Wine tastings of bubbly rosés, fresh caught scallops, and shelves overflowing with rapini, Hokkaido pumpkins, and bok choy could not have been found in the East End just a year ago. For shoppers at the newly opened Market at 25th, such luxuries are becoming commonplace. As we wandered through aisles named after East End churches, teeming with tons of products sourced from the greater Richmond region, the Market's desire to make itself approachable to existing residents was almost palpable. The dozens of families packing their carts full on a Friday afternoon seemed to indicate all is going according to plan: for the first time in years, East End residents have access to healthy, affordable groceries at a full-service supermarket. Our conversational cashier concurred; after some initial growing pains and price adjustments, business has been booming. Boxed, canned, and packaged items may be slightly more expensive here, but that's only because the Market passes the savings on to consumers in the fresh produce, dairy, and meat products. Trying to incentivize healthy eating, all the fresh goods around the edge of the store are cheaper than normal. The hot bar and locally sourced finished foods are fantastic and such a bargain! I regularly swing in to grab dinner here. $6.99 for two proteins, two sides, and a cornbread is a STEAL! The fact that all of it is cooked according to Mama J's standards means it's all guaranteed to be delicious!

I truly love my neighborhood market from the hot bar when I order my fried wing dinner, fresh cut fruit, and the new amazing sub station.

Reservations made well in advance is a must unless you're going at less popular times. Unfortunately parking is always a challenge because of reserved parking so plan ahead and come early if I have a reservation. Lots of steps leading up into the building but there is a ramp for handicap access. Kids were in town so we were visiting all our favorite places. Blue Atlas tapas style variety is always a hit with us. The only disappointment this time was the Elote dumplings. They were basically just corn gnocchi. Not a terrible flavor, but wouldn't bother ordering again. We started with some pretty fun cocktails, and a highlighted wine which I wish I could remember the name of...i think it started with N...It was a light bodied wine with mild floral notes, and a Prosecco feel without the bubbly that went perfect with all the plates. For cocktails, we got tea ceremony, la Siesta, Nicolada. I loved la Siesta and Tea ceremony for their uniqueness and smooth delivery. My son has a sweet tooth for cocktails, which the Nicolada fit but probably a little too sweet for me. For food we got the ever reliable pork belly Bao buns -a bit on the pricey side when you have to order extra to serve a table of four at $6 each, Next the aforementioned elote dumplings, -tacos de trucha which was good but not my favorite, -hanger steak, -Malaysian fried chicken - delicious and a good deal, -shish Barak; unique, and very tasty, -Vietnamese prawn toast, which was delicious , - -steamed mussels- good and enjoyed by most, and the -tortilla Española; solid but underwhelming compared to everything else. Also ordered the Brie special with toast that I loved but some of us got part of the rind which there was a lot of so wasn't as enjoyable for them but the flavors were there. Would've liked a few more heavy protein options but this did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. The hanger steak exceeded my expectations. I'm not always up for steak, but this was done perfectly and well accompanied with a marinated summer squash, cherry tomatoes, and pickled peppers. For dessert we got the ice cream sandwich and the chocolate banoffee budino. They were all out of the Black Forest meringue, so unfortunately, we could not try that. The ice cream sandwiches were a hearty serving and enjoyed by everyone at the table, but I thought the banoffee budino was the best. Unique and very tasty. Would have ordered one to have by myself if I wasn't so full lol.

The seating is both indoors and outside, absolutely astonishing spots. The staff are friendly and chatty and quick with their services ! Absolutely a lovely spot for yummy coffee AND yummy food. Most places have either or- they have BOTH! Will be returning more than I'd like to admit hehe.

The food won't necessarily blow your socks off-- however it is consistently good, a lot of vegan/gluten free/etc options, lots of cocktail and beer options, and even the pickiest of eaters could find something they enjoy there. Our waiter this last time was outstanding. I noticed on their menu they also have specials including Thursdays where they do a hot chicken sandwich and beer for a cheaper price. They also have a solid happy hour.

It's a very popular restaurant, so today, when we entered, while we were greeted right away, there was a 30 minute wait. The time actually went by relatively fast, and by the time we were seated, large cups of ice water were already there at our table, as well as a carafe to refill them. There's no physical menus, instead you scan a QR code which brings you to their menu. They have lots of drink options, including several specialty cocktails, beers, and ciders. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive, and the food came out relatively quickly. For my drink, I ordered a local cider from a Virginia ciderie, as well as the It's A Wrap, which has cheddar, ranch, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and your choice of protein (I got tofu). I also got a side of the Mac and cheese, which I could tell was made in house. Super creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. My wrap was also insanely good! I'm impressed by the amount of vegetarian options here. Any burger can be made both gluten free or vegan, and the choices of protein make it more accessible for everyone who comes in. I'm really happy we were recommended this place!
