This place is a great resource for anyone looking to learn more about Carnegie, do research on the…read morearea or even find out about ancestors who lived there. Sure, the place may look like a crazy relative's attic. And it may not be all that organized. But that's part of the charm. One of the highlights is the miniature Main Street circa 1950 that was created by one of the local residents in his later years. There are some great details behind those small windows. They also have a small room of Honus Wagner memorabilia. It's free of charge, but they do ask for donations. If you're lucky enough to be greeted by Bob and Jeff, I recommend spending as much time with them as you can. It's worth just stopping by to meet these two guys with a passion for this town. They are eager to share all their knowledge and stories with you. Jeff even drew me a caricature while Bob gave me the tour. The Historical Society of Carnegie can be a place of nostalgia for the locals or a place of wonder for someone new to the area and exploring it for the first time. Carnegie is lucky to have such a place.

Great for local history…read more We were in Pittsburgh for a school project on Andrew Carnegie so we passed through Carnegie, PA hoping for dinner. Instead we saw the light on after hours and the lone volunteer welcomed us in. The model of the town is fun and it's an Aladdin's Cave for local history. The main attraction is baseball and hometown legend, The Flying Dutchman. All the big sports stations stop by to film some local color for big Pirates games. The volunteers are so generous with their time and enthusiasm. The kids got to hold vintage bats and gloves and wear props for photos. A memorable visit.

This is such an incredibly cool space! I've been here to use…read morethe library, to attend performances, to participate in performances and attend special events in the event space. All of the experiences have been wonderful. The library portion is fantastic. A large kids section with friendly and helpful librarians, a great area (with a fireplace!) to relax, computers and an overall great selection of books. The music hall portion is wonderful as well. Seats are pretty comfortable with a decent amount of room and you can see well from basically anywhere in there. The backstage area has two large dressing rooms with lighted mirrors. The only downside is that there is fairly limited parking, so if you are attending an event, you need to get there early enough to grab a spot or hope for nearby street parking.

Built high on the hill, I am sure it witnessed a lot of Pittsburgh history. The kind staff allowed us to see the theater. It is very similar to Carnegie Library of Homestead. The lower level seats have been adopted and refurbished with nice padding. The Library is still raising funds to refurbish the seats on the 2nd floor. The fireplace on the main floor of the Library is enormous from floor to ceiling (at least 20 ft ceilings). The Civil War Nurses exhibit brought us to the library. Very enjoyable. We will be back to experience other events at the Library and theater. Ample parking during Library hours. Not sure enough parking onsite for theater events. Street parking available.

Such a staple in the community! The Crafton Public Library is a small but cozy library located in…read morethe middle of Crafton. My first visit there, the librarians were kind and welcoming when I explained that I needed a library card. Once you get your card, you are able to access the computers, wifi and of course the many books and magazines you want. All I needed to set up the card was a photo ID. The main floor was decently spread out for what seems like a small library at first. There were multiple lounge areas and workspaces for any project you might have. As you walk further into the room you will notice the small computer area of about 8 desktops. One thing that was a bit of a problem was the 30 minutes session allowed on the computers. I have been to other community libraries and some vary in time sessions. 30 minutes for a library that isn't very busy or lots of traffic coming through is tough. However, it is pretty simple to just log onto another session after the first 30 minutes is up. A nice library with kind and helpful librarians is a win win! It cost 10 cents a page to print which is standard most public places. I do not spend tons of time in the library, but this place is good for getting things done!
