We arrived at 3pm after filling out the online waivers, and got equipped with helmets, goggles, and an awesome vehicle with "No Doors" for the kiddos excitement. The GPS made our self-guided experience fun and easy, and the trails were a blast! As a first timer, I found driving the vehicle easy, even on the bumpiest of terrain. Just make sure you turn around at the halfway point of your rental so you have time to make it back! We pulled in a little late because we thought the GPS route was a loop. It is NOT. :) The girls in the shop are awesome, they offered the boys a chance to meet their new puppies, too.

To my surprise the owners texted to check on our progress. Not once did they ever have anything but a positive attitudes. We made it in and got settled very late. The time difference had us off slightly. The whole cabin was well furnished and extremely clean. It was very roomy and came with amenities most 5 star hotels don't! I was completely shocked at the experience and have now found a new place for my family to go whenever we feel a need to "get away", which is often! Upon our departure, the owner was even nicer than when we first met! I am so pleased with this place I will recommend you trying it out for yourself. Rented a side by side or UTV(whatever you like to call it) this weekend at Island Adventure. We…read moretook the ferry over to Washington Island to check out all things on the island. We figured, let's do it in style! It was just us 2. We had a blast. No off roading of course and it only goes to 30 mph but what a cool way to check out Washington Island. We ended up with a four seater. We arrived early to our 11 AM reservation and they were kind enough to have us out 15 min early for our 2 hour rental! Sweet! They provided a map for a suggested route and we decided to follow it for the most part. All the roads are so rustic during October so you really can't go wrong and if you get lost, good thing is the island is only 36 square miles in diameter! You won't be lost for long. The customer service was friendly, informative and gave out great recommendations. They were prompt and our ride was clean/well maintained! I would use them again for sure if I come back to the island. Once you get off ferry, it straight ahead on the left- very easy to find. You could even walk there from the ferry if you aren't bringing your own vehicle on the island. They have a phone number to call and reserve your choice of "adventure" or they have a website.

Sometimes the best way to know how good an outfit is is seen when things go wrong. A storm caused a power outage at the house we rented when we returned dirty and muddy with the side by sides. Dan and his wife invited us to their own home to shower and clean up until the power was restored! How many folks take care of their customers like that?!! Highly recommended. I found once there that all of the places that claimed to rent out these machines on their web sites have discontinued. After spending the first day of our vacation searching, I was delighted to find Happy Trails Rental. Happy Trails has excellent service at very reasonable prices. This is especially surprising because they seem to be the only place that actually rents out side by sides within 100 miles of Cadillac MI. We had never went trail riding before, but Dan told us everything we needed to know, and we headed out for a day of fun in the Yamaha Viking with complete confidence. Dan also owns the Trails End Pub which has excellent food, and is on the same property. The park seems a lot bigger than it is and you can get lost on the trails. They are well marked and they have a lot to offer from easy to hard. Camping is nice and isn't in the mud or dirt. Amy was great to work with...with a great sense of humor and was very adroit at suggesting places to get ice; a.bite to eat etc. She was like the magical hotel concierge you luck out and get when all.of your travel plans are falling apart. We loved the campground. It had direct access to the Betsie River, showers and bathrooms were very well.maintaimed a clean...hot water was never a problem. There's Frisbee golf and horseshoes available..firewood was a generous amount for the money. There's 400 acres of state land to the north directly abutting the property. Mostly trailer and tent camping ( we had hammocks and were allowed to choose the spot we liked with the best trees for setup). They do have a canoe and kayak livery that currently only operates on weekends. I rarely gush over a business that doesn't bring me hot delicious food and cocktails...this is an exception to the rule. Hands down one of the best camping experiences. I have been disperse camping the last few years in order to avoid people and some of the issues that come with group camping ( loud drunk ppl...fascist property managers etc) this was about as good as family camping will ever get and the location is incredible. There's a very clean Mobil gas w a pizza place about 2 miles from the campground...and plenty of activities in all direction. Thank you so much for helping make our fishing trip camping headache free and amazing.
