Also, it's good to be able to get gear when you need it. While in the store today, I heard the staff joking about flatus of some other customer. The staff concluded the person with flatus had serious health issues. It wasn't I who passed gas, but I was thinking that customer could still be in the store (a 2 story old house). They don't know how much business they just lost by insulting customers. I decided not to buy any gear here. As a spot check, I compared a Camelback that sells here for $150 to online prices. Online it was $90. Again, it is worth supporting local outfitters. In this case, the markups were too high & the service was lacking. I had been in the store for some time without being greeted or offered shopping assistance (came in to look at Hobie catamaran gear & possible gifts for a group of teenagers). The staff took time to discuss flatus, but didn't have time to say hello.

This store had everything I was needing plus knowledgeable staff that were fun to visit with while shopping. The expedition was successful on Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. Staff has always been respectful and quick to offer assistance. Sales and transfers went without hitches. Staff has been especially helpful with gunsmithing projects. They always completed them quickly and satisfactorily. This week, they removed an existing AR barrel and installed a new one I provided in about an hour while I waited. Good communication happened during this as staff working on this had not previously done this with the particular arrangements (standard mil-spec.) on my AR/barrels. His willingness to listen to me prevented unnecessary and parts damaging steps he originally thought had to be done to complete this task. Took the AR to Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex today. It functioned flawlessly, zeroed easily and delivered expected accuracy, hitting 10" steel @ 200 with red dot sight.

My father asked a 60+ year old woman with no makeup and a grown out diver flat top for help She turned her back on him an told me that she was too busy, her male counterpart was at lunch and she was behind in orders because of him. My father was embarrassed and belittled. There is a word for women who behave like that but it isn't used in mixed company outside of a Veterinarians office. As best of all, this woman is a store manager! I hope Grant actually sees this. We took the one suit we had picked out and went to Dillards. From when I was a little boy, Dillards and MM Cohn's were the department stores. Customer service and selection were always top drawer My dress suits came from Bauman's and everything else from those two establishments. After flying 1,200 miles I home I understand that selection will not be what it is in LA, NY or wherever my job sends me around the world. What I will not accept is poor , rude customer service. In this economy, ALIAH (spelling?) should be reminded by her manager that a job is a blessing and a customer with cash In hand is a luxury. So off we went to Dillards where I dropped a hefty sum buying him anything he needed or wanted. He deserves respect as a human being and to be responded to when addressed. It's just good cotillion quality manners. And I happen to love making him happy. So here we are at Dillards and guess what? They didn't have two items in his size. Without asking they sourced it from The Little Rock store and we are on our way to pick them up now. I keep a list of needs and wants and places to go to get them. Academy is no longer on that list. Go to Dillards. The prices are pretty competitive and they will treat you like a welcome customer for years. I know because I am one.

A 50% off on Columbia and I believe it was 20% on the other brand. I was directed to where the youth gloves were and they had them all separated by brand (north face, Columbia, etc) and how warm you needed them to be. I purchased a pair of gloves and found out when I got home they were too big. In the warmer gloves, there wasn't a huge selection of sizes. So I returned them to the store. They really didn't have what I was looking for (because of her size). I didn't really want the mittens but the gloves with the fingers. It's a small store and it looked like it had a good selection of different things but again I was only looking for gloves. Since I didn't see anything I was going to return the gloves for a refund but the lady at the counter told me to just try the mittens because there really aren't gloves my daughters size with the individual fingers and if I saw some somewhere else I could always return them. She wanted me to at least have something for hands rather nothing. So I went ahead and exchanged them but realized that in doing so I changed the brands of gloves I was exchanging for. Instead of charging me the difference for the gloves, she made it an even exchange which I thought was really nice of her. So although these gloves were not at the same sale price, I got them for the same price as the Columbia gloves that were 50% off. I would definitely return to shop because i really liked the service.

The reason for the low stars? Who the heck in there right mind designed the inside layout of this place?
