We stayed in Lincoln Hall and Wright Hall, personally I was in Wright. There were silverfish in my room, bugs in my windows some dead on the floor when I arrived. The screen was partly broken, the showers had mold in the shower heads, there were dead bugs in the showers. I don't know how often the communal bathrooms were cleaned on each floor (or even if janitors skipped it because of there being a camp having to reside in the building) but the showers were never cleaned during our stay, there was hair stuck in the drain and toilet paper all over the floor. (Again don't know how often that's done so if it wasn't supposed to be done then ignore that). The school has water refill stations on each floor and the one on my floor was broken :( so we had to go down to the boys floor to refill or go into the school. I will say this next thing is a bit of a personal preference issue but there were no elevators- so you had to lug all of your stuff up 3 flights of stairs- which isn't bad but imagine moving into a dorm and having loads of things to carry. It's not efficient and a pain but it's tolerable. In the Dining hall the bathrooms were covered with toilet paper so it didn't seem they were checked all that often. The staff was great though always considerate and wanted to make sure you had everything. Overall I wouldn't want to go there again or choose to go to college there if those are my living conditions.

I've seen other Fortis locations…read morelisted, but they have different addresses, so to be clear, this review is for the Fortis Institute located at 450 N Sam Houston Pkwy E, Ste 200, Houston, TX 77060. I attended this school for the Medical Assistant program to work toward becoming a CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant). At the beginning, my experience was okay and I didn't have many issues with my classes or instructors. However, as I got further into the program, my experience started to change. There were three staff members in particular that I had issues with. 1. Ms. Marin: I later found out that she would talk about me and my friends, and there were times when she would call us out in front of the entire class in a way that made us feel singled out or less than everyone else. I don't think students should be made to feel embarrassed in front of their classmates, especially by an instructor. 2. Ms. Nun: Whenever I had class with her, I felt like we barely learned anything. I specifically remember my friends and I asking if we could go through the skills list and practice different things to see what we still remembered and what we needed more help with. We were trying to make sure we were actually prepared, but our request was basically ignored and we barely practiced anything. 3. Ms. Moxcley: Toward the end of the program, we were told that we would receive assistance with finding employment. I remember reaching out to her multiple times about finding a job, but I would either receive no response or very little communication. Because I wasn't getting anywhere, I recently contacted Ms. Goss for help finding an MA position. I explained that I'm specifically interested in working as a Medical Assistant in an OB/GYN clinic. She told me she would call me. When she called, I happened to be busy and missed it, but I returned her call shortly afterward. She didn't answer, so I sent her a message letting her know I had called back and was available. This happened Tuesday. By Friday, I still had not received a response to any of the messages I sent afterward. I finally sent another message, and she responded saying she would call me "momentarily." I waited about two hours and still did not receive a call. That is what finally pushed me to leave this review. One of the things students are told is that Fortis will help them with employment after completing the program. In my experience, once you're finished with the school, getting that help has been extremely frustrating. Messages go unanswered, communication is inconsistent, and the employment assistance I was told I would receive has not been what I expected. I also don't understand the point of asking students what area they want to specialize in as an MA if the positions they are being directed toward aren't related to what they said they were interested in. I understand that nobody can guarantee you a specific job, but there is a difference between not being able to guarantee employment and simply not communicating with a former student who is actively asking for assistance. I completed my program and I'm genuinely trying to start my career and put my education to use. I'm not asking anyone to hand me a job. I'm asking for the career assistance and communication that we were told would be available to us. Unfortunately, my experience trying to receive that assistance has been extremely disappointing.

At…read moreleast one paper or project is due a week and you have to respond to the forum posts a couple of times a week. There are deadlines because there has to be. It is not a diploma mill, you absolutely have to do the work and can fail. If you're not a self starter and able to make constant deadlines then you may have some problems. There are good mentors and a some who fall short but it is on you to do the work. I had mentors that were very involved with the students. I had some that were less involved, most were very involved and available. Exams are proctored online and they're very strict. If you use AI on a paper or project and you will absolutely fail. They scan every paper for it. Customer service is definitely something that they could improve on. As far as mentors making their own rules (like a minimum of 250 words in a forum post) it does happen and it does make things challenging.

The Newtown campus opened in 1969 on 79 acres in the southeastern quadrant of Newtown Township. According to its website it attempts to instill a passion for truth and a commitment to seeking wisdom. What it doesn't say is that it also permitted a small community non-profit to utilize its facilities to carry on a Strategic Planning session in one of its classrooms on a Saturday when the building was otherwise closed. That group dedicated to the conservation and public awareness of Newtown Creek is very appreciative of the spirit of the founders of the school who see their mission as educating individuals to become responsible citizens. They have work opportunities on campus and town is nearby if they want to work in the community. They allow the kids to have their cars on campus from the first year, especially since they require the kids to get involved in a church outside of the school My daughter loves her admissions counselor, guidance counselor and her teachers. She has made a wonderful group of friends, has become involved in a church off campus and she is thriving. I think the biggest testimony to me was anytime we asked any of the students if they liked the school, they all said they loved it. The president is often the speaker at chapel and he teaches a class as well. I just can't say enough about this institution.

They've done this to someone I know who paid 4 thousand for classes she wasn't suppose to have and shes a special needs student. The advisor just put her any random class the professors even said she wasn't suppose to be in them but never dropped her before the deadline line, so they dropped her after only 2 classes and say she can't get her money back when they didn't even prerequisite her academics. Don't go here you won't achieve nothing because they are only about robbing who they think won't stand up for themselves.
