They have 4 campsites that are spread out with plenty of room. Each site has a fire pit and bbq grill with benches. Designated parking spots for each campsite. At $90 a night, very reasonable. Big plus for clean bathrooms with paper towels! You can walk over to the Golden Gate Bridge or just take in the views nearby. This is more of glamping rather than roughing it. But surrounded by many trees and not many bugs around. Also, close enough to civilization if you need to hit up Safeway or a restaurant.

Pt. Reyes is a treasure. This was our third camping trip to the park, and first time backpacking…read moreinto Coast Camp. From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, it is about a 6.5-7 mile hike, depending on which route you take. The Mt. Wittenberg trail is the steepest, and we went with the Bear Valley trail to the Meadow trail. From there you take the Sky Trail to the Woodward Valley trail, and then there is 0.9 miles on the Coast trail to the campground. In terms of surroundings, you go from meadow, to pine forest, to ridge line, down to the coast covered in chaparral. It's lovely. The campground is just 100 yards from the beach, but because of the large slope, you are protected from the heavy winds. That said, you still get a nice view of the water from sites 1-7. We stayed in site 2, which had everything we needed, including a bear box and picnic table. The larger campground has potable water, vault toilets, and trash bins. After we set up camp we went down to the beach, and walked a mile south to Sculptured Beach, which has lovely rock formations and tide pools. We saw anemones, urchins, and mussels.

Hiking from Limantour Rd. to Sky Camp is about as easy as backpacking gets at only a little over a…read moremile and only a short incline. There are many different ways in if you want a harder hike. Point Reyes is one of my favorite places to hike in the country. I highly recommend taking a trip there. Sky Camp is a lovely campground. It is up there so you have nice views of the ocean without the coastal winds. It's a open campground with many of the campsites feeling very private. We stayed at campsite #10, which had a nice view. The best views seemed to be #'s 10, 11, and 1 (which is not as private). Other notable sites for larger groups if you want more privacy then the group site offers are #6 which is in the shade and #8 and #9 which have a small trail between them. I am not giving Sky Camp 5 stars because my favorite place to camp in Point Reyes is Wildcat.

This site was very spacious - we fit three tents and could have easily fit a few more. It does border on another campsite and there is no complete privacy, but they are bigger sites, so it wasn't really an issue. #5 was totally shaded, but there are other sites with more sun, if you'd prefer. We had great weather, but the camp remained cool all day... and then the fog rolled in around 7PM and it was cold!! It also rained on us, but it wasn't bad... added some ambiance. The hiking around this camp is great, and there even a shorter 2.5 mile loop if you are tuckered out from the hike in. While Sky Camp doesn't have the beach that Coast Camp boasts, the campsites and general location are amazing.

I first heard about the Steep Ravine Cabins through an email from California State Parks. The reservation system works like a lottery--once your name is drawn, you'll get an email allowing you to try booking a cabin through their system. Fortunately, my name was selected late last year, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained the cabins were. They have a rustic charm...it was simple but thoughtfully equipped. Inside, you'll find a cozy fireplace, a table with benches, and four wooden sleeping platforms that comfortably fit up to five people. While I originally hoped to bring a group, it ended up being just my husband and me--a romantic and peaceful getaway. That said, it would also make a fantastic trip with friends or family. Keep in mind that no pets are allowed, and there's a strict maximum of five people per cabin. While I did see a few people bending those rules (bringing dogs or squeezing in more guests), it didn't take away from our experience. I understand the restrictions are there to protect the fragile ecosystem, and honestly, the whole place has an intimate and respectful connection with nature that's worth preserving. For those seeking a more rugged stay, there are also tent camping areas nearby. Thankfully, there are two modern restroom stalls near the parking lot, along with outhouses scattered throughout the area, but unfortunately, they did not have any showers. There's even a ranger cabin onsite, likely where State Parks staff stay. Parking is limited but sufficient for those with cabin or campsite reservations...just another way the area keeps things quiet and low-impact. It was a magical experience. I'm so grateful I got the opportunity to stay at Steep Ravine thanks to the California State Parks. I will say that if you ever get the chance--go. It's unforgettable.

Didn't think this place would be taken over by permanent residents who are rude and think they run the place. Bunch of drunks hanging out in the mini-market till late night. Spaces are tight, and not worth the price. So many beat up RV's and trailor which obviously people are living in. Should have stayed at a non long term Park as this one is something else. On the way back Stayed at the Petaluma KOA which was amazing.

There is also a Trader Joe's & World Market a short walk away. The ferry will whisk you to the SF Ferry Building! It is usually fun ride & time to plan your City visit. The office personnel @ the park are very helpful! The rate was $118, though typical discounts were available. Our gravel space with full hookups was apx. 16 ft wide and 44 ft. Long. I Stayed here last night and was very disappointed. I've stayed at many RV Parks and they've been nice. This one is not an RV park -- it's more like an RV parking lot! Sitting in the back of my camper van looking out the front and right side windows, I can see 6 RV's parked. If I stand and look out the windshield alone, there are 20! Yes 20 RV's all within view, all in a row. Six to 10 feet (maybe) apart. Super tacky for sure. Not a camping experience more of a, "we parked there and slept" last night. Never, ever again!! Total rip off for the price too. Ridiculous. Oh now it gets even better. NOT! I wrote an email to them yesterday to cancel the second night of the two night reservation I made last yesterday, and they replied with "Sorry to hear you had family troubles. There are no refunds for early departures. Please let us know if you have any other questions. " This place is an absolute rip off and a joke. Don't waste your time here. Hope this helps at least one person. Wish I would have known, I never would have booked here.

Easy to make reservations. And so well worth the fees. Remember since it's a national park, no dogs are allowed. Things are a little older and rundown a bit, but it's still an amazing place to horse camp! Hey, aren't we all older and run down?? Free hot showers and real toilets. Clean too! Know that cell coverage is limited in camp. Yes nice to get away! There are level sites, fire pits, picnic table, Tielines, water (not potable) and a manure dumping pit plus on the way out, there is recycle bins and trash bins. I also noticed you can rent horse panels if needed. Trails are part of the National Sea Shore. Always beautiful.
