I tagged along as moral support for a friend to get her tattoo. I have never been to Beyond Ink but I follow them on instagram and have quite a few friends who have been and speak highly of Ruben. If you are looking for a tattoo and no conversation, this is your place! It worked well for my friend and she didn't want to look towards him or see the job being done. However, if you enjoy the banter between artist and client while you're getting a tattoo, I suggest to go elsewhere as both artists I observed are pretty reserved. The shop itself was pretty bland and could use a little updating. But, the tools and equipment were clean and that's what really matters! Ruben did a great job with the tattoo as it was extremely fine lined and on the wrist area. So 5/5 stars for his skills! read more

If I could give them over 5 stars they deserve it. I worked with Ruben and he was able to transform my 23 year old dated tattoo into a masterpiece. This was beyond my expectations. I was very picky about it and nervous. The original was from 1999 for the time it was great but it was time to enhance it. I definitely picked a great shop with skilled artists. Thanks so much for bringing this piece back to life. A week prior I had gone in for a consultation and piercing. Baltazar had done my piercings. He was very thorough. We found that my Tragus was not done correctly (different shop) nor were we provided with after care instructions. It ended up at almost a 45 degree angle which caused the earring to be much to large. Between those two things it was nasty. He took a ton of time to clean it up so it could be removed. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive for me but I will not going anywhere else. read more

I'm only reviewing what I observed. I was there for my friend trying to get her nose re-pierced. We called earlier in the day to ask if we needed to make an appointment and they said "no just come in we have someone here" we get there and they said the person who does piercings has not come in yet and to come back later. We went back later in the day and we were told "wait for 20 min and you'll be next" we waited well over 20 minutes and noticed people walking in and getting piercings even though we had been waiting. I asked one of the girls getting her piercing if she made an appointment and said no. The customer service was awful, rude employees and the place was disgusting. If you are looking for quality work, Beyond Inc. is highly recommended. So far I've been there 3 different times for 3 different pieces. My first two encounters were absolutely amazing. Great line work, customer service, and communication which of course made me want to come back for more. Dario and Sarah (sadly no longer there) are amazing in their craft. My last encounter left much to be desired. My last session was with Ruben. Simple flash tattoo that I saw, figured "eh why not" !? I'm usually not spontaneous when it comes to tattoos but figured WTH. On the day of my appointment I walked in and was greeted by the receptionist, mentioned I had an appt w/Ruben. He's a master at his craft and I was really excited and looking forward to getting my next piece w/him. All of a sudden Ruben starts speaking to the receptionist in Spanish asking her what I wanted and what I was looking for and if there was a problem (bc I had question about another possible tattoo as well. I was just so excited and I wanted more than 1 lol). I turned around and I answered him in Spanish because well, I'm very fluent in Spanish even though I don't look such (I'm PR). I can definitely hold my own very well. There was no hello, no "thank you" no communication whatsoever. I don't mind having artists that don't like to chit chat bc I'm not paying for your conversation but conyo at least be courteous and don't talk at your clients, talk TO them. He made me feel as if I was wasting his time and taking away from his time from sitting on the couch and playing on the iPad, which was exactly what he was doing when I walked in. So bottom line.. yes, this shop is full of great artists but some personalities are left to be desired. Will I return? Absolutely, but I'll stick to who I know and like. read more

The staff that work here are extremely friendly and talented. While I've only been tattooed by Dario, the work i've seen from each artist is amazing. The piercing apprentice that works at the counter is so sweet and very comforting while getting both tattooed and pierced. Furthermore, Dario is extremely hard working and trustworthy, every tattoos he's done of mine(7) and my 4 friends I have brought, was even better than expected. I got a small minimalistic tattoo here this week from Ruben and I was very disappointed. The design was simple and comprised of only a few small straight lines and yet one of the lines came out extremely crooked. The whole process seemed incredibly rushed and I actually watched him deviate from the purple stencil. The tattoo is still cute, but it definitely showed a lack of precision and care from the artist. I do understand the risks of tattoos and know that sometimes the design does not come out perfectly, but this tattoo was not complex (it was basically a small square) and the job of the artist is to replicate the design with precision. I wish I had gone somewhere else for this and it will probably be the before picture of a cover-up in the future. read more

No I don't recommend this place for piercings, let alone a tattoo When I went there license was hanging on the wall, expired. I only let him (the owner) pierce me Because i knew it was up to basic sanitation standards, but just barely my friends If this is your first time getting a piercing: do not go here. They don't explain what's going on at any point and after you're pierced and leaving you're supposed to take a picture on directions of how to properly treat the wound... Not technically legal either so. I did it because I knew it was clean and when I called him out on a few things he was doing wrong &/or illegal he was aware thanked me and gave me a discount so, not a lot of hope for improvement from this owner. read more

I used to come here for Tim who was amazing. Since he left the place has gone downhill. I was tattooed by James & had a subpar experience. The coloring in my tattoo didn't hold like it should, and he's heavy handed. The worst was that he took multiple smoke breaks which turned what should have been a 2 hour tattoo, into a 4.5 hour tattoo. There was no hand washing either. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

My mom and I walked in for nose piercings. We were helped by James. He was extremely nice and helpful. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job with our piercings. Years ago I had taken my tongue piecing out and wanted it re-pierced. I was told by a different piercer at another shop that he wasn't comfortable re-piercing it because of my veins. James took one look at my tongue and said there would be absolutely no problem doing it! So I happily got a second piercing today. The prices are great, and the work is amazing. I have seen it literally packed with people and every artist working on someones tattoos. For the best experience, come in and meet everyone, and give them an idea. Emailed a Very detailed description of the tattoos we wanted including pictures and a written description of ink color, placement etc. and was very specific. We had originally wanted a different artist but was told James was one of the best and had an opening. So we figured no problem. He was friendly and all but I don't think he even read our email. Did not have the colors we wanted and were told he could make the one a bit darker but didn't have the time to be mixing ink...we had an appointment, how do you not have time? We were told the placement we wanted we wouldn't be happy with so that got changed as well. We were also quoted 70 each and it ended up being 80 each no really a big deal except he tried to convince us not to fill in as well but we stood firm on that, we should have stood firm on all of it. What was the problem if we gave such a detailed description of what We wanted in actually giving us what we asked for instead of what you thought was best! We were so excited to finally get our family tattoo but with where its placed I can't even see it without bending my arm up and again it's not what we had said we wanted, what we put thought into. read more
