Great place, don't get me wrong, but I was just denied because my girlfriend was with me and didn't have her ID. She's 19 anyway, and I refuse to even entertain the idea of buying her anything. Last time I shop at BevMo. Came in on Sunday and purchased a 6 pack of Carlsberg Elephant beer, a 4 pack of Rekordelig Ciders, and a bottle of Trader Vic's Mai Tai mix. Beer and Cider were fine. The Mai Tai mix was horrible! Tasted like sweet and SOUR mix. I mean really sour. No good. Came back the next day to exchange it for a different Mai Tai mix. I didn't have my receipt, which is my fault, but anywhere you shop can look up your purchase on the card you used. Nope! We can't do that I was told. Ok, how about you look up my BevMo member number that I used for the purchase? Nope, can't do that! Look, I'm not asking for my money back, just exchanging for a different mai tai mix. Nope, can't do that! No receipt, you're out of luck. I'm sorry, that's just lame and frustrating. Poor customer service in my book. It was only $7.99, but it's the point. Been a BevMo member for many years. Spent a few thousand over the years on parties, dinner parties, special occasions, weekend purchases, etc.,. You lost a customer now. Will never step foot inside a BevMo again. Total Wine has better prices anyway, and the one time I needed to exchange an item (a wine that tasted off), without a receipt, it was no problem. They looked it up based on my card I used. They will be getting my business moving forward. read more

I love going to BevMo for their 5 cent sale! Where else can you get a second bottle of wine for just 5 cents?! Now that I think about it, I guess the store IS kinda small compared to other locations like other reviewers have mentioned. But I've never had any problems with this store. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking and the store is situated in a great location. I also love the fact that you can find just about any beer on their shelves. Hubby and I really liked the Pineapple Mana Wheat from Maui Brewing Co. and couldn't find it anywhere except here. Which reminds me, I have to go in and grab some of that Schofferhofer grapefruit beer for a friend that's visiting this weekend. And she ONLY drinks that. And I can't find it anywhere else except at BevMo. read more

I love BevMo, but i hate this one. Why? Though I'm of age now, I ran into a situation when I was 20. I came here just to buy some Torani syrups for home use. No attempts to buy anything that contained alcohol at all. Lo and behold, when I get to the register, the cashier asked for my id. I present it to him and he said that I couldn't buy anything because I wasn't 21. I politely retorted with a, "I am not buying anything that contains alcohol." the cashier gets mad and says back, "you're not even supposed to be in here if you're not 21." I scratch my head and replied, "If that were the case, how come no one is checking ID's BEFORE I come in here?" then he proceeds for another couple of minutes repeating what he just said about how he can't sell ANYTHING to ANYONE if they're under 21. Ok that's fair. So why the 1 star? I go home and tell my girlfriend (at the time) that I couldn't make her a watermelon italian soda because the d-bag's at Bevmo wouldn't sell me any Torani . She is of course irritated because that's how girls are when they don't get what they want. She proceeds to drive to this VERY SAME Bevmo, not only an hour later. And walks out with a bottle of Torani Watermelon syrup in hand. "What the heck, they sold it you? After all that I went through?" she smiled, "yep! Didn't even ask for id." Another great example of how a pair of boobs will help you circumvent the "law," I guess. Haven't been back since. But I patronize the wonderful Woodland Hills location whenever I can. Will I continue coming here? Yes, they are the only place that carries my favorite wine. Will I enjoy it? Doesn't seem so. My poor husband was searching for my wine for 20 + minutes until he finally found someone who would assist him. Unfortunately, the guy turned out to be new which meant that it would take an additional 15 minutes to find it together. 35 plus minutes to find ONE BOTTLE of wine? ... no excuses. Ok, so that was one time, right? Nope, everytime I come here it is a graveyard with no one to assist me. Not only that but the majority of the time I end up standing at the register waiting for someone to come help me. This has happened to me every time I have gone, no matter what time of day. My mom refers to BevMo! as her "Home Away From Home". Between the Town Center and BevMo!, I sometimes ask myself why I don't move back to my hometown. But then I remember that in Simi Valley car washes out number the bars and the best time to drink is at 5pm at your neighbor's house before her husband gets home from work and demands his dinner. I always make it a point to come home in time for the family trips to BevMo! during the holidays. They have everything; liquor, beer, the proper glasses , tumblers, snacks, and mixers (although my family tends to think that the best thing to mix alcohol with is......more alcohol). Walking out with a box of wine you bought for 5 cents a bottle is a feeling that words cannot describe. But by far the icing on the cake is the BevMo! frequent shopper rewards card. One of the few (if any) places that I can find my Jack Daniels Black Jack cola. I usually end up buying all of their stock when I shop there. Granted, it's not a real jack & coke, but it is tasty. They've got an extensive wine selection if that's your bag. Plus lots of micro-brews and imports of beer and other al-key-hol you may have never heard of. They also carry old school sodas and bottled beverages the larger chain grocery stores don't carry. They even have Coke in glass bottles imported from Mexico that is made from cane sugar - the original 'classic' Coke and better tasting than the U.S. made Coke. read more

I've been a BEVMO customer for years. But never felt the need to write a review... until today. After checking the BEVMO website looking for a bottle of Highland Park 18yo Scotch (if you've never had it and are a Single Malt fan, you are doing yourself an injustice), and discovering that there was none available, I decided to call my Simi Valley BEVMO to see if they had any in stock. When I called, I spoke with the Manager Sean. He apologized that he did not have any on the shelf, but asked me if I would hold for a brief moment while he checked other area stores. He came back on the phone and informed me that he had located a bottle at another store 30 miles away and asked if I wanted him to call them and have it held for me. I told him that I wouldn't be able to get to the area of that store for at least a week. Without missing a beat, Sean said he would pick the bottle up for me and have it the following day. Who does that? In the days of the me me me Millennial Instant Gratification Generation he was more than happy to help me by going out of his way to get me what I was looking for. Sean went way above and beyond to not only locate the item I wanted, but he went out of his way, on his own time, to pick it up and have it waiting for me the following day. Sean's desire to take care of his customers is an example for all BEVMO Managers to follow. The Simi Valley BEVMO and Sean have earned my loyalty. read more

How can you give BevMo less than five stars? I just love this place; it's like the adult version of toys r us for kids! I always find my favorite wines and beers here, right down to the beer my husband and I had in Prague. They have an assortment of mixers, plastic cups, etc in the back. There is a small section with cheeses and salami too. This location is smaller than the other BevMo's (Canoga Park comes to mind) but you can most likely find what you're looking for. Ah, the Simi Valley Bevmo. A bit smaller than most Bevmo's, and not my first choice when looking for beer, but it's close to work, so I can check what's new in stock on my lunch breaks from time to time. They get some seasonal releases, but nothing too rare, though I have scored Firstone 13, in here when it was released, along with Schmaltz 14, and Parabola, over the years, so sometimes you can get lucky and get some gems, but those are FEW and far between, since they only got half cases of those, and they didnt last long, so it's partially about being lucky. Not too much beer knowledge in here for the staff, but they are friendly, and semi-attentive. The beer/wine tasting area is really small, and something I've only done once due to that. read more

I must have looked as lost as I felt, because a friendly helpful chap came and helped me pretty quickly. I was impressed by the sheer volume of stuff they have. I browsed around and rediscovered how much I do not know about wine, spirits, and pretty much anything drink related. I was looking for some alcohol for a recipe as well as for some champagne that was recommended to me. Sales guy was super helpful and was patient with my silly comments and sheer curiosity about all the shiny bottles locked in the case. 2 thumbs up. This store has F'n donkey doo attitude and service. I went there today 3/22/20 around 12:00 to pick up a couple bottles of wine. The employee meet met at the door saying that are only doing business through pick up using phone orders through your Bevmo app due to the corona virus. That is fine I totally understand. He then went on and rudely told me that we just cant let people come into our store. He also told me that I could not even wait outside the entrance either 6 feet apart from another person with a piss poor tone in his voice. He told me to go to my car and they will let me know when it it s ready. I sat in the parking lot and filled in an order using the app. I waited for 15 minutes and walked back to the store entrance to tell them that I placed an order and I am waiting for it in the parking lot. He told me that he does not have the order filled yet because it takes him 1 hour to fill each order. Wow! I thought that was ridiculous. I walked around for about a half hour and then went back to the entrance of the store. The employee at the door asked for my last name and said that there is no order placed. Evidently you have to click the checkout button two times not one time to complete the check out on the app. My mistake. Then the employee rudely shut the door in my face with out saying another word. I was not about to let the this rude son of witch POS verbally abuse me again. I left. I don't think that I will be back. I hope they go out of business for treating people like that and filling one order per hour. F'ng losers deserve to be in the unemploymnt line. Went in to buy a Couple of cases of wine. There were zero carts available. I asked for a manager. I told her there were no carts available and she said there was nothing she could do and then I can go out into the parking lot and get one. I asked her if she like me to shop somewhere else and she said there's nothing I can do. No wonder people drive all the way to Westlake to shop. Poor management. That's a first. I am a Simi very senior citizen. Watching my spending is very important so I try to get the best deal. I have been shopping at BevMo for a long time and always buying the same items. I was in TO a couple of weeks ago and stopped at total Wine and More for the "same items." At check out I thought there was a mistake on the total - Not So!! The total at BevMo was over $70. The total at Total Wine was just over $40. It was not a sale and it was not a coupon. It was not a mistake!! I have been giving BevMo $30 more every visit!! I am so angry. I really love to Yelp. I do not like to Yelp with negative words however, I feel the desire to do so after our extremely disappointing trip to BevMo in Simi Valley last night. It started the night before when we went in to get some wine and bourbon. The wine we bought was a Stella Rosa Black. The sign on the display box clearly stated $9.49. Yesterday, after reading the receipt, my wife read the price was $10.99. Now she wanted to buy another bottle for a co-worker. So we went back last night and with the proverbial two birds scenario by getting another bottle and an adjustment to the price we paid the night before. Now the fun starts. We went back to the display and there was a young gentleman who was re-arranging the display with the same sale card display. My wife started asking him about the wine about how long the sale was for this particular wine when he interrupted and said the wine has been this price for a long time. My wife said we bought that wine last night and we were charged a different price. This clerk said, "maybe you bought a different bottle." Really, David, don't you think we know what wine we bought? LAST NIGHT? Anyway, he said to talk to the cashiers because that's "their world." So we venture to the register and my wife spoke to Ashely, who was very understanding, said she had to get her manager. Marie came to the register. My wife tried to explain the situation and Marie started arguing with her in front of the now growing line instead of taking to the corner where the managers desk is and calmly talk with us, not AT us. Marie's voice became louder as she explained that the sale card was placed on the display incorrectly. "Customers do that all the time." She said. She was not letting us speak at all and kept interrupting us that is was a wrong sign. She did not listen to the fact that David was the one who was putting the sign on the display. Less the fact was that she clearly does not know the term "false advertisement." I get the fact that David is new and most likely did not know that the sign was wrong, yet should have chosen his words a little better than maybe we got a different bottle. We got talked down to from Marie, with her raised voice kept telling us the sign was wrong and did nothing to rectify the situation. Granted the fact was the amount was only $1.50, which at this point it really doesn't matter, Marie could have acknowledged us and taken care of the mistake as a manager instead of treating us like children and embarrassing us. After Marie was done talking AT us, she grabbed the bottle, that we just bought, again for $10.99, and walked away with it in a huff and it took all three of us, my wife, Ashely and I to get Marie to turn back around and give us our bottle back. I understand from the general manager, Justin that my wife spoke to this morning, Marie has always been a good manager and he has never heard anything bad about her. Justin apologized and said he would fix the situation by refunding us the difference for both bottles. As I said earlier, the price doesn't matter anymore, it's the principle. Maybe she had a bad day or night, heck, we all have. But if you work in the public and you're a manger, the rule of thumb is you leave your problems at the door so you don't ruin someone's night. Now the the most positive aspect of the night, Ashley was THE ONLY PERSON who apologized for everything. Ashley deserves kudos for that. read more

I used to love BevMo, but the truth is it pales in comparison to Total Wine and More. The prices are ok the selection is fine, but the whole store could be organized better. I stopped by last night for some wine and nothing was on sale. When we found a decent bottle for a good price we looked and realized 2 different wines were on the shelf and neither matched the tag. We took the bottles to the front and the attempted to ask the cashier which bottle was the one for that price. He was too caught up in showcasing his knowledge to listen to us or simply tell us which one matched the price. Needless to say, I was rather unimpressed by the service. Honestly, the sales are good, but the regular prices are not as good as many grocery stores and the sales aren't frequent enough for me to depend on it. I went into BevMo to purchase some wine for a graduation party I was having. I figured I was buying to much as I always do; so I asked the clerk about a return policy when I was checking out. I was advised by the clerk that if I had any unused/unopened bottle I could return them within 7 days. So 5 days later I go in to return the 6 unused/unopened bottles of wine and was advised that I cannot return them unless something was wrong with them, but not because I purchased to many. I will not be buying any alcohol from there again. Also I highly recommend if you're buying in large quantities for wedding or other type of events to shop elsewhere! I cancelled my long time membership as they were not willing to make an exception (based on wrong information given by their employee or offer me any other option other than "I'm sorry, it's our policy". I asked him if I could at least get a gift card so I can sell it online. When I asked for the clerks name who I was dealing with, he said Nick; however on the return receipt it says Shawn. I'm not sure any employee there knows how to speak the truth. read more
