There are kids of all religions and ethnicities in the classroom, and everyone is valued. Ms. Edna is caring and thoughtful, having a personal relationship with each of the kids and families. She runs the school flawlessly. My wife and I are grateful for all that TBS has done for our kids and family. I can't recommend this school enough. read more

Both my children attended Beth Sholom and thrived! I loved the fact that they take the kids still in diapers and assist with potty training. The teachers are all caring and friendly; they will take care of your sweet little one as good as their own. My children made a handful of very close friends that we still stay in contact with. The curriculum is very age appropriate and they do a lot of hands on teaching. The variety really makes for an all around great learning environment. My son attended Beth Sholom Preschool for two years (ages 3-4). Edna, the director, is fantastic. I learned so much about parenting just from watching her interact with the kids. It is very reflective of the Bay Area, with kids from all different backgrounds, including bi-racial kids like mine. While my son was there, his dad and I separated, and the school helped us keep the transition as smooth as we could. There is a social worker, Iris, who gives parent workshops and she was able to help me quite a bit. The preschool will help you join Temple Beth Sholom if you wish, and once you join, you are family. We keep up with some of my son's former preschool classmates at temple and all the kids are doing well in school. Probably because they had such a great start at the preschool :D read more

My son attended Beth Sholom for two years, from just after his 3rd birthday until the start of kindergarten. He thrived there and I feel he is well prepared for kindergarten. The director, Ms Edna, is amazingly patient with the children, and responsive to parents' questions and concerns. When there was a little bit of a bullying situation, she talked it through with the class and the problem disappeared. I would highly recommend Beth Sholom. What can I say about Beth Sholom. It was been a very pleasant time for my son Noah. He began his time there when he was two years old until he moved onto kindergarten. This is not your typical pre-school. It is so much more. They do a lot of activities outside of the scope of the normal day, which is wonderful because it allows the parents to see the children and a chance to meet other parents and connect. They keep the children engaged, every week my son would come home with the projects he worked on. This was very pleasant to watch him grow. Another aspect about this school we have come to appreciate is the spiritual side. This has been such a blessing on our walk in faith. I am so grateful that I found Beth Shalom Preschool. My grand-daughter has flourished under the care of Miss Edna and her wonderful teachers. Our son has been attending Beth Sholom for a little over a year, and we've been very happy with experience. We checked out a lot of preschools and daycares in the area and although we're not Jewish, we picked Beth Sholom because it simply had the warmest, most stimulating environment. They keep the kids really busy with music, gymnastics, outdoor play, and lots and lots of art. There are also a lot of family activities--insect night, a yearly carnival, pizza night--at which we have been able to see how much our son loves it there, and have gotten to know other parents. Beth Sholom Preschool is a hidden gem of San Leandro. They take children at age two (no potty training required) up to ready for kindergarten. The school teaches a different letter of the alphabet each week, so each class is learning the same theme, but at their own level. The outdoor play area is large and the kids get plenty of time to run around. Our son brings home art every single day and has made tons of friends. He's recently moved up to the 3's class and we, and he, couldn't be happier with his school and his teachers. My family had a wonderful experience at Beth Sholom Preschool. The teachers and staff are caring, insightful, and absolutely amazing. My son attended from Feb 2015 - Jul 2016. He was always happy and excited to be dropped off at 7am. He required assistance from paraprofessionals from an outside organization, and Ms Edna was brilliant about accommodating this need. Temple Beth Sholom Preschool is a rare find! We started here a little over a year ago and if I had known about it sooner we would have started sooner. Even though I commute to and from Oakland and it adds on a lot of commute time to my day it is totally worth it! The school has been around a long time, the director, Edna is incredible with the kids and the parents. She really models good behavior and communication and this trickles down to everyone. She runs a tight ship! The staff turn over is low...another sign of a well run place, she is always open to parent suggestions and is dedicated and always goes above and beyond. I wanted my son to have a lot of Jewish exposure before going to public school and even though only about 30 % of the students are Jewish ( which means b/c so many neighborhood kids there it is very diverse which is also a huge plus for us) all the curriculum is Jewish and the rabbi comes to the classes most shabbats and they make challah every Shabbat. There are enrichment programs every week with a storyteller, a couple different music teachers and gymnastics. We LOVE Jenny the main teacher in the 3's room. We actually love all the teachers but she is the one my son has had so far the longest and he LOVES her. There are a lot of opportunities for parents to connect with various evening programs throughout the year and all the parents come to these which is amazing since it is mainly 2 working parent families! We are exceptionally happy here and will be sad to leave next year. read more
