I went to Pure on the recommendation of three childhood friends who still live here. They ALL said to go to Pure. I grew up in Decatur and left for grad school many years ago. I recently returned after living in four states during my career. I have always had three criteria when I make a move to a new location, and they have served me well. Find: 1. A Doctor you can relate to and trust. 2. Someone who gives a great haircut. 3. An auto mechanic you can trust and who does great work. I've found #3 in Decatur Pure Station. After my early check-in, I sat in the waiting area for about two hours, watching and listening to the manager interacting with customers. My observations? Friendly, matter-of-fact, clear. Andy explained everything going on with his client's cars. He made recommendations, and more importantly, noted what didn't need to be done. He gave accurate representations about when services would be completed. For my car, he got the part quickly and told me they had looked over the whole car and only found one repair that needed to be made (besides my originating situation). He was accurate in his honesty, because I already knew I was needing a new rear brake job in the next month. While my car was being repaired, I walked around downtown Decatur. I reacquainting myself with some old, and mostly new, businesses and restaurants. I arrived back at the repair shop in the mid-afternoon, just after they finished repairing the car. Andy explained everything they did, and gave me a very fair price for the service I received. Am I ever glad to have found Pure. Five Stars, and even higher.

He immediately told me no and did a "get out of the way" gesture and said "next". This is the closest gas station to my house and I'm a local resident who will be here for a long time. I will never use this gas station again and will tell all my neighbors to not use it either. The facility, inside and outside, is dirty and there's always people loitering outside. I've seen loiterers walk up to people pumping gas and ask to pump their gas for them in exchange for money. Not a safe station to get gas at.

I tried calling the phone number listed via a google search but didn't get anyone picking up the phone. Then when I go into the store the East Indian looking guy behind the glass asked me weird questions rather than simply asking for my ID after I clearly described my card and the name on it. This smacks of racism in Black communities by outsiders. I'm glad they had my card but they need to update their pumps, get a working phone number, and ask more appropriate questions in these instances, especially since this is largely a Black community. I doubt he'd ask the pump number I used if I were White or East Indian. The store was filthy and had some area blocked off apparently for video gambling.

But I had managed to let my tank run too far down and I did not want to run out of gas today. So here we are at this convenient station just off I-285. Two of the pumps were out of service which tends to be annoying when you're driving a vehicle that has a turning radius that approximates the State of North Dakota. So after one big circle, I was able to line up at a pump, run my credit card and purchase 21 gallons of fuel (the Sprinter van technically holds 24.5 but she was whining about "reserve") before I was out and on my way. The pump area is clean and there was no trash. It's a busy place and I would recommend being very aware of your surroundings. They had taps of different flavors of nitro coffees and you could make your own fresh teas. Everything seemed so modern! They even had a cute little robot with an animated eyes doing mopping while we were there. It's right before I-285 slip road and US-78 Lawrence ville highway. Also it is close to North Dekalb mall, Little Creek Horse Conservancy, and Decatur community garden. They have an ATM, QT kitchen and convenience store. Only problem with this place is getting back on the street without getting hit by oncoming cars. Would suggest visiting during the daytime to avoid the crowd. QuikTrip is a convenience store chain supplying snacks, sandwiches and fountain drinks, plus gasoline. Their menu includes fresh Pizza by the Slice and X-Large and Personal Pizza, Soft Pretzels, sub sandwiches and wraps, grilled cheese and toasted croissants, breakfast pizza, and other delicious breakfast items. They also offer soft-serve vanilla cones and QuikShakes. QuikTrip's famous fountain is always guaranteed to quench your thirst, with more than 30 flavors of soda and tea, not to mention their frozen drinks too.

While it is quite new, I have already run into issue with machines being damaged. That is quite sad. From my couple of visits, it seems that they have enough tanks to service the crowd that they get. And the prices are reasonable - definitely MUCH better than my side of town. A quite non-shady place to get gas along this stretch.
