10/23/19 In my last review called Fetish, I talked a little…read morebit about being adopted. It got me thinking about Child and Family Services Agency. Up until just a few minutes ago, I knew then as just Child and Family Services. No matter, no matter, it's all good. As infant, I was raised by my foster parents who I think of as my parents. I was raised in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood. Some might say it's why I have adopted the speech, attitude, clothing style and maybe even mannerisms of Caucasians... my answer is this...possibly...., but what does it matter? If I hadn't been raised by my mom and dad, I honestly don't know how I would have turned out. As a kid I found I loved the music of the 50', 60, 70, 80, and 90's. Most of the time I requested to listen to the oldies music. I still do to this day and it drives my wife crazy. I am not big on music artists like (if you call it music) Cardi B, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Halsey and several others. The music just isn't for me...not yet anyways...maybe it will grow on me years later like Stone Temple Pilots did. Anyways, growing up, I remember Christmas time with the family and the clothes I received. In the early stages I did not appreciate the clothes I was given, because toys and electronics (like Nintendo) got in the way. Later on I came to appreciate the clothes. Why? You ask, because I hated the way jeans felt on my skin. It wasn't until junior high school that i wanted to fit in more so i started wearing jeans. It wasn't till after college that I really went back to sweatpants. My mother till about the age of 5 till 11 told me if I ever wanted to know who my real parents were, she could find out. This would be with the help of Child and Family Services Agency. I did not want to, because I had anger in me. At a young age, you might not know the full story of why a parent(s) might give their child up for adoption. My mother had a heart to heart talk with me and the put out the fire within me. I am glad my biological mother and/or father did not have an abortion. One or both decided to have the child, but since he, she or they couldn't raise me, the gave me up for adoption. I have a great mother and father. (I will miss you mom, but you have one appreciative son) Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas were wonderful times to spend with family. It never seem strange that I and my sister (who also is adopted) were the only African Americans in a sea of Caucasians family members...okay that might not be true, but I was a kid. I remember some other black kids and white kids telling me I talk like a white man. NO, I talk like an educated person, what's your excuse? I didn't use much slang back when I was a kid and some of the student bodies didn't like that. (I will get more into that in the Fetish review) In College at Marshall University I was studying when I received a prank phone call when I figured out very quickly, but played along with. The ladies who called me ended up talking to me for over an hour. About three or four days later I recieved another phone call from one if the ladies who pranked called me. Turns out she liked my voice, but it took her some time to figure out what number mine was. We did end up meeting about when she saw me, her eyes did a double take. She was so sure I was white, that it took her a while to get use to it. She liked it more that I was African American, but her mind was blown the moment she found out who she was talking to. My ex-wife had the same look on her face the first time she met me. Nevertheless, today I have seen more mixed couples and kids and I like this. I have met a few parents who have a different skin complexion who are the parents pride and joy. My mom and dad wanted a daughter and son. I don't know how many place they went to or how many times they tried to have children, but I was picked by them and so was my sister. I have my parents and Children and Family Services to thank. Without them, I could have been a very different person.

I feel like I need to offset the review below... I'm sad that Dendroica had a negative experience…read more It's probably weird to say you love a doctor's office, but I LOVE this place. I "interviewed" many nephrologists in the city before deciding on this practice. I knew I would require lifelong care, so choosing a physician who was not just competent but also "got me" and my lifestyle was extremely important. Dr. Habwe is amazing-- one of the most capable, compassionate doctors I have ever encountered. She has 100s of patients, but somehow whenever you speak to her, you feel as though you are her only one. I not only feel completely confident in her care, but actually look forward to seeing her. She is also incredibly tenacious about helping you get necessary care from other specialists, when necessary. Full time doctor and advocate, and part time social worker and confidante. The best in the city, as far as I am concerned. Additionally, her front desk staffers-- Sandy and Eleanore-- are lovely. I got pre- and post- kidney transplant hugs from both of them. (and of course, they are helpful in terms of scheduling and lab follow-up work, too). Nephrology Center also has an in-house nurse to draw labs, which makes the whole process incredibly convenient. I've also never had a problem with insurance or billing. Dealing with a short term or chronic health ailment is never awesome, and of course we'd all prefer never to see doctors at all. But if you have bean troubles, I'd never hesitate to refer you to this practice. And if you see them over the long term, I bet they become like your extended family.

This place is absolutely awful. I had a routine urine test which they said would take one day. Dr…read more Khan said he would call with the results as soon as he got them. Weeks went by and nothing. I called many times leaving a message; no response. Finally, 6 weeks later I get a call from the doctor saying that I submitted insufficient quantity for the test. I felt so enraged. I chose this place to avoid the chaotic GW MFA, but that was a mistake. Also, Dr. Khan spoke to me like he had no clue about anything. Almost like I was the doctor and he the patient.

My Dad moved to Arden Courts about 6 weeks ago and I am really very happy with the care he is…read morereceiving. The staff is very kind and patient. The activities are wonderful and there seems to be something fun going on all the time. The CNAs and nurses are fabulous! Dad has improved greatly with all the care and stimulation. It has given us great peace of mind to know that he is getting excellent care.

dr. katz is a cardiologist at GW. He is one of the best physicians I have ever been to in my life…read more His bedside manner is incredible, and with 43 years of experience his knowledge and competence is beyond reproach. His office went to bat for me and got a prescription approved despite lots of pushback from my insurance company. He is simply the best in the business.
