I truly was excited to give them my business. but I am extremely disappointed with Bevins Roofing's communication. Despite their glowing recommendations, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I have reached out multiple times through various channels--phone calls (left a voicemail), emails, a Facebook message, and even the contact form on their website--and have received zero response. Yes I did give them time (months) and follow-up emails (in case mine was never received) but still nothing. It's incredibly disheartening to be completely ignored when you're trying to get your roof repaired. Reliable communication is essential, especially for such an important service. Called Bevin's Roofing on a Monday, left message, they returned call on Tuesday and scheduled repairmen for Thursday of same week. I had a new HVAC installed a few years ago and the roof exhaust vents were popping up. Bevin's sent a tech (Gary) and he was able to resolve the issue for me. Gary was very professional and knew what to do, the HVAC folks did not secure the vents properly. Gary walked the roof , cleaned up the roof gully of pine straw. Great company and great tech. Bevins recently replaced the roof on our home and detached 2 car garage. They showed up on time at 7am and the crew was finished at 4:30pm. The crew was professional and answered my numerous questions as they worked. They installed the GAF shingle system. The cleanup was as efficient as the installation. I received 5 estimates and they were fair in the pricing. I read some of the reviews and was concerned about the company. I ended up going to the office in person to speak with them about the comments. All my questions and concerns were answered. I was impressed with their community involvement and the fact that they support a local school and have provided turkey dinners for hundreds of families over the years. Beautiful work! They were quick to come out and do the quote. A little bit of a wait, but the weather was so off and on. Workers showed up right at 7 am and worked well into the evening. Every person that came out to our home was polite and knowledgeable. I did however have to knock off a few stars due to the office admin. Have had to call numerous times to get a final invoice. Was told it was being emailed and was also physically mailed on Monday. It is now Friday and nothing has been recieved. The receptionist was quite rude and it seemed as though they have never delt with insurance claims. We had a little damage to our driveway due to a very heavy flatbed and when I asked her about that she replied very agitated with "I don't even have any idea about that, have a good day" and hung up. All we were trying to do was seal the deal and get the payment out. Overall I would still recommend this company. If I could give a 0 star review I would. It's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone from their office whether it's through phone or email. The day they were scheduled to show up no one ever did. My wife and I already started looking into other options and within the week of them not showing up they email us out of the blue saying they're going to have someone over the next day. Seriously? My wife and I both worked that day which was my response but they stated the work could be done without us being home. Upon completion of work they would message us to send the payment via check to their P.O. Box which my wife and I did, however they never sent us a paid invoice which we need for our insurance claim. I've emailed them multiple times over a month ago now for this. None of their numbers reach anyone and they don't respond to any emails. It's a shady business. Go elsewhere and get your moneys worth out of a business that actually cares about the customer's needs. read more

Bevins is maybe the best roofing contractor I've run across in all my 40+ years of having to worry about home maintenance. First-off, they're personable and very businesslike when providing their estimate, which includes a lot of technical detail and clear calculations on how their numbers are developed. And, as a special treat, the normal sales and marketing fluff so common with roofing companies is totally absent. Once the job is started (my experience was that it was very close to the original estimate, in spite of a few unplanned weeks of bad weather), the roofing crew performs like a well-oiled machine --- at the house shortly after dawn, and long and grueling days of real work, with the crew being supervised and 'motivated' by the most agile roof acrobat and hardest-working roofer I've ever seen. No detail seemed to have been missed in the job --- as an example, after the tear-off the entire crew spent close to two hours combing the flower beds and shrubbery with magnets, retrieving old roofing nails and small pieces of old shingle. The shrubbery scan was done again after the new roof was installed, even though the number of new nails retrieved during that pass I'm sure was quite small. And the finished product was really excellent --- every shingle perfectly aligned, new vents, flashing and pipe collars all perfect and painted to blend with the roof color, and no trash or debris anywhere to be seen. Additionally, we found Bevins' prices to be very competitive --- while not the least expensive estimate we received, they were only higher by a matter of a few hundred dollars. We've also had Bevins help out with siding and trim repairs on the house, and, although it's a completely different part of the company with different crews, we had the same no-nonsense, businesslike experience with that work, too. No complaints about workmanship. Serious questions about administrative affairs. Absolutely don't believe their timeframe given for a rebate (2-4 weeks). Our roof was completely replaced 12 weeks ago and we have yet to receive our rebate information, that we still have to file with the manufacturer. Right now we're doubting this company used the correct materials to qualify us for the rebate, as we have no proof and no rebate information to prove otherwise. So far, the excuses we've gotten are: 1. The account wasn't paid under your name 2. We don't have you marked down as qualified for rebate 3. The manager/owner isn't in and has to review it *several times we got this one 4. The paperwork has to be filed for the warranty first and that takes time (this was at 8 weeks, was supposed to happen in those 2-4 weeks as originally promised) 5. The folder for your last name-first letter is missing, I think someone has it for processing 6. It is going out this week (it didn't), and finally, weeks later - 7. We confirmed it went out, but we don't know why you haven't received it yet. It must be lost in the mail. The final excuse is the most upsetting, as in the course of the 12 weeks we've been given every excuse imaginable we've received TWO "Thank you for your business" cards + business cards for referrals - via.. THE MAIL. This is either a comical example of the worst case scenario for every step of their process, or indicative of an unwillingness/inability to deliver promised value. When a full financial quarter has passed without resolution we will be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

We just completed a significant roof replacement on a high pitched, complex built up roof requiring four days of effort. This company did a fantastic job from start to finish. The crew was professional, clean, careful about shrubbery, clean up after each day's work. These guys knew how to work!! They were on the job at sun up, not just arriving at the jobsite at sun up, but on the roof working at sun up and didn't stop until after dusk. All of them arrived together each day and left together, a team effort throughout the job. Admirable work ethic on consistent display the whole time. All the neighbors commented on the teamwork. Management was represented on the job several times a day to see if we had any concerns. We were fully confident that we were getting the best available in Tidewater. On the final walkthrough, Tucker (the management representative) noticed that there were a few shingles which were a slightly different color, pointed those out to me and immediately got up on the roof himself, removed and replaced the few shingles which did not quite match the others. Acute attention to the details. We were convinced that this company is about customer satisfaction and is aggressive in making sure they deliver it. They gave us a detailed proposal (which was most competitive) and fulfilled it. They were timely in getting the work done. I can't say enough about these guys. We are going to hire them more to do some gutter installation and replace the roof on a rental property. read more

They just finished our roof today. Yesterday they worked until a storm approached and they had to come down. The temperature outside was in the 90's which meant it was about 110 degrees on the roof. The workers are very hard working and polite. They did a good job of cleaning up after the job was done. Since my husband had done roofing in the past, he recognizes when a job is well done. This was a two part repair need. Storm damage caused problems to my house and a workshop. The house repair was an active leak. I contacted a wise friend who told me they had Bevins do their roof and they did a good job. So I love using local and called them. It took a second call the next day and I told them another storm was coming and I had a leak. So they classified as a "active' leak and called that day. Came out the next day and did the job. Good guys, good job, good price. That repair was just under $700. So a small repair in the scope of things. The next stage was the worst. They were supposed to contact me that week for an estimate on the work shop, which was a larger job. The insurance company came out and said it would need a new roof, and a few other repairs. They paid out all in less then a week, and I still had not heard from the "home improvement" side of Bevins. Made many calls, and finally asked for the owner to call me. I got some other guy who was very curt with the conversation. This would be about 3.5 weeks now after the active leak fix. He decided to state the obvious, which struck me very odd in that I could go get an estimate from where else. You think? What company sends good work away. Maybe they don't want to work with insurance companies, but I would think that was a lot of their business. I again asked for the owner to call me to insure he knew the poor administration responses. My thinking was he should know, I like giving someone time to fix the problem. He never called. I guess my 5k job was not enough for them, which is odd seeing how they did so well on the small active leak. Very confused about the hot and cold of this company. read more

We just had our entire roof replaced by Bevins and the experience was excellent. From our first quote, to the completion of the job, took less than one week. The salesman did not try to push any extras and even provided locations of houses with roofs installed in the colors we were considering. The roofing team arrived preciously at 7:00 and was cleaning up by 6:00 in the evening. They did a fantastic job of informing us on progress and any issues with rotten wood or other repairs. If you have time to waste, call them. You will need to babysit them every step of the way with repeated phone calls from your end. From taking weeks just to get an estimate even after the sales person has visited and only after repeated phone call. Then more calls to them asking for a work date to the point of feeling like your begging, to only having to wait weeks later for a call from them for another date because they didn't show up for the first one. If your roof is already leaking as mind was and they knew it, I'd advise finding another company. Any positive reviews I read was not worth the extra damage done inside my house due to the 2 month wait of which I was originally told that they could get to the repairs fairly quickly. read more

2016 I received a voicemail regarding a message I left pertaining to an estimate that I never received. The message left by the secretary said she sent the estimate at 1746 hrs Thursday 28 April. It wasn't the email address I gave the estimator on Monday 25 April when he showed 1.5 hours late to the appointment I scheduled 1 week in advance. It also isn't the email address I gave over the phone to the secretary on Wednesday 27 April when I called the office because the estimate that I was promised Monday was now 2 full days late. Yet again, I find myself emailing regarding an estimate that is now 5 days late because of a series of logistical failures on their end. I will reiterate the message I attempted to convey yesterday when I called the office. I schedule my appointment a week in advance; they some how forgot my appointment. No phone call, no courtesy. I had to call after I had been waiting at the property for an hour and no one showed up. From that point I had to wait another, almost two hours, for a stand-in estimator. The estimator was nice, he did his job well. I was promised an estimate by close of business Monday. Never got it. Got a call around 1900 hrs Monday stating I would have my estimate Tuesday. Tuesday, no estimate. I called, they promise me an estimate Wednesday. I call Wednesday, they tell me I'll have it Thursday. Thursday, no estimate because transcription seems to be an issue. This after having verbally dictated my email address to two points of contact at the company. Some how zeroesin my email address became 1's when my estimate was now 5 days late. I pursued an estimate with the company because my business partner recommended them. We've used the company at some of the flip houses we have renovated. I typically use Pyramid Roofing and now I know why. When I schedule and appointment for 0800, they show up 15 mins early. My estimates are prepared on site and if they aren't I get them within 24 hrs without having to chase someone down for their business. The failures here have cost them my business. I'm no longer interested in receiving my estimate. I vehemently encourage potential clients and business associates to look elsewhere for roofing services. You can expect that I will most certainly share this experience with other potential clients on Angie's list, Home Advisor and other similar services. I will also note that I am sure the company will post a reply somewhere stating that they did everything to rectify the situation, they emailed an estimate blah blah blah. That would be a complete fabrication. These are the raw facts. Poor customer service. No follow-up. Late for appointments. Failure to deliver an estimate on time. Run-around. If you want a solid roofing company with great service hire Pyramid Roofing or United Roofing Corporation, both based out of Va Beach. Excellent companies to work with. read more
