I had a family member that was recently in an accident and was sent by ambulance to Bethesda North Hospital. Nobody ever wants to go to the hospital, but it's a good feeling to know that if you have to, there are people there you can trust and can make you feel at ease. I took off one star because of the state of the emergency room. None of the staff had a sense of urgency in the movement or in the way they did their work. I have seen a better sense of urgency from workers in restaurants, and I say that in all seriousness. I really didn't appreciate that. They were nice enough, but they just seemed very lackluster, and that covers everyone from the waiting room to the staff tending to my family member in the treatment room. Very disappointing. The rest of my family members stay was on the sixth floor and I cannot say enough good things about the nurses and attendants! They are truly professionals who did everything they could to foster a sense of peace, assurance, and healing. Some of the best medical professionals in the city are located on the sixth floor at B North. I appreciate everything they did! read more

Great team at Bethesda North Hospital. My second surgery there in just over a year. From the time you arrive until you leave the staff is friendly, courteous and there for you. Thursday afternoon I arrived for my surgery was checked in promptly, walked back to the pre-op area where my nurse Nancy took care of my every need. She provided me warm blankets, made me feel comfortable as possible for the surgery. The IV went in seamlessly - I couldn't feel it & now four days later don't have a bruise which is rare. Thomas Maynard my surgeon stopped by twice prior to the surgery to see if I needed anything, answered my questions, told me everything was going to be alright and I would be back in good shape in no time. The anesthesioligist took care of me ordered up the right cocktail for me being aware of my allergies and his assistant took care of me in the operating room. After the surgery I had a recovery nurse assigned to me who was also there by my side making me as comfortable as possible giving me ice packs, ice chips, crackers & ginger ale, I spent about two hours in recovery before going home. The staff followed up with me the next day via phone checking to see if I was okay and said don't hesitate to call if I had any further questions. Thanks Bethesda North! read more

Unless you have procedures or treatment here, a hospital is difficult to evaluate. I was visiting a friend. The wonderful volunteers gave me instructions to get me where I was going. Keep watching those signs. Don't get off track. The friendly volunteer is not likely to be at the end of the dark hallway when you make a wrong turn. If you eventually get to your destination, it is wonderful to spend time with loved ones. read more

Bethesda OR staff is fabulous! From the moment I arrived to get testing until they wheeled me out the staff was curteous, professional, and friendly. They never made me feel like I was a bother, they continuously brought warm blankets, ice water after the surgery so that I remained hydrated, asked about my pain rating so that I was comfortable, kept me informed about timelines and testing results. Anesthesia, doctors and Chief RN all came to introduce themselves and inquire as to my comfort level and pain level, and respond to any questions I might have. Doctor took me into surgery early! When I awoke from anesthesia there was a nurse by my side to comfort me and explain my symptoms, what I was feeling and help me feel more comfortable with warm blankets, gentle movement, and pain medications. They called me the next day to ask how I was feeling, explain that symptoms were normal, that I could call them back should I have any questions, what symptoms I should call the doctor for immediately. I have hospital within 5 minutes of my home but I will make the 20 minute drive to Bethesda should I need to make an ER visit too! read more

Great staff in their ER! Our daughter's tooth went through her lip after a fall on the playground. When we arrived at the ER, we were taken back for treatment right away. The nurses were very attentitive to her needs. And the entire visit was maybe 30 minutes long!!! To top it off, the nurse gave her a stuffed animal to keep. That stuffed dog made my daughter's day. The doctors and nurses made us feel welcome and comfortable at a very stressful time. :) read more

Terrible. Every single time. Xrays and procedures go perfect. ER visits? Take the extra time to go somewhere else. They sent be home with half of my discharge papers and half of some other patients. So im guessing someone has my medical info. Also they said I needed a driver since they gave me pain meds through my iv. Ummm no one gave me anything for my pain. Maybe the other patient got it? I signed a permission slip for my ct scan AFTER I already had it. I called to complain and a patient rep was supposed to call me. Nope. Went back recently, the ER doctor was so loud that I knew all of the patients business and medical problems. Even when he was reporting transciption, I could hear everything. read more
