We like this place…read more We've been clients for almost two decades, starting with our first-born, J, a shiba inu. We now come with our lab / German shepherd mix, A, who is something of a social butterfly. J was an introvert who liked socialization, but also needed his me time. He semi-enjoyed his days at Lucky Dog while we skied, but didn't love it. Our little girl, A, on the other hand, seems to really enjoy Lucky Dog and eagerly goes in, in the mornings. There is some beautiful mayhem going on. I love how much freedom visiting dogs have to interact and socialize. They have a reasonably large outdoor area for those who wish to go out. At one recent pickup, I saw that two little ones with thin fur, who seemed to prefer to be indoors, were allowed to stay in, while rambunctious, larger pups (with more winter fur) charged outside. It's great that care is personalized, that the pups can choose for themselves. By the way, pickups are fun and crazy. Give Laure and Duke a heads up that you're coming by if you have an internet / phone signal. Otherwise, you might find yourself walking into a 15 dog party where ALL of them think you're the most interesting human ever and jump all over you at the same time. I sort of love it! But you have a better chance of getting the news of the day from Duke and Laure when it's less chaotic. p.s. I'm just now reading the prior review about a lost/escaped dog. Our pups weren't / aren't big escape artists, I guess. They've always been able to free range in our private woods and unfenced yard in CT. But when he wished to do so, J was insanely smart and could open gates / doors or dig under fences. A can jump improbably high fences. (She tends to draw a rapt audience in Central Park whenever she exhibits this skill.) Either Lucky Dog's enclosures are now (circa 2024) effective or our pups chose / choose to be there. Either way, it works for us.

We were denied for a puppy after applying and meeting requirements, and the puppy never made it to…read morethe event as it was still in Louissiana. This is less than ideal, especially for families with children. They try to adopt dogs/puppies to families that meet the ideal conditions. That said, most people and dogs don't meet that criteria and need some wiggle room. So if a dog, or even a 2 month puppy, has a behavioural issue, they try to find a situational adopter around that issue. This is problematic IMO as the actual issue doesn't get addressed, and there is a high chance that the issue can and will come up later, leaving the adopter and dog/puppy in a "bad" situation. This doesn't set anyone up for success, the puppy/dog or potential future owner. This is an organisational and/or resource issue. My advice, if you want to adopt from this org, is to apply as a single person with no pets.

I have adopted 2 dogs from this group over the years. They are thorough and careful about their…read moreadoptions...a well thought out process including a detailed questionnaire, contact with your vet if you have or have had other pets, and a meet and greet (for our 1st dog but not the 2nd-Covid) with our dog already at home. Our dog came along on our visit/pickup and they couldn't have gotten along any better. Everyone went their way satisfied that Bertie was going to have a fabulous life and she has and the two dogs are still best buddies. our second dog was a pick up at a rest stop due to Covid. They had me on file so they already knew us so to speak. Max is a loving dog and loves his people. He loves his cat and dog family members as well. The other thing that I should mention is that both dogs came to us healthy and well socialized. I don't believe either experience could have gone any better.

I Just moved to the area, saw a female Vet during the summer who was rude and condescending towards me about my cat, clearly discriminating against me for being queer, and for bringing him to in, he's 12, has feline HIV, so when something goes on I don't hesitate to have him seen. I wrote a review about it at the time and didn't think much of it. As someone who works in healthcare, as a nurse taking care of humans, generally speaking we aren't allowed to be rude to people when they seek medical care. Afterwards, I didn't establish care anywhere else for him and woke up today with green discharge coming from his eye, made an appointment because I don't know where else to go. I got a very strange return call from a Vet tech who told me in a very cryptic and round about way, that the Doctors don't want me to come to the clinic and for me to find a new a Vet. So I guess now we aren't allowed to stand up for ourselves and call people out for poor behavior and discrimination? Shouldn't have even thought about coming back to this place to begin with but you all can do better. My husband and I lost our kitten very, very tragically (he was shot by a neighbor). When my husband dropped out kitten off, he said that Mike was very personable, empathetic, and kind. When the time came to retrieve his ashes we went and were greeted by Mike right away.
