I paid $1,600 to a dealership to fix the multi-purpose camera. 5 days later, my car wouldn't start so had it jumped. When that happened, the diagnostic self-test mode appeared on the screen and wouldn't go away. I didn't know if that problem was related to the one I just got fixed so I took it back to the dealership. I was told it was a different problem and I'd have to pay another $1,300 to replace the radio. I was referred to Car Audio by the service writer (who has always been helpful) because they weren't able to hard set the screen stuck in the in-line diagnostic/self-test mode. The Car Audio guy looked at the screen and said he could take out the radio and see if it could be re-set. He quoted a reasonable amount for this diagnostic but told me if it couldn't be re-set, I'd probably have to change the radio. A second guy came to the car to see what was going on and assisted in troubleshooting the problem. Within 5 minutes, they resolved the issue! On top of that, the guy who was helping me (sorry, didn't get your name), said that I didn't need to pay. It was fast service but I think to fast. They installed a new radio in my car and everything else works fine. The only issue I have is the call button on my steering wheel. It doesn't function so when I asked them to take a look at it, they told me I didn't need that button. They told me I could press call on the new radio if I wanted to answer calls. They also told me I will have to replace the steering wheel to have the button work. I didn't know what to say honestly, so I just left but I paid a lot of money for this radio. Instead of looking and seeing what the issue is they told me I don't need to use it anyways. How lazy on them to not look, once I paid them that was their attitude. Now I have to take it to a mechanic to look at it. Poor service and not helpful! read more

Very friendly staff, but unable to competently install or diagnose what they sell. There were logic errors with the alarm which they fixed for free. Twice after that the alarm left me stranded in Honolulu requiring a costly Uber to bring up more keys Back up camera is intermittent, often giving me just a black screen, defeating the purpose of paying for this stuff in the first place. CarPlay has never reliably worked, despite bringing the vehicle back several times. The final time I was left with missing dash screws and a broken USB panel. If someone has a recommended place that can fix their work, please let me know, I would love for this to do what it is supposed to. read more

Wow I'm super stoked on my experience at Car Audio & Security Specialists today! Last week I did a Yelp search for Car Audio installation and I got five hits right away. The quotes ranged between $280.-$500! (A moble Service quoted me $700!) My simple Amazon.com system cost me no more than $130 for everything so $500 to install it was out of the question! All of the owners asked my budget but Ata the owner of Car Audio Security Specialists was the only one who really worked with me to keep my install as close to my original budget. Ata and all of his staff were cool and friendly and didn't make me feel like a sucker when I walked in asking basic questions and then over quoting me like another shop did in Kalihi. They never made me feel uncomfortable about my cheap Amazon.com system or try to up-sale me their better stuff! I really appreciated that!
