Pro tip: The speed is free on Sundays. My daughter was inspired by some community artwork with mixed media on canvas. We showed a picture of the inspiration to Ms Audrey. She had the perfect materials and know-how to help us create our own masterpiece, inspired by the art we saw at the museum. My daughter did not want to do anything else in the city besides make art with Ms Audrey- we even skipped the children's museum. We learned different techniques for using the materials and I'll definitely be incorporating them as we continue to create at home. I chose the shirts that my husband wore the most plus, things that he enjoyed doing and those that reflected his personality. (I created a paper map of the quilt and why the shirt was chosen, so my girls would have the context.). HDQ is not the cheapest, but durability was way more important to me than price. I wanted to blanket to last as the shirts can never be replaced. The real quilting to pull the layers together is critical, so the blanket can be washed repeatedly. I want the girls to be able to curl up with the blanket and use them. Not just put the blanket in a drawer to preserve it.
