Firstly, this is quality gear. If you live in the state, I think you should support local stores that carry equipment like this, or you would have to order it online blindly. Also, it's good to be able to get gear when you need it. While in the store today, I heard the staff joking about flatus of some other customer. The staff concluded the person with flatus had serious health issues. It wasn't I who passed gas, but I was thinking that customer could still be in the store (a 2 story old house). They don't know how much business they just lost by insulting customers. I decided not to buy any gear here. As a spot check, I compared a Camelback that sells here for $150 to online prices. Online it was $90. Again, it is worth supporting local outfitters. In this case, the markups were too high & the service was lacking. I had been in the store for some time without being greeted or offered shopping assistance (came in to look at Hobie catamaran gear & possible gifts for a group of teenagers). In preparing for a climbing expedition in Ecuador some items I had ordered online well in advance didn't arrive due to covid-related supply chain issues. I'm new to Little Rock and stopped by several local "outdoor stores" with no luck because they essentially only sell clothing. Luckily I found "Ozark Outdoor Supply" that actually stocks "gear." This store had everything I was needing plus knowledgeable staff that were fun to visit with while shopping. The expedition was successful on Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. I thank Ozark Outdoor for their help. I look forward to going back and getting the scoop on the local outdoor scene. read more

I saw on Facebook that Ozark Outdoor Supply was having a sale today. I've been considering getting into hiking so I stopped in to look at backpacks. I walked in the door an a smiling female employee greeted me and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. She was wearing a backpack so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to get some help and good advice. I told her I was looking for a backpack. She smiled some more, giggled, and said, "Me too!". Then proceeded to walk away and leave me on my own. She went behind the counter while two other employees critiqued the look and fit of the backpack she had on. These employees were not at all concerned about serving customers and I didn't see any backpacks inside so I went outside. No thanks to any employee, I happened to see sale items and backpacks on display outside the store. I'm looking over a long display of numerous backpacks and the smiling employee who greeted me inside was now outside. Apparently the backpack the employee tried on herself did not meet the approval of the two employee review team inside. She smiled at me, excused herself, and said, "This one didn't work so I'm putting it here." She left me and went inside. I presume she had more shopping to do while on the clock. I figured I would give Ozark Outdoor Supply one more chance. There was an older man standing behind the cash register that was setup outside and conveniently located near the backpacks. I assume he was a manager or even an owner based on his position and they way employees had come to him with questions and the directions he was giving employees. I inquired with him about the proper fit of a backpack and he proceeded to tell me the science and measurement of "torso length" and how some backpacks aren't sized according to torso length. After providing this information he turned his back to me and left me on my own. I stood there alone for a moment before walking away. Often potential customers, especially novices in a given activity, feel intimidated for various reasons when going into a specialty store. I can see why. I am not knowledgeable in selecting a specialty backpack off the shelf or online so I made an attempt to shop local and keep my money in my hometown but Ozark Outdoor Supply wasn't interested. I came in with my boyfriend from Dallas, hoping that Little Rock had some better hiking supply stores then back home. We were both very pleasantly greeted and taken care of by everyone in the store. The woman assisting us was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and helpful in deciding which brand and style of shoe we both needed based on our long hike we're going to be taking in Crested Butte, CO. We cannot recommend this store enough and cannot wait to come back to Little Rock just to shop around here again! read more

I called into the store wanting to make a purchase but also to offer services. I spoke with a female sales rep, asked a couple of questions, and asked to speak with someone that could help me I was hung up on abruptly. Poor customer service, let's just say that after speaking with her my need to purchase anything from this store was abolished. read more

One of the few (or maybe only) store that carries equipment that you find at REI. They carry a lot of specialized equipment that has a different focus than other camping stores in the area (i.e., this store has no hunting gear). They carry treking poles, portable stoves, compression sacks, tents, etc. Lots of different brands that is made light weight and functional. IIRC, they also have mountain climbing equipment, very similar to REI that you see in california. The sales people are courteous and knowledgeable. Really recommend this if you're looking for specialized outdoor equipment for outdoor activities. read more

I've been shopping here for over a decade, and have always considered it the "real outdoorsman" option in town. Great selection, staff tends to be knowledgeable. Easy parking. Cool raw wood look to the place too. I'll be going here as long as they'll let me. read more

They have a great selection of climbing gear. Their outdoor gear selection is better than any large chain sports store even though they are the size of a small house. read more

Wow, what an arrogant bunch of people. Would not speak to me. Apparently they have confused there business with an elite club. Please spend your money at Gear Head or Gene lockwoods. I go to ozark outdoor every year to get some flip flops and outdoor shoes for the summer. I guess a few hundred dollars is not worth their time. read more

These folks went to extraordinary difficulty to rustle up the hardware necessary to adapt an obsolete cargo basket to an up-to-date set of roof racks I bought from them. The store owner then went to the trouble to install the basket for me. I really was impressed by his gesture. read more

This place is a treasure! My friend and I arrived in town with a week to spend in the Ozarks but no plan for what to do or where to go. We showed up at the welcoming door of Ozark Outdoor Supply, and the friendly and knowledgeable people working set us up with a new backpack, a compass, gas canisters, maps, and some other supplies. Even better, then they opened up those maps with us and regaled us with stories of their own trips and great places to check out. In an hour there, they helped us plan out our week -- and their advice led us to an incredible week backpacking through some beautiful and less-traveled spots. From the backpack fit to the personal experiences, it's the kind of thing you can't get buying gear online, and it made me so happy to have found them. Oh, and on our way back to the airport, they let us drop off our used gas canisters too. read more

i shop here a lot. i disagree with the previous post that people wouldnt talk to them. i find its just the opposite there - seems like theres always 5 people trying to help you. i give 3 stars today because they had not a single mens trail shoe smaller than a 9... they have a lot of shoes you'd think they'd have at least one 8 or 8.5. prices are usually MAP but they tend to have reasonably good late summer and winter sales. i wish they had mountain biking stuff and more mens wear but its a good shop and nice people. read more
