Where do I begin!!! Laurie is truly phenomenal. Worked with many speech therapists and she takes the trophy. Laurie worked with my son from the time he was 18 months old to 4.5. He came to her speaking at a 6 month level and graduated at a 4-5 year old level. Laurie is an excellent speech language pathologist who doesn't waste one second during sessions. First things first- we cannot recommend Laurie enough! Our 7 year old son was having difficulty with his "s" words and had a lisp that we wanted to help him improve if possible. Laurie responded to our inquiry for an evaluation quickly and from the very first meeting- created a comfortable and fun environment for him that resulted in amazing progress and confidence in our son. My son was 20 months when he started seeing Laurie. He had a few words, but he was mostly referring to everything as BAA. In the first few months, Laurie helped my son develop an ample, consistent and clear sound library. When that was stock full, she then began shaping those sounds into words. We took our child to Laurie for a few sessions. Although we learned a game to play for our child's stuttering, all the appointments felt very rushed and nothing really stuck . Also there wasn't any activities provided for us to further help him at home other than telling our child to slow down in the beginning of words. After about 3 sessions she said he should be good and that was that. Our son still struggles with his speech and we are left with nothing from the hundred dollar sessions to continue to help him. She's a sweet person, but didn't really seem invested in our sons need for help so therefore wasn't the fit for us. read more

I can't say enough good things about Laurie Martin and the work she did with my son. My son was struggling a bit with talking (he's currently 21 months) and we went to Laurie at the suggestion of my pediatrician. After our first session I was blown away by the progress my son made after just one meeting. We continued to meet with Laurie weekly, and he has improved improved leaps and bounds with his vocabulary and ability to communicate. When first meeting Laurie you can tell she is very passionate about her work, and cares deeply about the child she is working with. She is very personable and down to earth which is not always the case with some specialist. We were referred to Laurie by our pediatrician who recommended speech therapy for my 7-year-old son. His "r" words weren't being properly pronounced. After the first diagnostic, Laurie also caught an issue with his "s" words and so we tackled that first. After 3-4 months, it was almost like a miracle because it happened seemingly overnight, he started to properly pronounce "s" words. Then we moved on to the "r" words for a couple of months - he'd had previous speech therapy (about 3 months) to address the "r" issue but it was with a different SLP over Zoom. All in, we were with Laurie for about 6 months. My son looked forward to his weekly sessions with her. She has many interactive games she uses to make the lessons entertaining. She also sent us home with a binder of at-home exercises to encourage continued practice at home. I highly recommend Laurie for your speech therapy needs. She's great. read more

I brought my 18 month old Max to Laurie because he was basically non verbal. He would just say "Bah" for everything. Laurie was fantastic with him, so patient and caring, and super effective. She told us at his first consultation that she thought she would likely be able to get him all caught up by the time he turned 2, which at the time to me didn't seem likely, since he wasn't talking at all yet, but sure enough, little by little, he came around and now he's just a month over 2 and I can't shut him up! My son was diagnosed with a speech delay and severe phonological disorder at age 2. We tried several other speech therapists around town and he wasn't improving. After we started going to Laurie, my son's speech improved drastically. Laurie is not the type of therapist who just talks while your kid plays. She sits at a small table with your kid and engages him in playing different games and toys while getting your kids to repeat sounds and words. It's a very effective method. My son was discharged at age 4 as he had completely caught up to his peers with his speech. At age 5 he had a couple of sounds that caused him some problems again. We went back to Laurie and she fixed those sounds in no time. He has now "graduated" again. I wouldn't consider going to anyone else. Laurie is absolutely wonderful! read more
