I had a great experience working with Betts Recruiting. I worked with associate, Chris Martin, throughout the hiring process and highly recommend him for anyone looking to work with a recruiter in NYC. From our very first meeting, I felt confident that he honestly had my best intentions in mind and I never once felt pressured to make a premature decision. He listened to my goals and what I was looking for in a company and was able to provide me with four positions I might be interested in during our first conversation. He was a great resource throughout the interview process and our prep work really made me feel confident ahead of each discussion with my potential employers. I knew from very early conversations which company was my front runner, and while I enjoyed my conversations with the other companies, I was very transparent with Chris so that he could potentially go to bat for me. Chris was very realistic with me and was able to let me know if I was interviewing against many other candidates, which was somewhat nerve wracking, but helped. My only suggestion is If you are currently in the process of working with a recruiter, be very transparent and honest about what you like and do not like about these companies. Complete waste of time. The only point in working with Betts is to secure lower level roles, otherwise they are mostly spinning your wheels. I "worked" with Gabby Michnoff, but it's hard to say she actually did work or did anything. After an initial phone call, in which Gabby was somewhat insulting and condescending, we scheduled an in-person meeting. Gabby shamed me for my work history but offered to set up interviews with four different companies. None of those interviews came about, and Gabby was highly unresponsive and at times seemed to forget we were even working together. Gabby's cavalier attitude and blatant unprofessionalism were frustrating at best and completely terrible at worst. I'd avoid her at all costs. I've also connected colleagues with Gabby, who have had a similarly poor experience. This was my second time working with Betts and I'd strongly recommend anyone considering them to go another way, there are much better ways to land your next role and odds are it won't be with Betts or recruiters like Gabby. read more

Working with Betts Recruiting was truly a blessing. I specifically worked with Arleigh Lane, who was amazingly supportive in every step of the way. The entire process was refreshingly transparent. We started with a phone call where she asked me questions about what I'm looking for and what my current position is, so she can gauge if it would be a beneficial relationship and to help me find a good fit. We met in person after that, where she took a deeper dive into my career goals and also laid out several opportunities. I had an amazing experience with Bett's recruiting. I worked with Mike Rooney, and he was awesome to work with. What I noticed with most recruiters is they wouldn't take the time to really understand what I wanted out of career and try to find the best fit. They'd say "Send me your resume, and I'll see what I can do." But Mike had a very long in-depth conversation with me and would find opportunities that were a great fit. Beyond that, he would get on the phone with me and prepare me for every interview. He'd tell me what questions I should be asking and how to appeal to each person interviewing me. Mike's guidance landed me two job offers where I felt so confident going into the interview. On top of that, Mike offered to help me decide if I wanted to take the job, he helped me negotiate my salary, and offered to look at my contract. He even offered to help me find an apartment in New York City when I accepted my job. To say the least, Mike exceeded my expectations and more importantly produced amazing results. My original recruiter's experience was awesome and I was excited to join because of it, but he stepped down after quite a long time with the Betts. First, Julianne Connors' dedication is unmatched! Second, she took on another client to her already full stack and treated me like her own. Third, she had great insights to every company and the big players throughout each interview process. This bit of information is so simple, but it's not always quality and that has a big impact over the phone and in-person. What makes Julianne different is her coaching ability, listening skills, organization and the ability to hammer down real opportunities VERY fast. A true professional with great communication skills. Recruiters are unprofessional. Worked with Rachel Karawan, she threw a tantrum over the phone because I needed more time before moving forward with a job offer. I didn't think it was appropriate to work with her anymore and requested to work with someone else at the company. Her manager Lavar Nava was even worse. Lavar told me that I wouldn't be able to work with any other recruiter because she trained Rachel personally. These women were absolutely insulting, they took no responsibility for their behavior. No empathy what so ever. I had to arrange for the San Francisco office to take over managing my job offers. I do not recommend working with this agency. read more

Three words: Betts. Is. Awesome. I work in account management and am currently in the middle of searching for a new job, and I'm so impressed with the hard work that Betts has put into finding me a position. I've been working with Aly and I'm really impressed with how great of an advocate she's been in finding companies that fit my interests and getting my name out there to them. I've had multiple phone interviews and a job interview (and job offer, although I elected not to take it since it ultimately wasn't the best fit) in just the past two months alone. Aly has always been proactive about describing the companies and positions, sending over information and tips about interviewing and scheduling prep calls before each interview to make sure we're on the same page. As a disclaimer, I'm fairly entry level with a few years of sales/account management experience under my belt, so my experience is really only applicable to SDR (sales development representative) positions and I don't have much knowledge about the recruiting experience with higher-level positions. We had scheduled to have a phone call, and she forgot completely. I called her and had to reintroduce myself and the fact that we had a phone call scheduled. She then told me she's on pacific time, which I was not sure what I was supposed to do with the information. My resume did say New Jersey. Very awkward start. 2. Currently, they do not have any positions for me, a senior accountant / auditor. At that point I was already speaking to multiple companies but she introduced me to a ton of other companies she was working with. So make sure you are ready to start interviewing straight away! After forwarding my information, based on information found on their site, I received a generic email from someone name "Lindsey" saying they didn't have anything that fit my qualifications. Found it a bit hard to believe considering the company advertises they fill CSM positions and I have direct experience in this field. Company seems a bit robotic and misleading. However, Lindsey did include a list of 4 sites/companies that recruited for jobs that I DO NOT qualify for. (I know it was a generic email because I received the same email 1hr later ;-).. never had the chance to speak with anyone from the company because the phone number led no where. Based on this experience alone I'd have to say "No" to working with this company. Would have rather ben told "we are busy and will reach out later". read more

My experience with Betts was fantastic! I had the pleasure of working with Lindsay Irwin, their rockstar recruiter. Lindsay is consummate professional who truly loves her job. No shock that she's really great at it too. She asked all the right questions and helped guide me through the job search process with ease. After we discussed the positive and negative aspects of each, we settled on three positions. The entire process took a little over two weeks.
