I would say they're 2 stars because I've always come here for pedicures because they do them so well and the staff is nice but I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with how they do nails. Drove across town because of the reviews and the pics. I have been wanting a set of almond shaped nails for a while and felt like this might be the place. I walked in and was asked what I was in for, immediately sat down in a chair, and the mother of the mother and daughter pair, set to work. There wasn't much conversation, but thankfully, the sound of a radio and a customer's phone conversation broke the silence. It took about 45-60 minutes, start to finish, but I am very happy with my nails. Full set, polished, almond shaped, nails cost me $45 ($50 w/tip). The shop is one of the cleanest I have seen in town, the conversation could've been helped, but thinking I need to become a regular for that. I used to love this place, but it's under new management and Paulina and her mom aren't there anymore. It's an ok place, but I certainly can't call it my "go-to" place anymore. ********************* I've been looking for a "go-to" nail salon in Tucson for a while. There are a few good ones around, but they're busy and so you run the risk of being rushed through your manicure. Beyond Nails, however, was almost perfect. I got a gel manicure, and it was the best I've had in a long time. Paulina did my nails, and she is a perfectionist. I normally have to file a rough edge or adjust the shape of a nail or two once I get home, but I didn't have to do any of that with her. And the gel wasn't thick, so a week after my manicure, my nails still look good. I would have liked the hand/arm massage like you get at most places, and they cost a few dollars more than other salons, but I will still go back and have Paulina do my nails again and again. read more

First off I would state prior to coming here I never would have went to a nail salon. My wife had asked me to join her on a day date and my mind was blown. I work a very manual intensive job and never realized how much better I feel after a visit and a pedi. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable and made me comfortable for being so unfamiliar with the process. I highly recommend visiting just be cautious as there is one individual (young man) whom seems to be angry all the time and sometimes will go too deep when cutting nails. I have to admit my only complaint about this place is the owner Lisa. My niece and I went to get our nails done on June 5 and Lisa has done her nails before with no problem. Now that they re-opened after the Quarantine we both decided to go back to get our nails done. Lisa worked on my niece's nails and her work this time around was really inconsistent, the left-hand look completely different from the right one. The nails on the left hand appeared to be a really wide and flat. The nails on the right hand had a better shape. My niece was very polite about the situation and asked Lisa to shape the left hand. I understand that there is a bit of a language barrier but I have to admit my niece was very polite and patient during this time. My niece tried to explain that she just wanted them shaped the same but Lisa seemed to have been annoyed by this request and she continuously told my niece how her nail is the problem and it's not Lisa's work. This continued for about 30 minutes. Lisa even said that my niece's nail WIDENED during the time she went without nails. Lisa was completely rude, I don't understand how my niece maintained her patience with her to be quite honest. Within the 30 minutes my niece was basically scolded by the owner and told to go somewhere else and that she would never do her nails again. I don't understand the behavior , the attitude was definitely not warranted because my niece was really nice about situation and her request. I understand that people have different experiences at this location. This was just my experience and I want others to know so that they aren't mistreated by the owner. If you consider coming to this location I would only suggest Michael. He seems to do the best work. read more

Found this place on Yelp while traveling for work. Originally I went in wanting acrylics- I have really long natural nails but had just broken 2 and I've had a few bad experiences with gel polish destroying my nails by other salons hastily removing the polish and damaging my nails. The woman doing my nails advised me to do gels and to add a couple acrylics to even out my length. I happily obliged and in all fairness my nails look fantastic. The reason for 3 stars is I feel like I was completely overcharged. My total for a gel mani on natural nails with 3 acrylics was $62!!!! I honestly don't know why I didn't ask more questions about the price, I don't think I've ever paid more than $40 for a top of the line mani. Has anyone else been charged this much? read more

I went in Saturday morning and it was very busy. They didn't make me wait long. The lady who did my pedicure was very nice and did a really good job. Lisa did my nails and she did a really nice job adhering to what I wanted. The reason why I'm only giving them 1 star is because although my nails come out really nice, lisa was extremely rude. She kept scolding me throughout the whole nail session and seemed to be in a hurry. I understand it's a business and she wants to service her other clients, but sitting down with her was very unpleasant. She kept telling me to get off my phone which i totally understand but I looking for a photo to show her for my nails. I then proceeded to listen to music in my airpods and she kept telling me to get off my phone. All I was doing was listening to music..... No one ever scolds me like that. She was beyond disrespectful and to find out that she's the owner makes me me feel very uncomfortable. I also felt very uncomfortable when paying because my card declined at first and she was getting very frustrated with me, rushing me to pay. This is the only nail salon i go to because they do a nice job for the price, but i won't ever go back because Lisa doesn't know how to treat her customers. I would rate this place 0 stars if I could, but my nails don't look bad. I'm a business owner myself and I can't believe this is the attitude of the owner. I'm getting it a 4 because this is my 1st time getting my fills done and can't yet judge the work. I had called last minute on a Saturday to ask about the waiting time, she said to come in because they were not busy. I live 3 minutes away so when I came, there was a seat available for me. Within 5 minutes there, more people started showing up. This was around 1130am on a Saturday. The man who took care of me was quit which was fine because I brought my 2 year old son with me and I was trying to keep him entertained and the nail tech was understanding. So as a nail biter, I've always been manhandled by nail techs with their drills, and pressure. A typical session at a nail salon for me is coming out with throbbing fingers for days. Not here! Omg, my nail tech was concerned with a pinky, as was I, but my fingers came out on the first trip looking and feeling like a million bucks! I've been back 3 times, and headed to my 4th session soon! I can not stress this enough. My mother, my aunt, and I were in tears. They were too harsh on our nails. My ring finger is sore and practically raw because she filed it down too much and it hurt like a freaking ***** and I don't cuss but it was too much. I even said ow you're hurting me. Now that finger hurts. I kid you not she filed that nail to nothing. I even bled and she left the acrylic crap on my skin which took forever to get off and gel nail polish too! The other lady was clipping my moms nails too harsh getting her skin each time. The lady doing my aunt did the same thing to me and put the wrong glitter on her (she got it fixed when that lady rushed out to leave). We all were in tears and we gave no tip which we usually do but we will NEVER BE BACK and we suggest you never go there again or even if it'll be your first time! Was lucky enough to visit Beyond Nails on its second day in business. This place is top notch. The owners are a mother/daughter team and they could not have been any sweeter or attentive. I've been coming here 7 months now and they seem to be getting progressively lazier. The first time they did an amazing job. But these recent months they apply the acrylic lumpy and very uneven, don't completely paint the entire nail and are very rough. Ive gotten a few cuts and rips.
