Dr Alden did a good job with my knee replacement. However, PROBLEM was my rehab went off the rails and he's partially to blame because he did a Manipulation Under Anesthesia without asking any questions why I wasn't progressing fast enough. The therapist (ATI) recommended by Hinsdale Orthopedics was totally incompetent but I was JUST getting my range of motion back and the MUA caused swelling putting me back to square one. Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane. read more

I'm at their office now, my appointment was for 10 am, there was no one else in the waiting room, and it's now 9 minutes to 11 am and no one has even comes in to tell me the Dr. is running late. read more

Dr Kris Alden really took time to explain everything to me and calm my fears of having a left anterior hip replacement. The surgery went very well, and I could not believe how quickly I recovered. I was so surprised I was up shortly after the procedure, with minimal pain. And only needed pain meds for a very short time after that. Now, months later I am back to walking several miles a day, with a smooth and comfortable gait. I didn't think I would ever be able to do that again. And I want to also mention the pleasant office staff, and that the PA Larry Kocen was encouraging, informative and even humorous when it was needed. Great Team. read more

I went to Dr. Kris Alden at Hinsdale Orthopaedics after a year of frustrating care at another orthopedic facility. Immediately I was told my hips were horrible from the X-ray and I needed a hip replacement. They listen to you!! both Dr. Alden and the PA- Larry Kocen were kind caring and take time to explain things and answer all questions. Wonderful!! (Which was not my previous experience elsewhere) I was in for outpatient anterior surgery which had an amazing recovery. Even the home healthcare workers were amazed at Dr. Alden's incision and my recovery as well. I was not on RX Pain Meds after a week and was released to drive at my 2 week check up! My recovery was so quick that people could not believe I even had the surgery done. I am scheduled to have my Left Hip done n August and I am actually looking forward to it. Have to say Larry Kocen, PA was tremendous. I am writing this review based on the experience I had with my 80 year old mother. She had hip replacement surgery in early October 2016. From the initial office consultation, through surgery and into the follow-up visit with the doctor, all of the Hinsdale Orthopedics staff we encountered were terrific. I hesitate to name some of the staff specifically, because they were all professional, helpful and courteous, but I offer 3 in particular. Katie: during the initial office visit in August and the follow up visit in late October, Katie was knowledgeable, caring and patient. She answered all of our questions carefully and made my mom feel like she was a VIP. You can tell when someone takes pride in their work - that's Katie. Judy: working behind the scenes, Judy took care of all of the scheduling details. But more importantly, she took the time to check on progress and results. In the critical week before surgery, she noted that the labs facility (not affiliated with their office) had not followed through on the lab orders correctly. She alerted me so I could get my mom's labs taken care of so we didn't lose the surgery date. Kudos to Judy for great communications and taking the time to care about us. Dr. Alden: doctor made my mom feel at ease with his easy-going manner. Once he established that surgery was the best course of action, he made it clear that the timeline was entirely up to us - absolutely no pressure. He carefully explained her options, fully answered our questions and discussed the expectations of surgery. Interaction at the hospital and follow-up at the office was likewise caring and patient. We have no other experience to compare to. This was the first joint replacement surgery in our immediate family. But without hesitation, we would recommend Dr. Alden and his excellent staff. As I write this, mom is 3 weeks and 3 days post-surgery. For the most part, she has graduated from the walker and is using the cane around the house, becoming more independently mobile every day. Prior to surgery, she had very significant bone-on-bone pain. Her pain is now limited to minor muscle pain as she gets adapted to her new hip and increased mobility. The prognosis is for zero pain in the very near future. Thank you Dr. Alden for giving my mom a new period in her life of increased mobility and much less pain. read more

Dr. Burra is by far the best orthopedic doctor in the area. I've had him repair my ACL and my Labrum and he has done phenomenal work. He has a great network of therapists as well so once you've had surgery you're still going to be in great hands during recovery. read more

Dr Burra did surgery on my daughters labrum tear and she did great. He has an amazing bedside manner and really makes a patient feel comfortable. I have been a patient of Dr Alden since 2013 and he has performed three different knee surgeries. I had a previous knee replacement with another surgeon and three reconstruction surgeries before that. Football is a wonderful game. The first replacement never felt right and after years of living with the pain, I found Dr Alden. At our first visit, he told me not to worry, that he would make me feel better. I have never had any doctor tell me that in any situation. The first replacement by the other surgeon got infected. Dr Alden had to remove the first replacement and found that the infection had destroyed the patella tendon. Without that, you cannot walk. Most surgeons would recommend removal of the leg above the knee. Not Dr Alden. He built a new tendon, put in a new total replacement and now four years later I walk with no pain whatsoever. He also did my other knee a year later with no problems. He is not only a great surgeon, but he can put up with my sense of humor. If you have a knee or hip problem, limp as fast as you can to see him. You will not be disappointed. read more

Dr. Burra performed a very complicated shoulder surgery on my wife last year. He and his staff did excellent work. Throughout the entire process, my wife and I were very happy with the way the doctor and his staff explained everything that was going on in a very simple and understandable way. I was referred to Dr. Alden when I was at a place of severe pain and discomfort in my hips which had been brought on by other medical issues. He fit me in the same day I called, being empathetic to the level of pain I was experiencing. He was patient, knowledgeable, professional, listened to all of my concerns, answered my questions fully and was easy to talk to. Dr. Alden is a soft spoken very compassionate, highly intelligent doctor. It's apparent that He really cares about his patients and is up to date on the latest information and procedures, keeping him at the top of his field. He showed me the x-rays and carefully laid out the need for surgery. He was very articulate and reassuring in explaining the surgery thoroughly and then went above and beyond in accommodating my time restraints into his schedule. After surgery He explained exactly what he had done and what to expect in the days, weeks and months ahead. He also recommended an excellent in home physical therapy company who were as wonderful and caring as his practice. Larry his P.A. was invaluable, informative and encouraging; I always left him with a great sense of peace. Judy, his Administrative Assistant was outstanding and patient in coordinating and navigating all the details to keeps our minds at ease before the surgery. I speak so highly of Dr. Alden and his friendly and helpful staff because unfortunately in my health care treatments, after an accident, they are truly the exception of most Doctor's practices today. Dr. Alden was my second opinion on my hip pain after first being recommended for a procedure to be drilling for decompression of femoral head, and told ultimately down the road I would have to have a hip replacement. My xrays clearly showed bone on bone, so drilling would definitely not have done anything. That first doctor never looked me in the eye while talking, and did not do replacements. Feeling very uncomfortable about this diagnosis, I then went to Dr. Alden and immediately upon my first visit I felt I was in the hands of a truly knowledgeable and caring physician. He spent quality time with me explaining my condition and answered all the questions that I had. I never felt rushed. I also then researched his background which showed high credentials and also a very high standing within my insurance group. Dr. Alden performed my hip replacement perfectly and within 2 weeks I was walking so well that no one could tell that I had a hip replacement!
