I am 62. I've had dealings with many physicians throughout that time and one GP for appx 30 years…read more I left his practice not because of the doctor, but because of recurring issues with the staff (not getting messages to him, or his RN that could sometimes help vs seeing him, getting prescriptions correct, setting me up for an incorrect appointment, for example needing to be seen for a cold, pre-COVID, and getting a Flu-Shot instead). I switched to Dr. Motakhaveri after seeing how well he took care of my 83 year old Mom, who is cantankerous, and doesn't get along with anyone pretty much. He is very laid back, and does not show a lot of outward emotions, but I can tell you first hand he cares and asks enough questions that he will understand what the problem is or know who to refer me to for further consultation, then follow-up. When he finds out someone does something wrong (such as another care provider, as was the case recently with my Mom who was treated incorrectly at an emergency room), he will correct the deficiencies and you will see some emotion when he feels care has been insufficient. His Nurse, Adeline, is awesome and they make a great team. I can reach her using an app and an on line website (or simply call and leave a message) and have always had a response that day, and sooner if an emergency. She even helped look for a waiver for my Mom's expensive medicine to help her with Medicare and her costs and provided her a sample in an emergency. She has the same "Patient First" attitude he does. I recently had to move to California for 3 years for a job and when I arrived the COVID-19 threat presented itself. I could get no physician set up here in Cali to be my GP as no one was at work for the first month or so. In the interim I asked Dr. Motakhaveri and Adeline if they could help, and boy did they. He called and told me he understood and would be happy to help with what he could until I could line up a regular doctor here, which took another month or so after our discussion. I look forward to my return to the Gulf Coast for many reasons, but one at the top of my list is having Dr Motakhaveri as my GP again. If you are looking for a conversationalist, someone to talk about your fishing trip our your grand kids, he would not be my first choice, but if you want a smart, caring physician, who knows what he is doing, and doggedly pursues your medical issues until he has the correct resolution, this is the advocate I would have on my side! What a doctor and what a staff!

Bored.. that was how he acted when i met him. He gave "because I said so" answers. My questions…read morewere met with, "Are you a doctor?".. and "What medical school did you go to?" He was snide, rude to my child, and ignored my husband. I did not get a feeling of safety or trust from him. i left and discussed this with people at my church. They recommended Dr. Kulpa, in Ocean Springs. And, for as bad as Motakhaveri was.. Dr. Kulpa is EXCELLENT! Re-think this person.. he is really an awful physician. i was not impressed with the man either. UGH!

"To whom it may concern, Today, my boyfriend's grandfather is being discharged from your hospital. This was our first time here, and we wanted to tell you how impressed we are with your staff. You have hired a truly excellent team of nurses and doctors. We have been very proactive at renovating Grandpa's house to make it more accessible to him, but he managed to fall in the shower and break his neck. We were stabilized at Ocean Springs and they wanted to transfer us to Pascagoula, but our experiences there were less than safe and we would only go there if it was our last option. Grandpa was put into ICU so that a halo could be put in place. My boyfriend and I expressed our concerns to Dr. Terry Smith that Grandpa really doesn't do well in hospitals, and that when his mental status declined, we would want to be at his bedside around the clock. The ICU charge nurse said it would not be best for the floor if we stayed with him in ICU, so Dr. Smith arranged to move Grandpa to Orthopedics within a few hours of the halo being in place and deciding that his position was stable. That was Friday, May 15th. We have now spent four nights in your hospital. Despite the sink not working, and the sound on the TV being broken, we are incredibly impressed. Because those things don't matter, especially when the staff made sure that we didn't want to switch rooms and did their best to accommodate us. Your staff is incredible! We would like to recognize two nurses in particular - Sarah and Cody, of the orthopedics floor. Both nurses gave meds on time. Sarah has worked with us on three day shifts. She is a true patient advocate, and was happy to explain anything we didn't understand. Sarah talked to us and made sure we were involved in Grandpa's care. Cody worked the night shift with us and he was proactively watching the room camera and came in to see if Grandpa wanted pain medication when he started fidgeting - before we woke up and noticed that he was hurting. Cody would come in every two hours with assistance from techs/nurses turning Grandpa or getting him out of bed, and we were confident that he could handle the weight. He also took instruction from us when we told him how Grandpa best responds to directions - something many healthcare professionals choose to ignore. I hope that you will consider becoming a part of the Daisy Award program, or that you will find some other way to recognize excellence in your staff. This is the first e-mail I have sent to any of the hospitals we've stayed at; we are so very impressed. Thank you for the care of Grandpa Jack."

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I went to the ER in the middle of the night. The nurse took my temperature and blood pressure. That's it! I sat in a room for one hour and fifteen minutes without seeing ANYONE. I politely went to the nurses station, cut my wristband off and threw it in the trash. I went back to my hotel and started taking more aspirin. Then one month later, I received a bill for over $1,000... These people are hilarious. Please shut that hospital down. Under the guidance of my attorney, I advised them to leave me alone or I would be taking legal action.
