Unfortunately, the experience became even worse because of the receptionist, Olga. From the start, her tone was rude and dismissive. I am authorized to schedule appointments for my father, and while trying to do so, she repeatedly asked me for insurance codes and terminology I wasn't familiar with. I explained that I had the insurance information and referral, and that most offices simply verify the details themselves. Instead of helping, she continued speaking in insurance jargon and placed me on hold multiple times. At one point, she told me she couldn't access the insurance information herself. Minutes later, she somehow had all of my father's insurance information available through the referral that had already been sent. The entire conversation was unnecessarily confusing and frustrating. She then accused me of being rude. I was not rude--I was direct because I was on a short break at work and simply trying to get an appointment scheduled. There is a difference. What happened next was the most concerning part. After providing my father's information, I was told they would not be scheduling or seeing him because of my alleged behavior toward the receptionist. I was shocked. This is a neurology office where patients often wait months for appointments and are dealing with serious medical issues. Caregivers already have enough on their plates without being treated this way. Before writing this review, I read other reviews and noticed multiple complaints about rude front desk staff. Based on my experience, those concerns appear to be valid. I cannot speak to the quality of the doctor because we were never given the opportunity to become patients. The physician may be excellent, but the front office experience was so unprofessional that my father was effectively denied access before ever being seen. Very disappointing.

I used to run 25 to 30 miles a week and did this for about 8 years. Unknowingly at the time, my lumbar spine and hips took a beating. I received a lumbar spinal fusion in 2001, and had complications (lumbosacral root disorder, hip spine syndrome and arthritis). Those complications led to my falling and sustaining 5 concussions (post concussion syndrome) in the last 2 years, and using a walker and a cane for mobility. Dr. Eric Ericson is my neurologist. I selected him after researching his credentials, which are outstanding. We also share the same alma mater (Go Cats!) so I felt comfortable immediately with him. What I like most about him is he listens and is supportive. The brain MRI results enabled him to create a plan tailored to my needs. With all of the falls, I've developed PTSD and painfully intense hip problems, too. I'm receiving hip injections, physical therapy, and massage and psychological counseling. Some days I want to throw in the towel, but my care team and family have been so supportive that there is no way I could ever let them down. I'm still climbing the mountain to recovery and know it will be strenuous at times, but I'm in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Ericson and his staff because they not only know their stuff, but they really care. Yes, they care.

I typically think one star reviews are a bit…read moresuspicious because you can't tell if somebody is just being immature, but I have a whole lot of context behind this one. Many moons ago I was a client of his practice, before it was more common to choose which places you will choose to patronize out of discernment with research. During visits, Martins did not conduct himself with an appropriate demeanor or attitude, which is even worse when you consider what line of work he is in. Nobody wants to work any more, and he chose to put himself in this very position. The way he carried himself could use more manners and interpersonal people skills, including basic ones such as not talking over others. He also speaks with a shocking amount of logical fallacies, such as strawmanning. I have never met somebody who uses so many of these fallacies, that it felt like he was horseplaying, in a serious environment which was not appropriate. I also agree with the reviewers that the space was crowded, though that is probably not the fault of the individual psychologists, so I won't hold that against them. It costs money to rent out a lot, so I can have empathy for that. He visually lacked concentration, which is also something that is going to be a red flag in this field, for this high stakes of a career. He derailed conversations a lot and came off as disheveled due to it. I don't know if this was his first few years as a practicing psychiatrist, and the idea of allowing a newly certified or graduated psychiatrist practice on a vulnerable demographic such as children rubs me wrong, though I do understand needing to get that first entry-level job. Sadly I think he found that he wasn't so good at it, and it might have been hard to just up and change careers, but I truly wish he has. Honestly, seeing so many other negative reviewers who has experiences similar to mine with him, it sounds harsh but I sometimes hope he's passed away. I've come to realize that what Martins does is a very surface-level "band-aid" approach to dealing with the children. I find this immoral and unethical on many grounds, especially when dealing with children who inherently still have undeveloped brains that are still growing and developing. I'd like to suggest and encourage people who are considering seeking this, or perhaps any, psychologist for their child instead get to the root of the problems that are occurring, as is responsible to do. Some ways I suggest to do this include but are not limited to: showing up for your child emotionally, making sure they are not being raised in emotional neglect which is a form of abuse, maybe if they are a bit older and can comprehend and have some level of self-awareness you can introduce them to shadow work, you can also do shadow work yourself as a parent to ensure they are being raised by a healthy individual or healthy parents and are in a healthy environment, not being bitter or resentful of your children because they are our youth and are inherently pure even if you don't understand how so yet or it doesn't seem like it on surface-level, leading by example and teaching your children empathy through both direct and indirect lifestyle choices i.e. apologizing to your children when you are wrong teaches them to own up to their own mistakes as well and shows them that life allows them to develop and grow into beautiful human beings, reading reviews before deciding on which psychologist you feel comfortable to have care for your child and preferably looking for a human/person-centered or IFS (Internal Family Systems) approach, not being quick to assume the worst of children and instead asking yourself, "if I am assuming the best of them, why might they be doing this" and generally being less impulsive in your approach to correcting them. I really do want to suggest one lady who I think is worth looking into, but I first want to pre-warn you that you may seem some very bad reviews written of her online, but Martins also has a jaw-dropping number of bad reviews as well, so if you are already pursuing Martins, you should use your own mind and critical thinking skills to compare the two and see who you think sounds more professional and holds themselves with more grace and talent. I like Dr. Will a lot however, the office staff regularly (and there is some turnover) disappoints. I've never had a problem with prescriptions over the phone. When I recently went to change a routine birth control pill to another, I was told I had to come in for my annual appt. I mentioned I had everything done externally and that they had the faxed results and that I had likely been in the office 4 times in the previous year for various issues, I was told I had to have an annual neurological and physical in order to have it changed. Mind you I've never had a neurological evaluation there, and quite frankly, she's not a neurologist-she's an osteopath. Yesterday I went in to the pharmacy to pick a prescription that was to have been called in last week. I never got a notification from the pharmacy so I stopped in and they said nothing had been sent to them--this is 5 days later. Additionally, I never got my lab results which were supposed to take a day. Today I asked about a prescription for my thyroid condition, which was -re-discovered at an annual work health fair and they say I have to come in for my lab work. I say "you have the lab work, that's how we know it's high" and they say you have to come in. Mind you I've already had a prescription for this drug and numerous refills previously. As I explained to the nurse, I don't have time to come in to the office every time I need a prescription refill. Additionally, in the past they had a voice mail system that would transfer callers throughout the office before disconnecting them. This went on for months. I'm at the point now that all these inconveniences are no longer worth it. Just time to find a new doc with competent systems and competent office staff. IMO, this is now about generating new revenue with more, and unnecessary appointments.

Dr. Richard Lim is one of the finest Orthopedic Spine Surgeons in the Country, many surgeons did…read morenot want to operate on me because of the complicated nature of my case. I had a giant herniated disk with severe central canal stenosis along with complete effacement of the Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the nerve roots. Redundant nerve roots (RNRs) and the beginnings of Cauda Equina Syndrome and Arachnoiditis. I had terrifying pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg. Sound Complicated? That is because it was and the risk of surgery was high. Dr. Lim took on my case and performed an extremely successful Posterior Spinal Fusion with Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) using a Titanium artificial disk also known as a Intervertebral Cage and a facetectomy on L2/L3 with a very Complex Decompression of Cauda Equina and Bilateral L1/L2 nerve roots and Hip Bone Marrow Aspiration with an Allograft Bone Graft plus 2 Bilateral foraminotomies along with an annulotomy. This was all done using a 3D computer-assisted stereotactic navigation system. I mention all this to demonstrate why even world-renowned Neuro Surgeons declined to take my case. Right after surgery 100 percent of my pre-surgical pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg was gone. 0 stars not available. I could make this a long story but I won't. Here is what you need to know…read more Dr. Lim did what was to be a simple surgery on my lower back. He left pieces inside of me and closed me up. Those pieces dug into my sciatic nerve for 7 1/2 weeks causing the most excruciating pain I have ever had in my life. He ran out of the surgery and jumped in his car so I couldn't ask him why I was in more pain when I woke up than when I went in. Then he wouldn't take any calls from me. Then when I was able to go to his office, he wouldn't come out of the back to talk to me. The front desk said they were told to tell me he was in meetings and was not going to see me. It took the CEO of Midwest Orthopedics to force him to meet with me. The arrogant, pompous ass that he is kept saying nothing was wrong even after new MRI's showed the debris and me screaming in pain. The surgeon from Rush who corrected the botched surgery took photos that he gave to me of what he had to remove that was digging into my sciatic nerve. He said he normally wouldn't do that but that I needed to save these for the attorneys. In all my life I have never met a worse doctor / surgeon. It's bad enough to ruin somebody's back but then to be so arrogant to never admit the mistake and get it fixed. Anybody who would let him cut into you would have to be insane. Find ANYBODY else!
