They even have a restaurant type place inside. We took a look at the menu, and it seemed like they offer lots. It smelled delicious! The fruit selection was so huge and was fresh. Back home in Houston, I know the only place to find good variety is at Asian supermarkets. So, I searched on Yelp. Here we are. I couldn't believe New Grand Mart has almost all mushroom varieties in the Asian markets: fresh Shiitake Mushrooms, Oyster Mushrooms, King Oyster Mushrooms (hardiest kind), White Beech Mushrooms, Brown Beech Mushrooms, Snow White Mushrooms aka Seafood Mushroom, Enoki (good for grilling), Wood Ear Mushrooms aka black fungus 黑木耳 (incredible meat texture), Baby Bella Mushrooms and Button Mushrooms. The only thing I didn't see was portobello Mushrooms. I immediately noticed the clientele was mixed ethnicity. Wow, the store was playing Spanish music and there were aisles of Hispanic products. So, I concluded that New Grand Mart is a truly an international supermarket. Definitely a good place to share my food culture knowledge by bringing people from other areas to come explore.

Being from Florida we typically have individuals selling them on the street in the summer months but I gave up hope being able to find them here in VA. Lo and Behold, Campo Market came to the rescue with an amazing supply of them! Along with delicious looking mangos and others varieties of fruit. The cashier was very kind and helped me source what I was looking for and bagged them up nicely. I will say the store is a bit cramped but that is just because the shelves are full with all of the things. I can not imagine a scenario where you would walk out of this market empty handed. Better price than the store for the size. Cubans and other Latin Caribbeans - Best price for masitas de cerdo - yay! This one is for everyone--You'll find amazing teas available with blends for everything ranging from respiratory troubles to digestive issues, to immunity, and sleep. The blends are excellent, and the price is comparable to the supermarket, but better blends. You'll find linden, lavender, passiflower, valerian, turmeric, elderflower, etc. all the good stuff! For fruit, best price for watermelons because the size is bigger, and the price is already good People, let's support our smaller local markets! We need them, and they need us! Don't let the big markets stomp out our local color! Dollar bags are amazing! Kroger has nothing on what you get for a dollar in the markdown section. If you're smart in your planning and storage, not a reason at all for any of it to go bad before you finish it all. It's a big produce bag, nowhere near the more or less quart size quantity found at Kroger. Come by, grab your groceries, and even grab a bite of house made meats cooked over wood fire for lunch and dinner. It all smells absolutely amazing! To do that, you often need to go to specialized markets. Oaxaca is sort of one of those. It's a cross between a bodega and a Latin market that is talked in a nondescript side street in the fan of Richmond. The owners are wonderful people who will take the time to show you the different products that they have an answer your questions. It is not the largest Latin market I've ever been to, but it had a lot of really good stuff including many of the hard to find spices and dried peppers that go with Latin food. Any chance that we have to support local businesses, we should do so going to this market is a good choice if you live in the Richmond area.

This is a great little market with a great selection of all things Latin at incredible prices (particularly the spices). But this place has a something extra to offer with their small lunch counter in the back. On this trip in, DH and I ordered a bunch of the al pastor tacos (priced at $2 each). They were served up in soft corn tortillas and dressed with chopped onion and cilantro (just like they should be). Their salsa verde comes on the side. You may want to do to the finger test before pouring it over your taco as it is pretty hot and spicy. But it complemented the flavors of the al pastor tacos beautifully. Washed down with a bottled limeade, it made for a great little lunch.
