Wine tastings of bubbly rosés, fresh caught scallops, and shelves overflowing with rapini, Hokkaido pumpkins, and bok choy could not have been found in the East End just a year ago. For shoppers at the newly opened Market at 25th, such luxuries are becoming commonplace. As we wandered through aisles named after East End churches, teeming with tons of products sourced from the greater Richmond region, the Market's desire to make itself approachable to existing residents was almost palpable. The dozens of families packing their carts full on a Friday afternoon seemed to indicate all is going according to plan: for the first time in years, East End residents have access to healthy, affordable groceries at a full-service supermarket. Our conversational cashier concurred; after some initial growing pains and price adjustments, business has been booming. Boxed, canned, and packaged items may be slightly more expensive here, but that's only because the Market passes the savings on to consumers in the fresh produce, dairy, and meat products. Trying to incentivize healthy eating, all the fresh goods around the edge of the store are cheaper than normal. The hot bar and locally sourced finished foods are fantastic and such a bargain! I regularly swing in to grab dinner here. $6.99 for two proteins, two sides, and a cornbread is a STEAL! The fact that all of it is cooked according to Mama J's standards means it's all guaranteed to be delicious!

I truly love my neighborhood market from the hot bar when I order my fried wing dinner, fresh cut fruit, and the new amazing sub station.

This little shop is full of Richmond cuteness. From specialty groceries, to locally-made art, to unique gifts and treasures, I could easily have filled my suitcase with goodies. I ended up buying a gorgeous postcard here (designed by a local artist) - the design featured the coffee shops of Richmond. Of course, I forgot to take a pic (who me?) but it was adorbs. The latte was delish, too! I don't usually like cherry-flavored things, but on a warm morning this was the perfect touch. The edible flowers made it just that much more delightful.

I usually come to this location for coffee, specifically coffee during a long wait at Perly's next door. I love their coffee options. This is an intimate/smaller Stella's Grocery, but it has all the local goods the others have packed in. There is a good amount of seating at the front too. You can order your coffee drinks at the front. They also have all the standard Stella's Greek food to go options. At the very front you're greeted by cute Richmond souvenirs and gifts. They have favorites in store like Nightingale Ice Cream sandwiches, Blanchard's coffee beans, Mad Kitchen Co. postcards, and more. I'd recommend getting a drink from here!

Sun-shelter parking! How awesome is that? I'm traveling this week for the Fourth of July and…read morevisiting my hometown, and this, ahem, relatively new location, replacing the Pleasant's Hardware. As I said, they have sun sheltered parking off to the left of the main parking, a great option when it's 99 degrees outside, and a decent rain shelter too, though it would be a bit imperfect. The store is typical Whole Foods though a tad smaller than the location I'm used to, it still has great options for vegetables especially organic, and other healthy items like kombuchas and limited ingredient prepared foods and some great meat and cheese options. I asked for directions to find an item on the shopping list and had a friendly response, and our checkout person was friendly and helpful too. The market was busy and but not overcrowded and there is a lot of space around the perimeter (they say shop the perimeter for the best foods and WF seems to have given thought to giving you more room for that and a tad less for the aisles, a decent approach for my tastes. They were having an issue with their freezers on this day but had the wherewithal to direct customers to the location the frozen items had been moved to, a very customer-friendly move. The AC kept things nice and cool inside on a very hot day. And the meat department was even more chilled. From my Mother, While WF can be a bit more expensive, they offer Prime Deals often and carry a 365 prime brand that is dependably low priced and high quality. Watch for a once a year ice cream discount too!

I am left to write a review about this since I've talked to someone in store and online and over…read morethe phone but the fact that when you return home with a three year old and find your bread is moldy and you cannot easily process a refund is reason enough to not go back. Do not tell me in this day and age that is not possible. That is a choice. That's a choice Amazon and Whole Foods is making to make the lives of their customers harder. I have a prime account. I check out my own items. I use the card you promote and have a digital receipt. Yall can laugh and hang up on me and say that isn't the way you do things. That's fine but I'll just got to Kroger then. Because of the way they do things. When there's choices treating people fairly instead of giving them the run around matters. Especially when your products are expensive. Maybe Whole Foods and Amazon will change their policies if enough of us say enough is enough. Probably not but it's worth adding five minutes to a 45 minutes saga of unsuccessfully getting a refund for moldy bread. As if there aren't enough reasons to cancel prime.
