Add an extra star - or two for Golf enthusiasts. Wow is this a big park with lots of acreage. Tx to the many of individuals, Staff and sponsors who serve there and Volunteers for this 2025 international monumental event. They each get 5 stars. Police, Military, Army Golden Parachute Jumpers , Troopers , Security, First Aid including a Mother's station and the great transportation people, (tx Suzanne) restaurants and kind people making things work. Maps both physical and QRs. Beautiful well kept grass and a crew keeping the place clean. Bravo to Citi Bank for their golf activities- Put Put and Vertual - phone Charger stations, a real Bar, places to sit and AC and photo shot spot. Thumbs up to the hard working volunteers at Delaware Patillon Restaurant C-9 , so many diligently work behind the scenes and runners to put lunch foods and drinks out for the many visitor's coming to this event.( see pix) read more

Very nice park out on Lawn Guyland. Easy to get to off the LIE. Plenty of parking with bathrooms located right next to get parking lot. I've only been here once, a few weeks ago, to run in a socially distanced Turkey Trot 5K. It was more of a trail run which offered some nice views and terrain to run on. Plenty of paths to run or bicycle on. Trail running seems to be big here with many routes through the wooded areas. Can't say much more since I left after I got my finisher medal and went home. It was Thanksgiving and I had to get ready to feast! read more

I ride through frequently using the bike path that goes through the Massapequa Preserve, through Bethpage, and now extended all the way past the LIE through Trailview State Park. Great exercise, scenic ride on a perfect Autumn day. Some hills, mostly flat. A safe ride through the park with conveniently located restrooms at the Bethpage parking lot PS - Watch out for speeding E-Bikes. And what's up with that anyway, Riding through the park at 25MPH under power on an e-bike and not getting exercise? I must be missing something. read more

When it comes to parks in New York that have everything, this one immediately comes to mind. They have polo, golf, basketball, volleyball, nature everywhere, hiking trails, biking trails, you name it! My dad and I came here to kickoff the summer. He took a break off from biking for health reasons but now that he's feeling more himself, we headed to the bike trails and it was just like old times. We went at our own pace but next time we come back we're definitely going to time ourselves and even try to battle some of the local competition (they're are some pretty good riders here!). I didn't have my fit-bit on but I feel like did about 15/20 miles worth. Pack yourselves a lunch, bring some snacks, and enjoy a gorgeous park with friends or family! read more

This park is great for biking and hiking. The playground was closed due to Covi-19 at the time we went, but it did not stop us from going there. Lots of signs about "social distancing" around. The parking lot was not closed to full at all. The bike trail was about 11 miles long on a paved road for the most part. Lots of trees on the two sides of the bike trail, so it was very comfortable there even biking on a 80 degree sunny day. The bike trail included uphill and downhill at some points, made it a little bit more challenging. Several nice views / scenic views along the trail. Not a bad choice to spend a day here biking a hiking. read more

After watching a polo match, we decided to look at this park as we thought that maybe helpful for a future visit. Next to the polo field is the picnic park. This park has huge picnic grounds, playground, basketball court , volleyball court , soccer field and ring toss area. There is a big sign leading to walking trails and biking trails options. I heard that this is where this park is known for ( aside from its famous polo field and golf courses). Golf course entrance is about 3 minutes drive going south, actually, that was where we went first thinking that is where the entrance to the polo field was located. Definitely coming back to try their trails. I may suggest also to be in the community summer picnic place list next summertime. read more

Really nice park with both bikes trails and walking trails. There are several different trails here, nothing crazy, mostly flat but still worth checking out. Plenty of wildlife. At one point in history I was a pretty great golfer. Shooting in the low 80s was no big thing, and I even signed an autograph when I was 12 years old from a group of senior citizens that swore I was going to become a pro sometime in the future. But those days are long gone and I've become a serious weekend duffer due to my lack of time to practice... and the green course here at Beth Page is a God send. Unless you're really, really bad - it's quite difficult to lose a ball in the woods here. It's pretty wide open and quite forgiving for those with a chronic hook or slice. But if your game is tight, it's one of the easier courses to impress your friends as a round of bogey golf is very much attainable. I went on a Sunday and our foursome owned the entire 18. Very few waits, no other groups breathing down our necks, and just an immaculate afternoon on the Island. There aren't many more weeks to enjoy the links, so get your tee times while you can! read more

The bike path itself is absolutely gorgeous. The asphalt is well maintained and the lush scenery that wraps around you as you glide down the pathway (or struggle to push your big ass up the hill while you breathe heavily [me]) is a beautiful sight. There are pleasant surprises to enjoy as you make your way down the 8 mile path (one way) such as ponds, cute little bridges, and bunnies along the way. 5 stars for the path and beautiful scenery. 1 star off for the fact that it's so beautiful that everyone and their mothers (literally) go on this path which makes it dangerous and quite annoying for cyclists. Another star off because I didn't like that the path had multiple street crossings which can interrupt my bike flow (ya feel me?) and can also be dangerous. Definitely a great trail for beginners like me but too many people for me to truly enjoy it. read more

Usually, any course at Bethpage would automatically get 4-5 stars, but, surprisingly, Green was kind of a mess yesterday. The round took over 5 hours, which, for Bethpage, is bad. Yes, it's a muni course, but a top flight one where better players keep the pace of play up. Also, the third hole was closed for repairs, and most of the greens were a mess with ball marks and water damage. People, repair your ball marks please! We played later in the day, which could account for some ball marks not being repaired, but not all. I'm not anywhere near a scratch golfer, but am not a bad player and know the rules. Pace of play and repairing ball marks on the greens are two easy ones. Hopefully, next time out there, I'll play Yellow or Red and the greens, as they are most of the time, will be immaculate. read more

I've grown up around Bethpage State Park my whole life. It's one of the best parks for walking, hiking, bike riding, picnics, family bbq's. It links up to the greenbelt trails and has a large number of paths to take both on foot and on bike. They recently redid a large part of the paved path after hurricane Sandy, it looks really nice. The park itself is huge, you can walk the paved path or the smaller trails, which are for hiking, but watch out for the occasional bikers who like to ride their mountain bikes on the walking paths and tear it up. There are many paths that go very far into the park and take you to areas where mountain bikers can ride down huge canyon like dips. At one point someone had put a swing tied to a tree and we used to tarzan swing across these canyon like areas hehe. As I mentioned, some of the trails link up to the greenbelt in both directions, north and south. It's a great starting point if you want to go for a bike ride in either direction but definitely plan your journey ahead. There is also the picnic and field part of Bethpage park which is the main area by the parking lot. You can use that to have a family bbq, play soccer, just hang out, etc. I like to walk around the park on the main path for a nice breath of fresh air. I like Bethpage because it's big and you have peace and quite but it also feels safe and you know there are people around nearby. read more

There's more to Bethpage than just the famous Bethpage Black golf course. At the risk of sounding like a cheesy 'I love NY' commercial bring the family, make of day of it, there's something for everyone! I wont review the golf courses as 1) I'm not a golfer & 2) They've got their own listing. But the rest of the park has lots to offer. The park can be reached by car or the LIRR + about a mile walk/bike. There are polo grounds (although I've never heard of them being used for that), picnic grounds with BBQ pits, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, children's playground, and miles of paved and off road trails for walking, running, and biking. The dirt trails are varied with a couple jeep roads sort of looping around the perimeter of the park and a bunch of squirrely single track branching off them. If you're new to mountain biking or not great with keeping your bearings the jeep trails are a great introduction. None of the single track is very difficult but there are a couple man made features scattered around that can challenge advanced riders. Caution, the back (north) side is very overgrown tight twisty single track and you can easily go head on with another rider. Also, whether hiking or biking beware the poison ivy, there is alot of it. Admission is free on foot/bike or $7/car including parking but the best deal is the Empire Pass. $65 get you unlimited access to 178+ NYS parks for the year. Forgot your lunch? Head down the road to Broadway to Three Brothers Pizza for some of the best pizza in NY. (Try the alla Vodka) read more

This review is for the golf course. I came here with my landlord Orlando for The Barclay's What an experience getting to see Tiger and Rory and Phil How lucky are we here at the black course. They have food stands at almost every whole. they also have a full bar and restaurant as well. There are a lot of tress but still bring sun tan lotion. I attended a recent Bethpage Polo event at the Bethpage State Park polo grounds. These matches occur on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer. I was pleasantly surprised to see the grounds in such beautiful shape. It really is a different experience to come and watch the match and sip on a cold brew. Its a great mix of various ages that attend which makes it even better. We were fortunate enough to purchase tickets for the VIP tent sponsored by Ferrari/Masserati of L.I. FYI tickets can be found on the bethpage polo website. Look for the VIP section offer on eventbee! I truely enjoyed the company of the "regulars" and even the newer spectators unfamiliar to the Sunday event. Sundays at the Polo field is a new theme of elite social networking, all inclusive appetizers and cocktails for a great price ($45). The event coordinator, Robert- and his staff really put on a nice event and I plan to be back within the next few weeks. So for those of you new to the game of POLO, don't hesitate to come out and show support..... its a social gathering that ranks amongst the best on Long Island! read more

Great way to spend a sunny and breezy afternoon. Beautiful park, lots of seating and places to bring a blanket. We brought our own food and wine and sat in the stadium seats that have backs on them. The field was so big it was hard to see sometimes, but that was the only downside (they said it fits 9 football fields). They also sell food and drinks, but as we brought our own, I didn't check the prices. During halftime go and stomp the divets or see the horses and jockeys. I love this park. Great for picnics and hiking. We often come here to BBQ, they have the BBQ, just bring one of those aluminum covers for the rack, because they're pretty gross. The trails are great too, but it's easy to get lost, so bring your phone for a GPS or make sure you know how to get back. Once my friend and I got lost on the trails and couldn't find our way back, and we somehow ended up on route 135. We hiked around the park and back in, but by the time we got there, the park was closed, and my car was locked inside! We had to walk home and come back the next morning for the car, and there was a ticket waiting for me on the windshield. I'll post some pictures I took of the park. read more

We took a fun hike. Nice for bikes, dogs and children. There are Intimate areas so the walking trail is very nice.

Pros: 1) Blacktop is well-maintained. 2) At trail-heads parking is free (Yasssss, I can has fun AND save moolah!). 3) Nice hills for up-hill training and down-hill speed/breeze. 4) Cute wildlife (butterflies, ducks, geese, rabbits). Cons: 1) More people than the Southern State. 2) No restrooms. 3) Too many places where you need to interact with motorists (Who sometimes don't yield to pedestrians like they're supposed to). 4) No mountain bike trails (The ones that run parallel to the blacktop are for hikers only, I checked). Would I go again? Sure, but only during the weekdays when there are less humans. read more

AWESOME place to go for a bike ride. Had a little bit of trouble finding where to park, but asked the guy at the golf course and he was super hellpful. You can go two different routes, and we went towards the arboretum which was beautiful. Very safe place to bike ride (minus the major highway crossings, be careful). The other way was cooler, and we are going to next time, it was labeled by mileage which is great if you're training. read more

Bethpage is home to bike trails, lots of picnic/bbq space,huge parking lot, a baseball field, and newly added basketball, volleyball areas. All that's missing is a lake or a pool, overnight camping, and some deer. Fortunately more parkland wasn't destroyed in the name of incredibly limited and boring golf. Plus a new paved path (for biking, walking, rollerskating, running.. you name it) is under construction. I've parked by the library to avoid the fee sometimes. Some people park on the side or entrance but I'm not sure of the legality of that and wouldn't want to risk a ticket. read more

I just attempted to play 18 on the Blue. It took 3 hours and 10 minutes to play 9 holes. Rangers would be helpful...but I have a feeling it was overbooking. Strange thing is that there weren't that many groups on the board....very strange. I will never, ever play golf here again. Sure, the Black is amazing, and that's a different story. But they either overbook the other courses or some other shenanigans are going on. Shame for a public course...where the employees are paid by the taxpayers. read more
