A cute tiki bar on the river with live music, fire pit and margarita slushies sounded like the perfect place to be. We sat down at the bar and weren't greeted for at least 15 minutes. There were probably 10-13 other patrons around so we gave some grace even though we prefer a "Hey I'll be with you shortly" or whatever else. One lady came over to us looking grumpy and said (referring to the other woman behind the bar) "she isn't a bartender so if you think she's ignoring you, she's not). We said okay thanks, no worries. another 10 minutes goes by while we watch the "non-bartender" pour quite a few beers for people who arrived after us. Very confusing and a bit upsetting that we had now been sitting for almost half an hour without even getting our drinks placed. As soon as we agreed to leave, the grumpy woman asked for our orders with a scowl on her face. During our order, the non-bartender asked her a question about a beer being on draft vs the bottle. The lady answered her, rolled her eyes and said "what else" to us with attitude. We were so uncomfortable and felt lied to. My excitement about this place quickly went down. I would rate one star, but the place could be so great with better employees/better system. Google reviews showed multiple reviews about the same grumpy woman. Unless she is the owner, maybe it's time to find someone else...

The location was convenient, parking was somewhat tight near their main building, the outside of the buildings were nicely decorated, inside was average, their process of paying & getting equipped to tube (or canoe) and to get to the tubing put in location, etc., was confusing and complicated for people like us who have never tubed before, involved interacting with several different Riverside employees in several different locations inside their main building and outside their main building, was reasonably priced (IMHO), offered no real solution to the big problem of knowing what to do with your vehicle fob "keys" while you tube so that they don't get wet and deactivate the car fob rending it unable to open your car, etc., in the parking lot where you park near the Platte river upon completing your tubing venture (they sold us a little thick box that supposedly closes in an airtight way not allowing water to get in while it's in your pocket as you tube for $12...but it didn't work, water got in and our fob was all wet as we opened it after getting out of the river at the end!!! Riverside said they were "sorry", and refunded our $12 for the box), and the employees were nice, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Upon arrival, we discovered a lady bug/beetle infestation. The dishes in the kitchen cabinets were dirty and also had beetles on them. The kitchen is also not a full kitchen as advertised. of the two bedrooms, one of them does not have heat, and the other one has a hidden baseboard heater which you are not made aware of. This resulted in us sleeping without heat before the first night. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy. Only 2 of us (out of 6 people) showered the entire weekend as the showers were very unclean. We had dog hair in the sheets of our bed. We realize mistakes can happen with cleaners so tried to work with the property owner, Jeff in hopes of working something out and issuing a partial refund for everything we encountered last weekend. He was very unprofessional and left us no choice but to contact AirBNB for help. After seeing our photos and videos, they agreed that we deserved a partial refund. I just wanted to help inform others to avoid renting from Crystal Adventures at all costs! It was a very unfortunate situation for our family.

The river was just beautiful and less busy than others in the area. In hindsight I wish we had each gotten our own kayaks instead of doubling up in canoes as the river is tricky to navigate in the larger sized vessel at times. I'll definitely come back to Crystal Adventures.

We loved the campground. It had direct access to the Betsie River, showers and bathrooms were very well.maintaimed a clean...hot water was never a problem. There's Frisbee golf and horseshoes available..firewood was a generous amount for the money. There's 400 acres of state land to the north directly abutting the property. Mostly trailer and tent camping ( we had hammocks and were allowed to choose the spot we liked with the best trees for setup). They do have a canoe and kayak livery that currently only operates on weekends. I rarely gush over a business that doesn't bring me hot delicious food and cocktails...this is an exception to the rule. Hands down one of the best camping experiences. I have been disperse camping the last few years in order to avoid people and some of the issues that come with group camping ( loud drunk ppl...fascist property managers etc) this was about as good as family camping will ever get and the location is incredible. The livery had all the essentials for your trip; water shoes, sandwiches, cold drinks, ice, souvenirs, and so much more! They were stocked with whatever you needed. The team unloaded our kayaks & brought them down to the river with us, along with our paddles & life floats. For the record, they have plenty life jackets for whoever needs them. Any child under the age of 6 is required to wear one. The river flows gently & most of the trip is shallow enough to touch, I never felt in danger without a life vest. My favorite parts of the river were paddling through Loon Lake, the crystal clear water, and the end of the trip where the Platte meets Lake Michigan. The dunes were breathtaking & the kids absolutely loved it! We will definitely be back. Honor Trading Post was my livery of choice!

The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. My son had only been kayaking one other time, and he loved being in his own kayak. The river was slow and calm, perfect for a child to learn how to kayak. Parts of the river did get quite busy (we went on a beautiful Saturday) - there was one area where we navigated around a group of about 50-60 "innertubers." We packed up a couple of sandwiches and purchased some drinks and a cooler at the Trading Post before parking our car at the end of the river (at Lake Michigan.) I loved how at the end of the trip, we could hop right out of the river and into our car. One of the staff members drove us back to the drop-in spot (they had already prepared our kayaks for us to hop right in!) Note: there is an extra $25 fee involved to park your car in the lot at the end of the river. Would highly recommend booking with The Trading Post for anyone looking to check out the Platte River! We were staying in Glen Arbor, and it was only a 30-minute drive away.
