The East London line now goes all the way from Highbury and Islington down past Shoreditch High Street, so it is great for getting to Brick Lane. I would say that it is not particularly obvious for first time users which platform you need to go to - you can spot these nervous types hovering around at the top of the stairs pondering which direction to take. Hint: Platforms 1 and 3 go West and 2 and 4 go East, so I just jump on the first train that is arriving. The other thing is that when it rains, parts of the station can turn into lakes, and there isn't much cover from the elements generally. You have been warned! Obviously, despite all this, I still love the place.

The station is fairly large and is one of the few stations on the network to not be "Underground", meaning the waiting area is much nicer and more pleasant than other stations. It is on multiple lines on the Underground - District - Circle - Hammersmith & City It is also on the DLR route with services going towards Stratford and towards Beckton or Woolwich Arsenal in both directions. C2C services on the London, Tilbury & Southend Line also run via this station, so it is served by a good number of services considering it isn't a highly attractive area of London to visit. The station isn't as busy as other nearby stations or the network altogether, with an average 2-3 million commuters passing through the station. Changing lines seemed straight forward and a much nicer process than at more central London stations, meaning I was off the Jubilee line and on my way back to my hotel on the District line in good time. The station didn't appear to be staffed, but as a step-free station, this didn't appear to be a problem. No facilities in the station in terms of places to eat drink or toilets, again this is pretty common and average for an Underground and DLR Station. 3* - Clean station, the decent overall feel and one of the nicer places to change trains if required when going into Stratford.

This tram stop is a great addition to exploring Croydon without having to walk everywhere with your bags of shopping. You can not get to Wimbldon from this stop but take it to East Croydon and switch there. There is no ticket office but you can touch in with your Oyster Card or buy a paper ticket from the machine on the platform.

Well, it turned out that I was completely wrong - this station is absolutely massive, much, much bigger than I have every experienced (in fact it is the biggest station in England). Yeah, so it turned out that I had absolutely no idea where to meet him (though we ended up meeting up anyway). Yeah, this station is nothing short of massive, and it simply took me ages just to locate the tube station so I could get back to my hotel. To a guy from Australia the size of this station is mindboggling.

It's a very…read morebusy station, possibly the busiest, with Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee and Waterloo & City lines meeting here underground, as well as being the terminus for South West Trains. Getting from one to the other involves lots and lots of walking and the signage could use a little improvement. If you do have to connect here, I advice you pack some patience. Lots of it. And maybe a compass. Note: The Bakerloo platform is curved. The carriages are straight. This means there's a gap of as much as six or eight inches between the train and the platform. Mind the gap.

The staff have been helpful when I've accidentally touched in before topping up my Oyster Card. There's also a tiny newsagent selling food, drinks, magazines & newspapers. Beware if it's early morning rush hour you may get a grumpy tube goer who pushes their way through to pay for their newspaper. I've been knocked into several times. The staff here have never been annoyed when I've given them a £20 note first thing in the morning for a bottle of water. There is a free withdrawal cash machine just inside the station. It has on occasion run out of money or £10 notes. There are 4 lifts taking you to & from the platform. The only issue I have with Hampstead Station is that early morning the coal/rubble trains go through so it doesn't have the freshest of air.

A otherwise standard Underground station, Kentish Town is the only High Barnet branch station that has an interchange with National Rail. Nearly completely devoid of advertising, which I found odd. Kentish Town is in Zone 2 and has barricades and Oyster readers.

There are several…read morewaiting rooms as well, to get out of the cold or rain One can access other platforms by going up the stairs and across or through underground pathways at each platform. Harrow on the Hill is a meet point for several branches of the Metropolitan line heading South to London (Uxbridge, Watford, Chesham, Amersham), as well as the Chiltern trains. As such it can be a great meeting place, but it also become a bottle neck during rush hour. There is a bus depot just as you exit the station and the mall is just across the street The station also has a Cafe Nero (no seating area) right by the ticket booth and a Costa Coffee (with seating area) just before you enter the station I gave it only 3 stars as the station tends to be on the dirty side and the waiting rooms often smell like pee
