They got me in and had my new stereo installed quickly to get me back on the road. However, they took the time to test all of the functions to make sure my 2018 Jeep Compass still had steering wheel functions, a working backup camera, etc. Then I was helped in setting up options and syncing my phone. Ok one would think at first glance that this place does Car Stereo and Tinting only. One day when I was driving by I noticed some people were detailing a limo so I pulled in and asked if they detail cars. They said yes so I went in and booked an appointment. In went back for my appointment and when I came back to pick up my car I couldn't believe that they actually got out some things I thought would never come off. Wow I was blown away. Craig, the owner, was beyond helpful through each stage of my sounds installation. Now there are many reputable sounds shops in and around town, but here's what sets BEYOND LIMITS apart from the pack. Sound system creation process: I shopped around, and none of the other shops were particularly responsive via email. All except Craig, insisted, and I mean insisted that I come down to the shop. Unfortunately, I am a busy business owners myself and cannot spare the hour or two necessary to comply. Beyond limits was the only shop that responded via email and constructed a system to my specifications. Bottom line, Craig was responsive to the individual request of his potential client; that is a rare and highly valued trait in any business. When I was able to schedule an appointment to listen to the system (before the install), everything was exactly how I wanted. He then recommended another option for my subwoofer and after listening and comparing myself, I was sold. The process was quick, easy, and far superior to the format other shops insisted upon where I show up on their terms, just so they can sell me on their products and lock in my business on the spot. Craig was a smooth, no pressure type of guy, that was more concerned about building the perfect system, rather than locking in a client. Installation: The instalation was clean and well done. There were no extra cable clippings anywhere and the wiring was hidden perfectly. The sound quality was great and exactly what I expected Warranty and work guarantee: Randomly, a peice of my old speaker cone was caught in the rear deck lid. During certain sound frequencies, you could hear a rattle. This was an issue pre-dating Craig's install and something I was stoked to discover. Maybe two weeks after the install, Craig and his assistant Brandon took my rear deck lid apart and found that the speaker was fine, but the rattling was from the stock speaker cone that was blown and trapped between a gap on the deck lid. They were pretty keen to discover that peice (picture attached) and I was again stoked that his team took the time to trouble shoot the problem. Many companies SAY they guarantee their works, but Beyond Limits PROVED it. Going above and beyond what's required: I was shocked that Beyond Limits was cool with cutting out circles in my aftermarket carpet dashboard cover so that the tweeters could scream unimpeded (picture attached). I was also surprised at the care they took to clean off the finger prints in the corner of my rear window. Their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I'll certainly be back to Beyond Limits for any future sound system, BAC interlock, or car detailing work and I fully endorse any yelper to do the same. read more

Initially I went to Car Audio Tech on ward since all my friends go there, but sadly to say he is closing his business. The owner actually told me to try check out Beyond limits in kaimuki. I called and asked if they had any open slots the next day which was first thing in the morning 9am. I wanted my old amp and sub installed to connect with the stock radio and be able to control the bass with a simple knob. During the installation they asked me if I wanted to drill a hole for the knob (at least they asked me before actually drilling into something ) I told them to use double stick tape. They just warned me it will fall off over time, I'm okay with that haha I just didn't want a hole. Picked up the car, and it's just what I wanted! installed with a simple knob! They did tell me they had a problem, but it was something simple and explained what happened and so on. The day before I had washed and waxed my car... and left almost nothing in the car, so I gave them a clean car and I got back a clean car. Nice! No left over wire clips anywhere and finger prints etc. Guys named that helped me was Craig. Friendly, clean job, and satisfied. Now if I ever want to upgrade my music I'll be coming back! read more

I've been coming to this shop since they have opened on Campbell Ave. This is the only place that I would take any of my cars to. I needed new tint on my car. I came in and was able to get an appointment very quickly. My VW GTI has a tricky back window to tint but it was no problem for these professionals. The tint came out beautifully and made the car so much cooler as well as protecting the interior from the sun. Not only did they clean and shine the exterior, but they restored the headlights to make them clear again, cleaned the engine, steamed the seatbelts, cleaned the carpets and made the interior surfaces shine. In my last review, i mentioned that i would be coming back to purchase car speakers...well i did and decided to go with Alpine. Craig was kind enough to give me a good deal, there was a promo running for buy 1 get 1 at 50% off through Alpine so i pulled the trigger. Equipment wise, no complaints. Installation...well, this is where i was very dissapointed. Not only did it take more than 5 hours to install the sound system but it was done very sloppy. I blame it more on the installer, The kid looks like he doesnt know what he was doing...this kid kinda heavy around 18 yrs old (he's the only kid down there) i suggest you request a different guy that would install stuff for you. I recommend Bryan but he was off that day (unfortunately). This kid broke my panels while wiring the speakers (minor) but i drive a Mercedes so i am very meticulous. He left dirty fingerprints on my interior which was noticeable since i had a beige interior. He didnt even bother to wipe or clean his mess......what can i say? typical kid. He must understand this is his work...it looked more like play to me. Anyway, i drove off to work and on my break i inspected the job done and noticed that the tweeter speakers were not "centered" like really way off...The speaker housing were crooked and was not fitted. The speakers were too big? They should know....in the first place if it would fit. I had to come back the next day and they"adjusted" it. I was very dissapointed since i had really high expectations from them as a returning customer and spending even more! They should get a quality worker...not some kid who doesnt know what he's doing. I know I've written a review for this place the last time I came here with my car but that was 3 years ago. This time around I brought my fiancé's car in. The audio in his car has been out for a very long time so for his anniversary gift I wanted to surprise him by fixing it! So I knew I had to bring his Jeep Wrangler to the same spot that fixed my car. I took it in without an appointment but that didnt matter. Although the place was busy and had things going on, they managed to squeeze me in. They figured out what caused the sound to go out really fast, disassembled parts of the speakers and all and were right about it. I opted to get just the dash fixed because I was short on cash but when the owner heard he helped me out a bit and I was able to get new speakers in as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH! They have me many options and choices. I love choices! :) After an hour and a half of waiting (did I mention, there's a sofa to sit at now?!) and meeting his wonderful wife, the car was done and was sounding amazing! I brought it home to the hunny, and he loves it! He loves the new blueTooth technology in the car and the sound. I flirted with the idea of upgrading my car's sound system since my early college days, and finally saved enough to make this become a reality. Talk about customer service, Professionalism. These guys are the best. They offer video monitors, overhead monitors, headrest monitors, in-dash monitors, and complete custom video set ups. If you want to update to current technology, car audio, video, GPS navigation, and car satellite audio, rear-view video cameras, radar parking sensors, and remote starting systems. To protect everything once it's been installed, you can find a great deal on a quality security system or basic car alarms. I had them install the Clifford Alarm with remote start along with the iPhone App to arm/disarm/start my 2011 Armada. After visiting Beyond Limits once, I returned to have a new Sony "mech-less deck" deck installed in my Ford Focus ZX5. My car has a factory subwoofer. Its actually a good sub, adding a lot of presence while not taking up valuable space at the back of the hatchback. The key criteria for the installation was to retain the use of the factory sub, and Craig made sure that it worked. And, this Sony deck, the DSX-S310BTX is amazing! There are no moving parts (its mechanism-less), and it gives you so many options to get music into the deck, its astounding. iPhone integration (including Bluetooth) is fantastic, and so is the quality of the sound. I learned a lot about modern decks from Craig. Hes got a great product line, a great attitude, and employees that are good at what they do. If youre looking to upgrade your sounds, take a drive to Kapahulu-- its not out of the way, its Beyond Limits! read more

I have been looking to put in a full sound system in my Maxima for about 6months. I looked around all over from Pearl city to Honolulu. I happen to come across these guys on Yelp and saw it was close by to my house. I told Craig what kind of price range I was looking to stay in. He was so helpful to negotiate prices to come up with something just right. I mean a full "Alpine" system for under $1000. That's a deal. All the other places were gonna mix n match brands and generic brands. So to find out I would be decked out in all Alpine was a treat! He was very professional and nice. I had a battery issue and after replacing there was an error showing on the radio screen so I returned to see if they could fix it. After reading all the reviews about this place I decided to have them install my tint, sounds, and backup camera on my car. At first I was impressed by the way that the staff worked with me to select what tint to use and what would work best for installing a new deck. I had spaced out the installation of everything because of my work schedule and they were very accommodating. The first thing they did was my tint. It took almost an entire day and at first I was satisfied and content until I noticed that they had to put two pieces on my back window and that it had a big air pocket and two fold marks right in the middle of the window. I took it back and they said that they would fix it later when they install my stereo. I thought that would be fine. A week later I went back and gave them my car again for a full installation of everything. It took them another full day and they said that I would have to come back another day to fix the back window tint. As I drove around that weekend, I noticed that my car no longer had any low end sounds (no bass). The mids and highs were solid but without the bass it sucked! I had a decent stock stereo sound system and this was a downgrade. Not to mention, they told me that the new stereo would provide me with better sound quality than the stock system. I was totally disappointed. After talking to the owner, he apologized and said that he wasn't aware that the stock sub wouldn't work with the after market deck and that I would have to purchase an additional amp to power the sub. If I had known that this would happen I would NOT have purchased the aftermarket stereo system. As it was, he agreed to help me out if I purchased the amp and he wouldn't charge me for labor to install it. After another eight hours, the sound system was working as it should. He also replaced the tint on the back window, still in two pieces. It doesn't have folds or air bubbles, but the two pieces don't line up right. All in all, I thought I was saving money and dealing with professionals but in hindsight I regret having them work on my car. The owner, Craig, is a nice guy, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more
