We booked an Airbnb onsite here so we were able to walk everywhere. I was so impressed with the resort as a whole I cannot wait to come back here! For the slopes, they had so many lines for all different level of skiing. They had multiple sides to the mountain and even had a bar at the top that offered alcohol, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and even chili and hot dogs. I am at a beginner level and the green lines were still a tad more difficult, but everyone going down looks out for everyone. I was very impressed with the ski patrol as a fell quite a few times and they were there to check on me. The area itself was very clean and again, everything is easily walkable. I noticed an outdoor playground for the kiddos when it's warmer out to play on. The food options here are good. Almost everywhere was a bit crowded, but we were able to wait for our food and then take it back to the Airbnb. I was very impressed with this place on every level. Our party of six, which included two kiddos, had a fantastic skiing experience at Crystal Mountain. Here's my list of do's for a successful trip: -Do purchase your lift ticket and ski rental in advance. This was a time saver. -Do get to the mountain by mid-morning to secure close parking, maximize your ski time, and enjoy the runs before the crowds arrive (and they will). -Do consider coming on a Wednesday. A lift ticket in 2026 is only $45 versus the $105 I dropped for a Saturday. Shout-out to the ski staff for their overall hospitality and making sure folx got onto the lifts quickly and safely. It appeared to be a smooth operation. Another shout-out to the ski instructors who transformed my nieces into skilled skiers in just one lesson. Though this was my first time at Crystal Mountain, it will not be my last. read more

Crystal Mountain accommodations are overpriced. In addition, the accommodations are old and need attention. Our rental did not have any pans to cook with. The deck was falling apart. The pool had 6 umbrellas and a few tents to rent. It is 99 degrees and there is no relief from full sun. I have been here several times in the summer and the resort accommodation has really deteriorated . The grounds are beautiful. I will never come here again! read more

Crystal Mountain has something for everyone! A gorgeous ski resort filled with activities, super family friendly and just plain delightful. I came here with friends, but wasn't up for skiing. So some friends hit the slopes, while the ones who didn't ski roamed the rest of the property. Crystal Mountain offers snowshoeing (at a different building than the ski rentals, which was a tad confusing to navigate to at first), but the conditions weren't great the day we went. So instead, we walked the half mile to the art park they have and hiked through it (about 1.5-2 miles round trip). There were a lot of interesting art pieces throughout and it connects to some cross country skiing trails as well. There's a ton of different buildings throughout Crystal Mountain that house food, tons of cozy seating areas, lodging, etc. There's a little ice rink and outdoor fire pits within the village area too. The lodging (both cottages and almost hotel/apartment room style options) look super nice, but I can imagine they're super expensive as well! My friends had a blast skiing and snowboarding - it was perfect weather for these winter activities when we went, but it was definitely crazy busy, chaotic, and the chair lifts were breaking and needing to be fixed frequently from what they told us. They took a snack break in the middle of their skiing time and we met up in a white tent that had a live music performer as well. The tent smelled of propane at first, which was a tad concerning, but ultimately fine. After they were all done with skiing, we got waffles at the Waffle Station before departing. We stayed one night in the lodge. The room was amazing, with a very large picture window with electric shade and sheer. The bathroom had a separate tub and shower and was much larger than a hotel bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The indoor pool/hot tub was wonderful. read more

We rented a house for the day close to Crystal Mountain. It is a ski-resort in season and a mountain slide in the off-season. They have other activities nearby that they own such as a large outdoor swimming pool but we stuck with the downhill slide. Tickets are reasonable and you would wait for the ski lift to carry you up and you would slide down on a cart with a brake. The ride is short but it is worth the wait. I recommend this resort all season long. read more

I stayed here for 5 nights, this resort is very cute and great for families! They have lots to do, indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub to swim in, indoor spa, alpine slide, lots of restaurants, small grocery store, hiking trails, a gym, walking trails, golf course, small zip line, archery, bikes, clothing shops and more! The resort itself is very expensive, the only things included with your stay are free pool and gym access. Mostly everything else is priced very high. The pool, hiking trails, bike trails, and slide were fun. The pools (both indoor and outdoor) are designed solely for small children, the deepest section of both pools are 4ft, there is no jumping or diving allowed in the pool. I hiked on the art trail which I believe was $25 for a 1 1/2 mile hike with art pieces spread throughout (still fairly pricey on top of other feed like biking and the slide along with your room). The resort has many types of cottages to stay in (room for all sizes of gatherings) and reminded me of a small town, my room in particular was a bit outdated and dirty (cheetos on the ground and hair in the shower when I arrived). Overall, I enjoyed my stay, this resort keeps you very active with lots to do and many restaurants to check out, along with lots of cute neighboring towns with places to eat and shop (Frankfort and Glen Arbor were my favorites!). read more

One of my favorite places to ski in Michigan! It has a variety of hills that can cater to everyone in your group. There are options to go through the woods a little more which adds to the fun of the slopes in the mitten. The mountain is pretty spread out and allows for lots of extensive skiing from the front of the mountain all the way to the back. Definitely a fun place. Busy on the weekends, but doable. I'd recommend a weekday stop for lots of skiing and less lines. read more

Took the kids here to ride the alpine slide. They had a blast. The staff running they slide were super friendly and helpful ( gave tips on how to go faster) They are using an online reservation system. You will need to call if you want to go the day of. I did call and the girl who made my reservation was super friendly and answered all of my bazillion questions. -there is a height and weight requirement and I was concerned about my tall but skinny boy. They had a little Waffle Hut but it was closed. There were a few porta potties ( indoor restrooms were closed due to covid) For $20 you get as many slides as you can do in an hour. It takes about 20 to ride up the chair lift and get set up to slide down. My guys hustled and got 5 slides in, they asked to go back the next day! read more

I don't know what is up with the other more recent reviews because we had an amazing time!! We played the Mountain Ridge Course and loved it. The play was a little slow because we jumped on behind a scramble but the course is gorgeous so we just enjoyed being out there. We visited the pool and all the activities were up and running. The water was perfect. Everything was clean and the staff was super nice! We stayed in the Crystal Colony in a King suite. It was perfect! We ended up staying an extra night. The housekeeping staff was kind and brought us fresh towels and bedding. Due to COVID, they couldn't enter occupied rooms but that wasn't a big deal. He just handed us all the things we needed. The room had really nice appliances including a dishwasher and all the dishes, pots/pans, and utensils that you would need. There is even a wine opener. Everything was clean and was very obviously updated within the past year. We had breakfast at The Wild Tomato. Husband ordered a breakfast burrito that was huge and he enjoyed it! I ordered the buffet and it was delicious. So many great options- bacon, yogurt bar, oatmeal bar, eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. Again the staff was great! We ordered takeout at the Thistle Pub and Grille. The burger was good and the Thistle fries were yummy. Husband loved the wings. It's a bit pricey but the convenience made it worth it. It was literally a short walk from our place. We also picked up coffee at the Bru Bar and it was smooth and tasty! We only wished the waffle bar would have been opened- it's only open for winter season. We loved walking around the resort and stopped by the park to play for a bit. Husband hit some balls at the range and practiced on the putting green. Overall the stay was great! The staff were accommodating and pleasant. Crystal Mountain is not the same Crystal Mountain from the past!!! We have been going there for over 20yrs bringing multiple family's and in my opinion the resort is heading in the wrong direction losing that calm family experience. This has been going on for a few years now. You can simply feel the change. Rates for golf is priced way out of line. The product they are providing is not worth the money. You can play other courses within a 30 min drive (Manistee Golf & Country club) for the same product. Also, the staff in the pro shop are not friendly at all. Unacceptable for the rates they are charging. Also, please watch out for this dude that walks around with an ear piece in his ear giving commands when something doesn't go his way. Almost like you are being watched by the gestapo. Never experienced anything like it. read more

My husband and I came up for a mini holiday to catch the end of the snowboarding season. This was both of our first time staying at the resort. Lots of pros and cons for our short weekend: Pro - 1. My husband is a snowboarder and said there are tons of trails depending on one's skill level. Since we visited mid March, there wasn't a ton of of snow, mostly slush, but he enjoyed the varying hills.2. The breakfast buffet at The Wild Tomato was delicious. The price was about $22 per person. The host, Rich, was super friendly. He had the best customer service out of anyone we met at the resort. 3. Since this was a last minute trip, we booked the smallest room, a Pinehurst Studio. It was within a few minutes walking to the lift and was the perfect size for our stay. The room had an unexpected washer and dryer (which made sense after my husband's ski clothes needed to be dried after all the slush.) We were here during the Spring Carnival; they had lots of added activities which was neat. Cons - When we checked in, the Guest Check In staff made the comment that "that's our smallest room, there's barely enough room to turn around." I thought that was a very odd way to welcome someone. Like we know the room is a small but at $360ish for two nights, the price isn't small. We had to call maintenance to come fix the TV and we never got the radiant heat working for the bathroom floor, which was freezing. There is a charge to go walking in the woods at the Art Park area. That seems a bit excessive to pay to walk on some trails. This is definitely a family place, lots of kids everywhere so if you want some quiet time in the outdoor hot tub or indoor pool, try to go during the day when most people will be on the ski hills. My husband forgot his snowboard boots so had to rent a pair ($30). The rented ones had mud all over them so not even cleaned off and the kid behind the counter gave him ski boots so he had to go exchange them again. A small point but still, as part of a resort customer service, I would think they would have a little more attention to detail. Overall, this was a great place to spend a few days. We are hoping to visit again next ski season and spend a little more time on the different trails. It is a quaint resort and you can see how the area people enjoy being there. If you visit during summer, I would think bringing bikes would be awesome as there are lots of little paved roads to explore while checking out the cute cabins. read more

We stayed in the hamlet, room 142. We had two adults and one child in our room. We stayed from New Year's Eve till the 3rd. It was pricey but included all day lift tickets for everyone in our room. Our room came with an outdoor locker that our room key opened to store ski gear. We fit 4 pairs skis, 4 poles, 2 snowboards and all their bags in their easily. Our room had two queen beds. The large picture window faced the Buck lift. They had nice faux wood blinds that were very effective and the large window gave another place to pile supplies we brought. We had a door to a very small patio area that was closed off by a fence. We were able to keep our very large cooler there to help store drinks. There was a small bench right when you walked in to sit on to put boots on. A large closet right by the door. Hooks in the wall above the bench for coats. This area was isolated from the rest of the room which kept the mess out of the way and out of sight. I brought a drying rack from home which fit in the closet. I would highly recommend this. I also brought a plastic boot mat but we really didn't need it. There was a decent sized tv. It had 3 hdmi inputs along with co-ax and aux. The room came with a DVD player. We also had WiFi provide by crystal mountain so I was able to plug in both our Nintendo switch and amazon fire stick to the TV. Had our netflix at night that way and kids had video games. Everything ran fine. By the queen beds was another closet we could hang clothes in. Had about 8 hangers. I would bring more hangers from home if I came again. There was a lot of closet space I could have used. Also had one stand for a suitcase. The tv was on a large dresser which had 6 drawers. Easily fit all of mine and my daughters clothes. The night stand had a clock and CD player . Also a few more drawers. There was a round table and 4 chairs. I was able to scoot them around and fit another folding table (4 foot) that I had brought from home. The efficiency kitchen was GREAT. Had a fairly large dorm fridge. Full sized sink with a faucet that turned into a sprayer. Had a set of four real plates, small plates, silverware, coffee mugs, drink glasses, and wine glasses. Included a small dish soap, paper towel roll, kitchen towel and dish cloth. Lots of cupboard space. Large pull out trash and recycling. Toaster, small coffee maker. Housekeeping washed and replaced all dishes we used each day which was amazing. There was an ice bucket and an ice maker down the hall. That room also a pay washer and dryer. The bathroom was a hallway off the side before the kitchen. The main area of the bathroom had some nice shelves to store items. The toilet was it's one room off to the right and the shower stall was it's own room off to the left. There were even more hooks in the shower area and the main area of the bathroom. So many helpful details. The shower was large enough for two adults. There was not a tub, however (the king room we stayed in last spring had a jacuzzi tub separate from the stand up shower). The resort is beautiful. There was a large heated tent with TVs and seating for skiers. There was a small warming hut on the top of the mountain, backside. There is a small ice skating rink (cost to rent skates) and multiple out door community fire pits. They have an outdoor pool and hot tub but it was a ways off from the mountain. There was an indoor pool and hot tub that we could use. Had to bring our hotel guest pass they gave us. The kids loved it. On the shallow size. Deepest part was a little over 4 feet. I was not overly impressed. With the glamour of the rest of the resort I felt this space was a bit of a let down. The staff running it and the set up felt very controlling. Had to split family up to go through locker rooms to get to the space. Those locker rooms were very tight. The environment in the pool was blah. It wasn't bad, just didn't seem to live up to the rest of the resort. Crystal had a nice selection of green, blue, and black runs. The north face on the back side had some great blues we could run all day. I loved Bugaboo. That side closes at 4:30. The rest is lit and open till 9pm. The totem park is self contained and has a magic carpet for beginners. Loki lift was a quad with a neat people mover system that allowed the chair lift to run at a high speed but made getting on really easy. Really neat system. Their main lift the crystal clipper and is a high speed that jumps tracks to slow down to pick you up. There are a few different terrain parks that were really well maintained. There are a few runs through the woods. Beautiful and capable without being a crazy good skier. read more

Was incredibly excited to play two rounds of golf at this course after seeing photos of the course. What they don't tell you is the gnats are borderline unbearable. Beyond that, our group booked a morning and afternoon round with a promise of a replay rate in the afternoon. After going to pay for our second round we found out that they were not going to honor the replay rate that was quoted over the phone and tried to charge us another full rate. We went over to champion hill instead. Better course. Half the price. Way better service. read more

Carting between holes was like riding on un-maintained gravel two tracks, with dug up trees and ground. Not at all picturesque. The fairways are marginal and the greens are pretty beat up. We visited Crystal Mountain for a family weekend wedding. We stayed at the main resort, in a three bedroom suite. Tips: -This place is gorgeous! Book a Bay Window Room if you can swing it; the views are worth it! -The rooms are quite modern with a delicate touch of lodge/cabin. Very well equipped- comfy beds, functional kitchenette, and loads of space. Quality bedding. -Service is impeccable. What ever you need, they will find it for you. We arrived late in the evening after a long drive, and the Front staff were friendly and helpful. Prompt and professional. -Free coffee in the main check-in area. And this is good, local coffee. Thank you, coffee is my lifeline! -Skiing here is the best in Michigan! They offer quality ski lessons, reasonable renting prices for gear, and the mountain is gorgeous. -Spa/Exercise options are extensive. I had a massage and it was superb. To those considering vacationing here- My honest recommendation, dont come on a holiday. Dont expect helpful or caring staff. Our experience was mediocre at best with few redeeming qualities. The Belgium waffles and the convenient short walking distance from our room the the lifts were the top two highlights or our stay. Cons- people are rude, not just staff but people here in general had and odd sense of entitlement. They ran out of rental equipment early in the day and after paying for rentals, no one on the staff cared that they ran out. "What we got out here is what we got." Said one staff members. The ski lessons that we paid for (hour long) ended after 50 minutes, petty? Maybe, but lessons aren't cheap. Lastly, they closed the chair lifts at 9 on new year's eve. We've been at other resorts where the lifts run untill midnight and you can watch the fireworks as you ski/snowboard down- ok, maybe we've been spoiled a little in the past. Pros- Belgium waffles. Room to lift walking distance. Weather was good. Overall, for some reason people here think highly of themselves because it's Crystal Mountain. I mean, chill, it's not that great..I'd rather stick to the smaller locations in MI. Less of a crowd and people are a little more humble. Had an awesome weekend here this past weekend! Great family style resort, good bunny hill to start your less experienced skiers on and bigger hills for everyone else. The staff was super friendly in all the areas even offering advice on the best hills based on experience. We had dinner at the Kinlochen the first night, had to wait 45 min but was worth it. Next day we got pizza at the resort, Betsie's River Pizza & Subs, was okay and did the job. Got hot chocolate and fries at the Clipper Cafe at the lodge while skiing and either we were starving or they were actually phenomenal. Kids took a dip in the pool one night and it was clean and nice. Overall, good family ski place, with nice lodging, easy to get around and a great atmosphere. We will be back! read more

We fell in love with Crystal Mountain. We were very fortunate to find time for a little get away. My son's girlfriend offered us her family's condo to spend the weekend. How could we pass up this offer? This was our first time here. Crystal Mountain is a short distance to TC and if you're up for an adventure, you can plan your trip to explore the area. Pulling into the resort, I felt like we were in Colorado. It was winter and we were in a snow globe. I can't begin to tell you how beautiful everything glistened in the sunlight. Our condo unit was located in the Wintergreen section. Since they own this condo, everything was provided and we loved the personal touches. I couldn't believe how large the condo was. It had two bedrooms and the couch pulls out into a bed. There are two full bathrooms and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Firewood is provided by the resort. Trust me, you need the fire roaring during Michigan winters. I loved the layout of the loft bedroom upstairs. Crystal Mountain is HUGE! There are so many possibilities for accommodations on the resort. If you prefer to stay in the hotel, it's an option, as well as larger homes to rent. This would be a great place for a large group of friends or to host a family get together. We were simply enjoying a romantic get away so we didn't need very much outside of the condo. They do have a small grocery store in the resort, but we planned on staying in so we brought enough food to feed an army. I tend to go overboard with food and entertaining, but we enjoyed cooking together. We did venture out to the lodge area to listen to some live music and watch skiers doing their thing. I'm not much of a skier, but we will be back to give it a try; this trip was not planned for skiing, but it looked like a great time. They also have an ice skating rink. There are a few restaurants to choose from, but we didn't eat at any of them, so I can't give a review. We loved the view of the forest from our back window and watching people snow shoe on the freshly fallen snow. We did take a little nighttime stroll around the resort and came upon the horse and sleigh rides. Nothing says romance more than a horse and sleigh ride in the snow....can you say magical! We can't wait to make another trip back to Crystal Mountain. read more

Crystal is our goto ski resort in Michigan. While I enjoy the skiing at Boyne Mountain more, the convenience of crystal only being 2 hours from us plays in heavily compared to Boynes 4 hours. Our group makes it up to Crystal about a half a dozen times a season including our annual New Years Trip! We book out The Mountain Valley Lodge that is 2 miles down the road from the resort and has reasonable pricing! Crystals bread and butter is the whole resort community as a whole. Good restaurants, cute village, great stores, and an all round welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for the family! I would for sure recommended this place to anyone, whether you ski/board or not. The resort has plenty to offer. The next 2 weeks are full of fun activities including my favorite Slush Cup! Where skiers and snowboarders attempt to fly over a small pond of water! A must see! Gorgeous, small town picturesque ski resort with many trails. There's also a small skating rink. They have fire pits which is really nice to warm up. There is a bar right off one of the slopes which have hot alcoholic drinks near one of the slopes, and a bar upstairs with live music at night. Good fun! The restaurant scene inside the resort is disappointing, just mediocre. There is, however a great breakfast place nearby, but this past year, they were displaying a for sale sign. Thinking of the fun that my fiance and I had in February of 2022 and now he's gone which reminds me of my loss, writing this. We loved this place for a nice getaway. read more

Love this resort for all season fun of skiing, swimming and fall festival. Great ski hills, day pass available for pool area is wonderful. Zero depth pool area my 1 and 3 year old loved playing in. Sand box area which the loved building in , hot tub and bigger pool area for swimming while tons of balls for basketball and volleyball. They service is amazing for Christmas parties with great food.
