Throughout his life, we always appreciated Dr. English's thoughtful, compassionate approach. He never recommended treatments unnecessarily and always took the time to explain our options, making every decision feel informed and centered on what was best for Riley. When it came time to say goodbye to our very loved little guy, Dr. English made sure he was there to help Riley pass peacefully. That kindness is something we'll never forget. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things a family can go through, but knowing Riley was cared for by people who genuinely loved him brought us immense comfort. River Cove, and Dr English, thank you for giving us nearly two decades with our sweet boy. We will always be grateful.

Very sweet and loving. he just gets excited greeting people but calms within the first minute. The vet knew us for two years since we brought him as a puppy, and always acted surprised and annoyed by his energy upon welcoming. Making comments like "woah woah" and then heard them talk to a vet tech behind the door while we were in the room, and said "better be ready, if you're not woken up yet, he'll sure wake you up! Very crazy!" And that just upset me. We are going to a new vet now, and the vet is very accommodating to my dogs needs, welcoming him and being friendly while he warms up. Does not make me feel like a burden. Rivercove did the opposite every time. I was very disappointed.

We called the Barre Animal Hospital while in the ADK's and they were able to see us the following week when we were staying near Barre. Everyone at the clinic was wonderful and we had a nice long conversation with Dr. Chihocki while he did full physicals, gave them their rabies shots and microchips. We were even able to get a refill of medication for one pup who was still dealing with a skin irritation. You could tell everyone there loves animals and showed ours a lot of attention. We highly recommend Barre Animal Hospital. They made things VERY easy and we were out in just under one hour. Brad and Martha Boyer, Camillus, NY

Rating: 2/5 Stars Review: I have been bringing my 5-year-old Newfoundland here for almost two years…read morefor chronic skin issues. While the staff is generally nice, the treatment protocols have been frustratingly repetitive and expensive with little long-term success. Through this time, they have made no follow up calls to even check in to see how he is doing; not one!! For years, we were given the same medication for the same duration, which only acted as a band-aid. We finally received a proper diagnostic (skin scrape) in late 2025 which revealed a Staph infection. After spending over $600, the infection returned worse than before just a week after treatment ended. When I suggested today that he needed a longer course of medication, they ignored my input and prescribed the same duration that failed previously. Mind you, todays visit was a month from the skin scrape "tech" appointment, which again was with meds, $600. I was told because it was a "tech" appointment and not a "real" visit I would need to book another $100 visit just to get medication again. so, within a month we have spent nearly $1000 just to end up back to where we were. I will say some of this is my fault as well, I should have seen the writing on the wall months ago that all they really want is to be in your pocket. If you are thinking about going there, don't. if you're there currently, maybe it's time to looks elsewhere. Additionally, during this most recent visit, they performed a lab test without asking me or quoting the price first--I was surprised by the charge at the counter. Transparency is important, and I feel like I am being stuck in a loop of ineffective treatments and surprise bills.

I said, "well she's on a plane and I had to drive by on my way home so thought I'd check. I can come back tomorrow if you don't have it." And she said glumly, "yeah why don't you come back tomorrow" (still lookin at the computer.) "I'm reading the doctor's notes." I said, "well it's a 40 min drive AO if you have the medicine here I will wait." She paused, as though I'd asked her to cut my hair and finally said, "ok well I have to get it together." So I'm waiting here now. She just came out with it -- it took her the 5 min it took me to type this on my phone. Not impressed with the cold attitude and service.
