Being new to the childcare scene this was a horrible experience. I set up a tour a week in advance,…read moretoday I get there and was just buzzed in no one asked me who I was or why I was there, so as I'm standing by the front office door a child finally asked me why I was there, I said for a tour. Someone came and got me and had me fill out a paper then said oh sorry we are only accepting full time kids?! It was a waste of my time and the lady didn't even give me information for other Child-times that could maybe help our family. Never again will I use a child time.

The worst childcare I've ever had to leave my 2 year old. In spite of having an access to camera…read morethe teacher was harsh to the kids. I had my first suspicion when my son came home dull and was not happy to go back to the school. He kept on saying there's a monster. This is when I checked the camera the next day to see what's really happening. I saw the teacher pulling my son's hand and made him stand somewhere. According to the school staff they are against timeouts but the teacher did it anyway. She also almost dragged my son to his cot at nap time. I also saw her shaking a girl and looked like scolding her. The teacher was mostly interested in the iPad they have and click only happy photos. This is a childcare and they do exactly the opposite. I would really urge the parents to keep looking at the camera when you can and maybe ask your child about the teachers. I am a stay-at-home mom and therefore had the time to look what's happening in the class. I complained to the school and they apologized and refunded the money that was paid. I should have pushed for more action but was totally traumatized and didn't want to run behind it anymore. I would never send my child here and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had to give the one star since yelp wouldn't let me post the review without a star rating!

What can I say, I love Utica community schools! My twins attend the pre-school program at Duncan on…read more26 Mile Rd. 3 days a week, for 3 hours a day and I could be happier with the program. This is not our home school, as our home school doesn't offer a pre-K program but it's just another great school in the Utica district. Their teacher are friendly, patient and have been teaching at Utica for a number of years. Mrs. Pizzamenti and Mrs. Hirschmann and wonderful teachers, I'll be sad to say good bye to them come the end of the school year. I'll be honest, we were late registering our twins last fall, as all the classes will officially filled by the time I sent in the registration paper work. I made a few phone calls and they were very understanding. I was able to pick the time and days I wanted, and keep my twins in the same class together, which was obviously a big deal. I couldn't imagine having them separated their first year of school. To be honest, until they are older, I'll probably request that they be in the same class together. The schools all have a great security system where you have to buzz to get in, and show your ID to the camera. Once in the building you have to stop at the office to sign in. Upon leaving to must also stop at the office to sign out. It can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but I know it's for the protection of all our children so it's completely acceptable. The school is clean and well kept, bathrooms included. I My son not only attends pre-K at Duncan but he also takes speech classes 2 days a week with the speech therapist Mrs. May. Mrs. May is a very knowledgeable speech therapist with 17 years under her belt in the Utica district. She is patient, kind and thorough with her one-on-one work, as much as she is with group work. I highly recommend her if you're looking for a speech therapist counselor. My son has made so much progress in such a short amount of time! I can also vouch for the school lunches provided within the Utica district, they are a good value for your money with fresh and plentiful options. One day I had forgotten to bring a light lunch for the twins, which they eat before my son goes to speech. So we walked down to the lunch room and I purchased a hot lunch for them to split. It just so happened to be "Minion Day" which consisted of popcorn chicken, dipping sauce of choice, a bag of minion cookies, a side salad with a separate cup of fresh cut mixed veggies and ranch, a fresh fruit cup, choice of 3 milks, a banana and a bag of dried edamame. It was a really big lunch for only $2.75. We currently have our 5 kids enrolled in 3 different schools within the Utica district (2 at Beck Centennial elementary, 1 at Shelby Junior High, and 2 at Duncan) and I can honestly say that we love Utica and we wouldn't want our kids at any other district. I feel confident that they are, and will continue to receive the best education possible. I hold the teachers with the upmost respect. They put a LOT of time and effort into all of our kids. They deserve a ton of praise! As a parent, who's experience reaches across 3 different schools within the district I highly recommend the Utica Community schools!

All the staffs are so loving and caring special mention to Ms. Smita,Ms. Waafa,Ms.Aari,Ms.Thomas, Ms.Nancy,Ms.Chris,Ms.Reni,Ms. Allyson. We had to relocate to sandiego 2 days ago but my kid keeps saying about her classroom friends and teachers 24×7 and says wants to go back to MCA after she comes from school she would enact and play her classroom scenarios with her soft toys as her friends, herself and me as Ms.Smita and Ms.Waafa. She loves her classmates and Ms.Smita and Ms.Waafa as they do so. Even I am so addicted to talk and play with my kid about her classroom. The best thing happened in her life is being a MCA student, I wish I had known about this place earlier and enrolled her from toddler program itself as they're in practice for more than 15yrs. We had to relocate otherwise she would be still going to Ms.Smita's classroom at MCA. My kid loves the place and the gift letters given to her from her friends and school. Ms.Smita has so much positivity and ever smiling face which influences the kids that even I take her as an example on this is how I need to be with my kid. Their education methodology is the best around Detroit as my kid was attending couple of daycares around until she was 3, I can compare her learning and behavioral development after going to MCA. Most importantly teaching is based on montessori methodology through activities taught to kids with love and care. She's eating even rice by herself now thanks to Ms. Smita,Ms. Waafa and Ms. Nancy. Thanks to Ms. Aari for teaching spanish and engaging the kids with the exercise song and dance moves. My kid perfectly teaches us that since beginning. She recently started full-time just for 3 weeks before our move and enjoyed time with Ms. Chris arts and crafts classes. Overall MCA is the best thing happened to my kid and us in Detroit and Ms.Smita's classroom is the only thing we miss now. Lots of love to you MCA, Ms. Smita,Ms. Waafa and all the classroom friends(its a big list to write their names) from Sahana, I am hopeful that she will always remember all of you as this is her 1st school experience. Thanks to Ms. Thomas and MCA office for giving Sahana an opportunity(enrollment) to be a MCA student.
