I had mostly positive thoughts about speech therapy before I became a parent. After bringing my child to Beyond and sitting through several sessions, I now see speech therapy as a scam. You lock a child in a 8x15 room with a bunch of toys they've never seen and a stranger who hovers over them while talking like a Muppet. When the child gets overwhelmed and tries to leave the room, instead of acknowledging their inability to connect with the child, the stranger tells the parents how the kid has problems engaging, concentrating, communicating, etc. Instead of recognizing how you are all forcing the child into a terrible experience, the stranger tells you to bring the kid back (for the same terrible experience) three times a week. The specific person who met with my child was incredibly inexperienced (not even six months out of grad school). She followed a very specific playbook and didn't know how to adjust when we pushed back on some methods (e.g. talking with hands, ASL). After two sessions, it was clear my child did not want to spend time with this person, but my wife insisted we continue until we received the "report" being generated. When we received the report, factual information about when my child started sitting up / walking / running was all incorrect. This information wasn't observed; it was shared directly during a Q&A session (with zero room for interpretation). If a person cannot accurately record information when it's given directly to them, how can you trust that any of their observations are accurate? While spending time in Beyond's waiting room, I did see children who came from homes where English may not have been the primary language spoken. Despite my terrible experience, I can totally understand how speech therapy might be useful to these children and their families. Nevertheless, my personal opinion on the usefulness of speech therapy for my child has completely changed. It's a grift - lying to concerned parents about how their child is behind just so they'll say thank you as you pick their pockets. Save your time. Save your money. read more

I really wanted to reach out and thank this amazing company for the work they did on my friends 4 year old son. I referred this company to her after doing alot of research for a good speech therapist. My friend's son has made huge improvement in his speech, he little by little has been increasing his vocabulary and is now even putting sentences together. I've been going to teacher Sarah since October 2020- and I can easily say this place has changed my daughter's life. My 5 year old son started to develop a mild stutter at the age of about 3. I was in denial thinking it's just a phase and it'll go away on it's own. Until one day it got really bad, and I decided that it was time for speech therapy. I googled and found Beyond Therapy and it was the best thing that happened to my son and our family. His therapist Gloria, is super professional and sweet. That was very important for us because my son gets very nervous around new people, he didn't like saying hello, nor did he like when people said hello to him. All that has changed since Gloria has been working with him. Not only has his speech improved tremendously, but his interaction with people has improved as well.
