The only thing I would recommend about this center is that you DO NOT take your kids here. We had our three children enrolled for almost 6 months before pulling them out. I kept waiting for things to get better, for the front office (Beth) to get their act together, but it didn't happen. Communication was exceptionally poor. Twice my daughter didn't get medication she was taking even though I filled out the correct forms and handed them to the front office AND told her teacher.
The building had a constant heating problem this winter where the back two classrooms were so very cold that the staff and many kids wore their coats most of the day. My kids hands and noses were so cold when I'd come to pick them up.
The pre-school teacher quit and walked out however parents weren't notified that their child's primary caregiver was gone. 10 days after the teacher walked out, I finally asked what happened to her. It was only then Beth sent out an email. A few months later when a replacement was found, it took a MONTH for parents to get an email about who this new teacher was caring for our kids.
I had two kids in the Pre-K room and they honestly learned NOTHING the entire time they were there. One of my children has fine motor skill delays. She came home crying two different times that she asked her teacher to help her cut with scissors and the teacher said, "no, it's not my job to cut, it's yours," and would not help her. After we put our required notice in, they moved that pre-k teacher to the baby room and hired a new pre-k teacher. I will say the new teacher seems AMAZING, but we already had enough negative things happen at the center.
They had new students start in the pre-school room and didn't have enough cots for everyone to nap on. Instead of buying more, they simply took the cots ... and nap/rest time ... away from the 4- and 5-year olds. Instead of notifiying parents that nap/rest time was suddenly gone because of the cot shortage, it was just brushed under the rug. I only found out when I asked my kids why they were so exhausted at the end of the day. Also, they replaced the nap time with Disney moving viewing. Not sure how that's educational.
Two of my kids were walking around BAREFOOT for 1/2 the day during the winter because the staff couldn't find their snow boots after the first recess. They had my kids wear their shoes out in the snow during the second recess and the shoes and socks became soaking wet. The staff didn't bother pulling the extra socks that were in the backpack out for them, just let them go barefoot. And guess what ... their boots were under their cubby, labeled with their names on them. The very next day, my daughter's shoes went missing again after recess so she went w/o shoes the entire day. I found my child's shoes on a 2-year old in a different classroom, clearly too big for the 2-year old.
The center was supposed to provide milk to the kids at lunch. It very, very rarely happened. I brought it up 6 different times, and it never got sorted out. The center also says they provide "snacks" but they were usually saltine crackers or something like gold fish crackers. No protein or fruit to go with it. I had to supplement my kids' lunches with additional items and also provide a more appropriate PM snack. The lunch menu sent out (late) every month was usually wrong. Not a good thing if you have kids allergic or sensitive to some of the foods they serve. And FYI, when it says sandwiches, it's Bologna, not something more healthy like turkey. And hot dogs are served too frequently.
The teachers do seem to be trying really hard, but in my opinion, they are not getting the support they need from the office. read more
