Not only does Taylor know bikes but he's an expert craftsman at repairs and tune-ups along with custom mods or builds. It was 5 p.m. and we thought surely no bike shops would be open. The Bicycle Barn was, until 6; we became aware that it was a Mennonite (i.e. Amish) shop on the phone, and the individual I'd picked up was concerned they may not have his particular kind of tube (for a racing bike). Lo and behold, we were shocked to find that this is a fully-functioning bicycle shop carrying every kind of bike (from racing bikes to recumbants to tricycles) you can imagine. The workers behind the counter were Mennonite boys between the ages of 10 to 16, and they were fully knowledgeable about what this individual needed as well as how to work his pump. We were surprised and pleased at our experience. I am not an avid cyclist and do not visit upstate NY often but, if I were and if I did, I would certainly return here many times.

I called around the Geneva, NY area to see if anyone could help and all but one said maybe in a few days but probably wouldn't have parts. The one who said he would do whatever it took to get me back on the road was Weaver Bicycle Shop near Penn Yan. I can't say enough positive things about how I was treated and my bike repaired. He told me on the phone he would take parts from a brand new Cannodale if that is what it would take - and he did just that. This is vacation season so I didn't expect him to drop what he was doing, cannibalize a brand new Cannondale for a hanger, improvised a repair, replaced my chain and parts of the derailleur, trued my rear wheel, and did a great tuneup to get me back on the road early in my long awaited vacation. The owner and his wife were courteous, friendly, and his cost was amazingly fair and reasonable for all that he did. If you live in the area, or are on vacation and need bicycle repairs, tune-ups, or to purchase a new or used bike and accessories I highly, highly recommend you visit this shop.
