We chose Atlanta. Booking was easy and went smoothly. The staff was very friendly over the phone and in person. Blue Ridge Helicopter is located at Gwinnett Airport in Lawrenceville. The first date we chose unfortunately didn't work out. Heavy rain was expected that afternoon. Our pilot Chris did not recommend us flying that afternoon and asked if we were open to rescheduling. We rescheduled for a couple of weeks ahead and the weather was perfect! Chris is experienced and was very knowledgeable of Atlanta history and landmarks. They informed us that if we wanted to book again in the future, we would pay the same Groupon rate. Very competitive to other helicopter tours!

We booked a 1-hour sunset helicopter tour and were quoted a flat rate of $600 for two people. Unfortunately, the experience ended on a disappointing note due to communication and billing issues. When we arrived, we discovered there was an additional 2.7% credit card fee that had not been disclosed ahead of time. More concerning, about 30 minutes into the flight the pilot descended to land because he believed we had booked only a 30-minute ride. We were surprised because we had clearly scheduled a 1-hour sunset flight two months earlier, and our name was even listed on the schedule board for a one-hour tour. After we clarified the misunderstanding, we went back up and completed the full flight. However, when we landed, we were told the total would now be $775 because we had gone slightly over the hour -- even though the extra time resulted from the earlier misunderstanding, not from any request on our part. After discussion, the total was slightly reduced, but we still ended up paying more than the original quoted amount. I'm sharing this mainly so future customers can be prepared to ask questions about timing, billing policies, and additional fees before flying. The actual flight was scenic and memorable, but the end result left us disappointed.

I called the 677-2700 number the day before to confirm we were good to go and was greeted with a voicemail that said for a faster response to text that same number and I did, no response, I should've known, I never received a return call to either the call or text and was told they had no record of either when we showed up for the flight (has that ever happened to you? Not me and I live and die by my phone for work). I have screen shots of all these calls and texts. I called another number (the day of) listed on the confirmation receipt that went to voicemail after three rings and again another text that said they were on another call and to text for a response, this was one hour before flight time, no response. I called and called again only to get a text, finally, that the plane was in maintenance and i would have to reschedule, 20 minutes before our scheduled flight. My drive was two hours plus in Atlanta traffic ONE WAY for this. The suite they give you at the airport has almost zero mention of this company and there was no one there, I was told by the person (that never gave their name) that they had purchased the company from the prior owner with all the details of the squabbles resulting from this change in ownership. I don't care about any of that. Ask yourself before booking with these folks, I presume a loved one will be 10k plus feet in the air with you, would you trust them with that responsibility? This booking is an automated process, they have my email, my cell number, about anyway you could hope to contact me. If you're going to tell me the plane is in maintenance, wouldn't you, as a business owner, look at what you have booked and contact those people in advance to inform them given this was known well before? So I ask you again, do you want to be in a plane, with a loved one owned and operated by people that conduct their business in this manner? If you do, I pray for you. Maybe my girl and I dodged a bullet but they ruined something for someone so special. I ask you to look at the prices, this is not a cheap endeavor and in this day and age to not be able to communicate effectively is inexcusable. In the week leading up to the flight, I called five times to try to get details; not once did they call back. The day before, I called to check in and again no one answered. I left a voicemail. Just 15 minutes before the flight time, the plane was nowhere in sight and I got a text message that they cancelled it because they hadn't heard from me! After responding with proof that I had checked in, they then claimed that the plane was broken. To top it all off, they didn't even offer a refund. It's always "weather" and "safety", but he's cancelled on clear days as well. When I requested a refund because I keep moving my work schedule and getting childcare and then being cancelled at the last minute, his response was "Just tell your babysitter you'll let them know the night before". That's wildly unprofessional, I can't hold up someone else's time like that, and I've re arranged my work schedule and taken PTO days. I have tried both weekdays and weekends, and somehow the "weather" never cooperates. When I bought the flight, he said he flew over 150 flights a year. When I started to ask for a refund, he said that "most people have to reschedule 5-6 times" and "he's only flown 30 times this year". How do you go from 150 flights to 30? Also, what happens to all the people who bought one of these mythical 150 flights and are also now waiting to use their "gift card"? Had I known that he was just going to hold on to my money and make excuse after excuse, I would never have made the original purchase. He also purposefully pushed past the 180 Paypal dispute window so now disputing is that much harder. I absolutely DO NOT recommend doing business with this Company.
