The storefront is a little discrete and definitely hard to miss if you are unaware of its location. Once inside, it's definitely a man's shop due to the outdated decorations. The wait was about 25-30 minutes and he did 2 haircuts before me. Randy is conversational and does a good job and offered several styling tips, which were appreciated. He even did the straight razor neck cut, which felt nice. For $15 you cannot go wrong. The only issue is hours--if you work a 9-5 it can be hard to get here before closing M-F. read more

Don't go at lunch time. They close for an hour to get lunch. Otherwise, "how are we going to eat"? If they are not smart enough to figure this one out you probably do not want they using sharp instruments near your head. read more

I had the same experience most of the other reviewers had -- an excellent. no-nonsense haircut from a friendly barber. I've been several times in the last year; after the first time he had what I wanted down cold, and he's given me some of the best haircuts/beard trims of my life. I usually go mid-afternoon and have had little or no wait. The price is now up to $15.00, which is still a major-league bargain. I'm pretty sure it's cash only. I was in and out in minutes. Randy makes you feel very comfortable & he's clearly a master at cutting hair. It has the feel of a traditional barber shop, with antiques throughout. I found it to be quite cozy. Plus his finished product (for $15) was high-caliber - far above the $40 plus haircuts I used to get. Those are the places where you're paying for exclusivity, coffered ceilings, recessed lighting, Moen faucets, and French Heritage furniture. Don't need it. I'm just looking for a great haircut. So, if you're looking to get a great haircut, by a true professional with a great personality and a humble heart, without paying outrageous prices - then I strongly suggest Big Bend Barber Shop. If you have to drive a ways to get there, it's worth it. I was pleased to find a traditional barber shop so I didn't have to go to a chain store or a clip joint. From the first time there I was treated like a friend, & not just another customer. But more than that, I always get an excellent haircut & neck shave. Each time I leave feeling good, & with a great haircut for $14. Tip the guy at least a buck, he's cool. Support small businesses like this so they can afford to stay in business. read more

My haircut was awful, plus I took my two sons to get their hair cut and the barber couldn't have been more rude or less inclined to cut their hair. Didn't experience the "friendly barbers" or the "back in time" atmosphere at all - just a guy who couldn't wait to get my kids out of his shop and doesn't know how to taper the back of the neck. I had one too many crappy cuts at Great Clips and took a chance with a real barbershop. I drive by this shop all the time and finally went in and was surprised to see such cool old barber chairs, but modern red leather chairs to sit in while waiting. Randy, a hip barber really fixed my up haircut that Great Clips messed up and the older barber joked with me. What impressed me most? A guy waiting to get his haircut told me he had been getting his hair cut there for almost 20 years and he was in college! Will definitely being going back there for now on. $13 a cut but i gave $15 and I never tip, that is how happy I was that he could fix my hair. read more

Great local shop. I've been coming here for about a year and half and am always pleased. Good cut and good value. No appointments, drop in only, which can sometimes mean a wait if you come late. (Though even that is not always predictable so just give it a whirl.) Open Tues-Fri from 8a-5:30p and 7:30a-2p on Saturdays. Closed Monday. read more

The wait is worth it as Big Bend Barbershop is half the price of many salons (so tip well!) and does an amazing job. Randy really takes his time and makes sure that he knows exactly what you want before getting started. Make sure you aren't in a hurry because the wait is long however there are plenty magazines and a chill atmosphere so I really didn't mind waiting 40 minuites to get a haircut. It is walk-in only. Can't Recomend this place enough...I'm gonna see how he does on the Justin Timberlake look next time I stop by (new JT, not the N'Sync hairstyle). read more

Fast and friendly service - Randy (the barber who cut my hair - guess he is the owner too) was detail oriented and customized the cut to my particular hair. He even suggested a different type of style that might work for my hair to try on one of my next visits. Price was $14, and I left a good tip in addition to that. I got there before 9AM Saturday and did not have to wait very long but by the time my cut was finished, 2 other guys had come in. Also uses the hot lather and straight razor on the neck, which is nice. Would recommend to others. No appointment necessary, which is nice. Easy to find on Big Bend in a small strip mall. read more

Was 'my place' after trying several shops. No issues with the work or price, but quit going here because there were too many times when Randy just wasn't there, although he was supposed to be open. It was convenient to stop here on my way home from work, but after stopping there the last time around 4:20 during the week (not a Monday), the sign said open, yet the place was dark, no note. I even waited there for a bit to see if he stepped out for a sec. This happened a couple of times before, so it was time to find another barber. Not even sure if he's still open.
