possibly the weirdest name for a restaurant i'd ever encountered....then was enlightened by the lovely staff that it's a traditional Korean dish, oh of course?!! bi offers a great range of healthy grub thats really tasty, it's also a great place to go if your vegetarian. This includes the signature dish which comes out still cooking in the hot stone bowls which lady stirs up for you, sadly they don't feed you as well however. the real treat of this place is that they take a polaroid of you after the meal, pin it to the wall and get you to sign it...how cute!! the place was lacking in atmosphere a bit but i'm guessing that's cos it was so new, you could still smell the paint! if your in soho a great place to check out for luncheon or dinner just make sure you get blue steel ready...say cheese now! read more

I found bibimhap on yelp and got it for Carry out which was presented very nicely and came with many topping. Perhaps the dining in experience is different but I would have liked my beef bulgogi to include the sauce in which it was cooked it. We were a group of 12 hungry shoppers on Friday night, 10 of whom had never eatenKorean food before! Good thing we got there at 6pm on the dot, since there was already a line. We were able to get 2 booths in the back. For starters we shared a few sides: the dumplings, sweet potato noodles, and kimchi pancakes. Nothing too special, but good. The noodles are just like regular glass noodles. But the main event was AMAZING! We all got the bulgogi bibimbap and doused it in the miso sauce and chili sauce. Searing hot bowls, great flavor on the meat, crispy pickled veggies, and a perfect fried egg. Unbeatable prices. When we left the line was around the block. Dang, that was disappointing. Fairly decent food in a charmingly quirky space, completely ruined by weird customer service. I can give Bi Bim Bap a little benefit of the doubt over the fact that I arrived really late to our small dinner party (was having too much fun at the Yelp Audio Lounge event--stunning sound and free gin, go figure) of five, and it was confusing to have one person order while everyone else was finishing up. What happened next, though, was even more stunning than the Audio Lounge stereos: Server: Are you finished? Friend: *with hands on bowl* I'd quite like to hold on to it, it's so warm! Server: *makes gesture to clear stone bowl* Friend: Oh, but may I keep it a little longer, please? It's just so nice to hold! Server: No. *takes stone bowl* Me: *jaw drops* Okay, so maybe there's a second benefit of the doubt in the fact that my friend has an abnormal fondness for cuddling heated crockery, but she was being charming and smiley about it, and the server was being humorless and rude. The restaurant wasn't even very busy at this time, so the theory that they needed the bowl to serve more bibimbap was out. Or so we thought. Some ten or so minutes later, four steaming bibimbaps appeared for my friends. Who had already eaten their bibimbaps (and had their stone bowls snatched back by force). After a brief moment of confusion, the bowls and servers stole away as quickly as they appeared, with someone muttering at us "we didn't cross the order off" by way of reluctant explanation. Mistakes are understandable, but somehow the interaction left us feeling really guilty that four perfectly good bibimbaps were being sent back to the kitchen because of us. Oh yes, and there was also this gem of an interaction: Friend: May we see the dessert menu? Server: No. We then figured out that they don't serve dessert, but what a response! To add insult to injury, there was no toilet paper in the ladies room (or the men's--I checked). There was an apologetic staffer who came back with a roll--but only after I asked for it. First time trying bibimbap, and I really enjoyed it! I had the dol sot bibimbap, which is their classic. It comes with cucumber, daikon, bean sprouts, spinach, carrots, mooli, and a fried egg on top. It was tasty, healthy (I got brown rice for a slight extra charge), and cheap. My kind of food! Priced at around £7-9 their Dolsot (meaning 'hot stone bowl' in Korean) Bibimbap is undoubtedly great value for the money. If you need to quickly fill of your tummy before heading to one of the neighbouring clubs/pubs/bars, this is definitely a place you should pop in to. The Bibimbap comes along with Gochujang and Doenjang sauces with the former being made from red chili peppers and the later being white bean. You can make your Bibimbap spicier by adding Gochujang. I have been to this place quite a few times now and I have not been dissapointed yet. The place is great located in soho and the interier is cool , funky and fresh. To add to the cool factor you can have a polaroid taken with your friends and stick it on the wall that is full of pictures. I am a big fan of the raw beef bibimbap dish and take it every time. the spicy rice cake are amazingly tasty and the miso soup is great aswell. Service is top. Everyone is friendly. Prices are great. I'm glad I forgot to review Bibimbap until the second time I went. And maybe it was the fact that it was summer time the next time I ate here but I just didn't like it as much as the first time. I had the spicy pork the first time and bulgogi beef the second, two toppings that I really enjoy outside of bibimbap. Maybe I just have a major preference for spicy pork, but the bulgogi was just okay! I wasn't a big fan of the dumplings either - they tasted okay but I think the dumplings at Seoul Bakery were just as good, and cheaper! The service was fine; you did kinda need to flag them down if you wanted more water or the bill but I feel like that's kind of standard for a lot of restaurants in London. I definitely should go back in the winter time to see if I think any differently about it again, because maybe it was just that a sizzling hot stone bowl in the summer is just not as appetising! read more

I would give Bi Bim Bap a 5 star rating because the restaurant, food and service were all fabulous, however as I've never had Korean food before, perhaps it is unfair to award the very best score possible... I've wanted to go to this place for ages. We went on a Monday and as is everywhere in Soho it was busy. This unfussy and informal place is great-there's a long bench for single diners (why can't more restaurants stop treating single diners as lepers!). Walls are covered with photos taken of diners and posters of K Pop stars-all very Seoul. The food was fantastic. We had crispy chilli squid, panko breaded prawns and some kimchi to start (I understand it's almost an insult not to have the latter!). All were excellent, the squid was crispy as promised and spicy. For mains we all bowed down to king Bibimbap. This bowl of lovelyness comes in a red hot stone bowl. I've never eaten anything before that remains hot to the last mouthful. And what a mouthful-full of flavour, I could have eaten another straight after. Service was youthful and friendly. We washed it all down with Hite beer. What are you waiting for? read more

One of the worst dinning experience: terrible service. I am in love. Its been a long time since I had Korean food. I was skeptical at first discovering a Korean restaurant in London, but Bi Bim Bap did not fail to satisfy. I got the bulgogi bibimbap with kimchi (special request) and it was mouth wateringly delicious. I cant say the kimchi was the best, but it sufficed. I am a Korean American with access to a variety of Asian food in Southern California so I was a bit skeptical at first; however, after my first bite, I knew I made the right decision. I went on a Thursday with a friend and we both ordered the bibimbap rice dishes in the hot stone bowl. We both absolutely loved our meal, and for 7.50 pounds it was a generous portion. The restaurant was a bit warm and the seating was really tight. It was hard to get in to the bench because the tables were so close together and there was no where really to put a jacket or purse. The meal came very quickly, so it's a good place to go if there's a free table and you don't have a lot of time. I tried the mix seafood hot stone and its the best I ever tried in town. I would recommend jap chae (S6 on the menu) for starter and seafood pancake as well.
