This is a great Beyond Pilates studio. Truthfully, it's not my favorite only because there's no parking lot at this location, so be wary of the street parking - but I still am glad I tried it. Lots of bright light and a very spacious studio. The instructor, Anastasia, also did a great job giving clear cues and explaining the movements. If parking wasn't $10/hr, I would be coming back here way more often. read more

I visited Beyond Pilates while I was in San Diego and signed up for an intro class. Booking through the website was easy, though the class was a bit on the pricier side, I paid $35, whereas I typically pay around $20-$28 per class in LA and San Diego. When I arrived, there wasn't much of a greeting or clear check-in process. The instructor seemed busy, so I ended up putting my things away before even checking in, which felt a little awkward. The studio has a wide variety of equipment, which is great, but there was a lot going on visually. Equipment and bins were spread throughout the space, making it slightly difficult to move between machines. I appreciate the variety, but better organization would really improve the flow of the room. The class itself was unique, with a mix of ages and genders, which I liked. The instructor was kind, asked about experience levels, and offered helpful modifications to either intensify or simplify movements. That said, there were moments where direction wasn't super clear, and some people (myself included) got a bit lost. The pillars in the middle of the room also made it hard at times to see demonstrations. Cleanliness was okay... the equipment didn't look dirty, but it didn't feel particularly clean either. For example, around the weight-changing areas, there was visible dust, hair, and debris. The area for shoes and bags also had a slight odor. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. The instructor and workout itself were good, but the small details (organization, cleanliness, and overall flow) made a difference. I'd probably try other studios before returning, but I wouldn't completely rule it out. read more

Andrew's classes are always so amazing! I love sweating because it tells me I'm pushing myself ~ and I sweat a lot today! This journey with Andrew began in January and it is seriously the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm so much stronger and flexible and in tune with my body than I have been in years. Andrew is the reason I love Pilates ~ so much and meet him at 5 or 6 am and then stay two hours because one hour just isn't quite enough anymore. He is the best at explaining every move and he has his eye on all of us so he can race over and help us perfect our form. Even without the Pilates ~ being around Andrew's energy is good for your soul and a great way to start the day. Combine Andrew with Pilates and you have a powerful combination that sets you up for being happy all day! To anyone that has not worked out in a while ~ Andrew is your guy. I was a hot mess in January and 8 months later the things I can do with my body would shock me in January ~ and it's all thanks to Andrew. To anyone that is a workout fanatic ~ Andrew is your guy. Pilates is challenging and it never ends, there will always be more challenges. More guys need to give this a try. If you are injured ~ Andrew is your guy. I had a knee injury and I could not kneel on my right knee when I began so we did adjustments. I can now kneel on both knees. Everyone loves Andrew. Love love loved my experience here! Anastasiia's Pilates class was amazing! She's so friendly and welcoming, and her peaceful energy really sets the tone. The instructions are super clear, so it's easy to follow along, even if you're newer to Pilates. She's also really attentive and helpful, always making sure you're doing things safely and correctly. The class itself is relaxing but still a really good workout -- I always leave feeling strong, stretched, and refreshed. Highly recommend her as an instructor and this location for a great workout. I had a lot of respect for Beyond Pilates when their downtown classes were mainly at K St. and Kensington. Shout out to Dana. They are expanding and have expanded to the State & G location. Unfortunately they've lost their magic. The bad: The instructors no longer instruct- on form, posture, stance, overall poise. A lot of newer and younger instructors with limited experience. Instructors call out and you end up with a different instructor day of (happens a lot). The good: They have good instructors. I've taken them before. They are however, few and fleeing. The studio is beautiful as is the space. The machines are new with a lot of opportunities for various exercises off and on the reformer. Clear and concise instructions of technique are crucial for proper Pilates exercise as well as injury prevention. I must argue that the lack of hands-on instruction and form correction is making Beyond Pilates into a Pilates studio that's much further away from the fundamentals. It's not Beyond you need but rather Nearer to the fundamentals. Lastly, in my opinion their Reformer All Levels is likely the hardest class to teach in that the instructor has to be engaged in the class while ensuring their awareness of the various levels of the students, while simultaneously offering substitutions and accommodating at the various levels. Lots of room for improvement. I hope to be back in the future for a class. read more

I was looking forward to attending my first Pilates class and even brought my mother along so we could experience it together. We arrived 15 minutes early (actually 30 min early), as advised, and paid for parking. Unfortunately, we were not informed until 10:00 AM--the class's scheduled start time--that it had been canceled. The message indicated that a replacement instructor was being sought, but in situations like this, I believe clients should be notified at least 30 minutes in advance if a class cannot proceed as scheduled, especially if a substitute hasn't been secured. Additionally, we waited outside in the cold for 15 minutes, which was uncomfortable and frustrating. This experience felt dismissive of our time and the money we invested. Lastly, I noticed the studio had a high number of beds, which may make it difficult for instructors to provide adequate attention and guidance to each participant. Regrettably, based on this experience, we will not be returning to Beyond Pilates. read more

so I never leave reviews please be careful. I went to the Del Cerro location for the first time to try out a class with beyond studios. Christie was the instructor. She was extremely rude horrible nasty attitude. She was very dismissive. It was my first time trying a Pilates class and I didn't have the proper socks, she was looking at me like I was stupid. She's lucky I'm in a Zen place in my life lol i asked what time I could come back and again she was extremely dismissive so I left out. I called and spoke with Amber who was very apologetic and was the person who originally booked me and told me to reach out to the owner. I left him a short voicemail. He never returned my call lol coincidentallyThere was a woman outside of the studio who said this is a horrible studio there aura an energy is just really bad if I was you, I would not go there. Pilates is supposed to be a place with good energy and good vibes. They have none of it. Horrible place. You can tell because they have multiple locations. This is hand down on of my favorite classes I've taken. I've had about 50 Pilates reformer classes and this one was a classic yet intense session. Beyond Pilates - best pilates studio in San Diego! I've been attending classes at the State & G location since January 2023 and everything about this place is amazing. Brad, the owner, is your point of contact for anything related to the classes, pricing and memberships which shows you how involved he is with his studios. I've primarily attended Galina's classes and she is a great instructor. She encourages you to push yourself while also correcting your form when needed. My favorite part about the State & G location is the aesthetic. The reformers are all very modern and always clean. The giant windows are everything - so much light comes through and on rainy days, it's a beautiful sight to see. If you're debating on which pilates company to sign up with, I highly recommend Beyond Pilates. As someone that previously came from CP, I genuinely feel so much more at home at Beyone Pilates. read more

I got an intro package, and for the price I paid, the classes are good. However, I've found them to be not as challenging as I'd hoped. Out of the 10 classes I attended, Rebecca's intermediate class stood out the most. I wouldn't consider myself advanced, more of an intermediate level, but I was expecting a bit more variety in difficulty. A bit more challenging. I've only been to the downtown location, so I can't speak for the others, but after reviewing the schedule, I'm struggling to find options that feel like the right fit for me. One thing I did notice is that there isn't much hands-on correction for posture and form. I personally appreciate when instructors make small adjustments to help improve alignment. I think Olga was one of the few who focused on this. While all the instructors are very nice, I feel like more guidance in this area would make the experience even better. The classes also tend to be a bit repetitive. I keep comparing this studio to another one where each class felt fresh, different and challenging. That said, everyone here has been really nice, and I really appreciate the welcoming atmosphere. I just think a little more variety, more challenging classes, and hands-on instruction could take the experience to the next level. The Pilates reformer I'm looking for. UPDATE Four days after the owner's response, I attended another intermediate class with Rebecca (my favorite), and it was great. I was surprised to receive 4-5 corrections, more than ever before. Being a new mom it's so hard to get back in the grove and movement you had previously. Pilates has been great for me , to slowly build mussels and get stronger. I love the teachers here as they are mindful of everyone limitation in the class and address them with replacing the movement to harder or simpler. read more

I love beyond! I walk like half a mile to get here and just love the classes, i've had 3 different instructors and liked them all. It's not my first time doing pilates but they offer a lot of 1 on 1 help through out the class to people who may need better form or assistance if there new. read more

I've been doing Pilates for years but over the past few years have switched to lagree (SolidCore, Elevate etc), switching back to Pilates now, these classes are not challenging ...at all. They only do beginner or intermediate classes here. I wish the intermediate gave options on how to make movements more challenging. I also wish they had more core, less legs (mainly bc I don't feel any benefit from the legs, and the pressure of the machine just hurts my acromion process/ shoulder bone when I go heavier). The intermediate class is almost identical every time I take it, which gets boring. I also think the instructors (particularly Kat) need to give more tips on form (ie point your toes, draw your stomach in, tuck tailbone), it's these little adjustments that make a huge difference in performance and injury. Wendi has been the best at this so far and her class was also the most interesting. Gailina was nearly impossible to understand so I just looked around to see what others were doing (there was no consistency, I think they were lost too). Plenty of street metered parking ($1.25/hr till 6, free Sunday) Bright, very nice studio. Equipment is in good shape. I think they have a lot of potential if they add more variety and better instructors. Also a 530 class would be great for those of us who get off work at 5. read more

I tested out a few Pilates studios using ClassPass before I bought the 144 class with Beyond Pilates and I haven't regretted it. This location is clean, intimate and offers a good amount of classes. I have never had a class be boring or feel repetitive. I took my favorite class by far today, intermediate, 1.5 with the instructor Katie Holtze. The class was challenging and fast-paced, and the best part about it was that she was very clear and articulate. I have had trouble hearing or understanding in some classes, and during this class, she took the time to teach and watch us, and recognized if we were confused by instructions. I'll happily continue to take more classes when she is the instructor , although I have enjoyed every instructor so far. read more

This studio (at State and G) is great and the instructors are amazing!!! They have completely turned around my view towards exercise!!! Specifically, Annie has been incredible as a Pilates expert - her tone is understanding and her words encourage students to try and do their best. In addition, Galina is wonderful - I always enjoy her classes and she, too, brings out the best in me!!! I love the space , I have come here few times, there was a sub this evening -Bianca . She was very kind, and had mic and asked who had injuries and checked in regularly . She had a quick pace which I loved, kept us moving. Normally this class is slower , but this was at the right pace. I've been trying to be more active since I work from home and it's easy to let myself sit all day. This studio opened up across the street from me so I decided it give it a try. All the instructors I've taken classes from have been extremely supportive and friendly. I like that they explain each movement and take care to work around people's injuries and different body needs. I personally have taken a liking to Dana's all level and intermediate classes, she takes a nice approach with a mix of traditional and newer sequences and it's clear she puts a lot of thoughts into her sets. Excellent instructors through and through. I have to admit, Andrew Nayfack is one of the very best. I've never taken a class that seems to go by so quickly! I didn't look at my watch once during his classes. He communicates very clearly, and quickly so there is a pace to his classes that makes it a lot of fun, and the time goes by in a flash! He is also very quick to quietly come up to you and correct you if you're doing it wrong so you almost feel like you've got a personal coach.
