Unfortunately, I decided to end my business with this place today, due to the quality of their customer care. I moved to St.Louis area few years ago. I read some good reviews about this place on internet and gave them a shot, started coming here for my hair needs. Even I didn't mind driving half an hour one way to just to get here. They didn't do a marvelous job with my hair comparing to their pricing. But I enjoyed their customer care, because I can tell how my stylist loves her job. Then my hairstylist changed in September 2022. He is a new start still practicing with hair. But I can tell he loves his job too, enjoying what he does. I am a person who seeks transparency and trust first. And spending money comes after that. I simply would like to know what I am paying and what is it for? So, we talked about their pricing with him at the beginning because I have long hair, needs to be colored every month, need full hair cut, bang trim and full color every few months. It is high maintenance, it costs a lot. When we first started, he colored my hair, trim my bangs for couple of minutes (because I don't need much), styled and charged me for $85 and told me all included! He does good job but still needs some more practicing. So even if the pricing was little off, gave him a chance and also I always added tip around 10-15%. I kept coming for 5 months. A month ago, he cut my bangs little too short but he gave me hair curling service. During payment they added approximately $25 extra and the cashier lady told me "We saw your stylist did hair curling". Someone is watching what services I am receiving? I felt uncomfortable. And I told them that I didn't asked for hair curling, assumed he cut my bangs too short and since I wasn't happy with the result, offered me a free hair service. He didn't even mention the cost of that expensive hair service, and even someone added to my check without my permission.. They took the service out of my check. I thought it was a mistake, and it is ok, they fixed it. 1 month after, today, my appointment was for full hair color again. He styled my hair, trimmed my bangs for 2 minutes. Cashier/another stylist again, different person this time, told me they saw me receiving bang trimming. They are watching me, like I am trying to steal hair services. :) Felt uncomfortable again and added $10 for that. I asked them, all the services included within the price for 5 months and now they are extra? The answer was very unprofessional "It was a mistake we charged you that price, it shouldn't have been included" It was a mistake, for 5 months? Even if I tip him good? But the tip wasn't good enough for him, I guess.. There is tip options on the card reader, I was just doing just right. After all, told them to cancel all my future appointments. Her answer was "Perfect!" "Perfect" for your customer's dissatisfaction? Very sad. I understand all the prices everywhere going up due to inflation. But I was their customer coming once sometimes twice a month despite their pricing. This doesn't feel good to be treated like this. I even gave him a 5-star Yelp review when I first started with him, so maybe more people come do business with him and he can do more hair. Apparently they don't want my business. TL:DR I came in wanting one thing and got something else completely different and the stylist didn't attempt to remedy the situation at all just ushered me out the door. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received here. I came in with a grown out white blonde balayage and all I wanted was a refresh. I showed the guy the picture and he said I wanted highlights and told the receptionist to schedule me for highlights. I thought it was weird but said nothing because he is the expert and as long as he has the reference picture it should be fine. The first picture is what I asked for. The second and third pictures are what I got. And the last picture is what I had prior to the appointment. He turned me around in the chair to face the mirror and asked me what I thought. I asked if there was anyway to make it lighter. He asked if I meant the highlighted sections or everything and I said everything. He then said I should get a balayage. He then handed me my purse and started on his "thank you for coming" spiel basically kicking me out. I ended up at the front counter where the receptionist asked me what I thought. I said he said we need a balayage because it's not what I wanted. At the point an older woman stepped into the conversation, presumably the owner or manager. She is the only one who attempted to remedy the situation. She said that in between today and the next session that I need to use conditioning treatment to add moisture and not mess with the color so he has a base to work with. Either way I'm extremely disappointed. I had a reference picture, got something completely different, and was rushed out the door when I expressed dissatisfaction. But I finally have that and it may be the best haircut I've gotten. it is professional and has hip decor inside and they offer you drinks and snacks too. overall a super welcoming and talented staff! read more

I came in for a men's haircut. I called ahead and they were able to fit me in very quickly in the same day. The barber has tons of experience and knew exactly what I wanted. The facility is phenomenal, very clean with beautiful architecture. There was plenty of street parking right in front. Very happy with my cut, and I'll obviously be back. read more

Covid-related post: I had Mike as my hair stylist here. This place is very good with their covid regulations - temperature check, both parties must wear mask, and chairs are all separated at every wall. Hair washing stations have shower curtains and they also stopped blow-drying to reduce aerosolized droplet particle transmissions. I have Asian type of hair so I was slightly worried going in, but Mike really exceeded my expectations! My hair came out so clean-cut and professional looking, and he did a great job making sure my hair compliments my facial structure. Mike asked me detailed questions regarding how I want my hair and even demonstrated how it would look, which I truly appreciate. I used to come here regularly several years ago when they were first starting out. Now that they're settled, it's so pretentious! I'm happy that they're successful but I'm sad that the success has made them bully people in paying for services they don't want. I live in Utah now and I will be back in town for my wedding. I decided I wanted to have someone at V Vegaz do my hair for my wedding day. I will be in town in September so I figured I would come in and have them do an updo then and if I liked it, I would have them do the same thing on my wedding day. I have naturally curly hair that takes forever to dry so I was planning on washing my hair and setting my curls the night before to save time. Easy enough right? They also have this item on their website called "bridal hair" that costs almost $300. Just the updo is listed on their website for $80. I made a HUGE mistake by asking about what the "bridal hair" included. I figured it probably included things I didn't need but thought it couldn't hurt to clarify what it was. It's actually a great package for someone who lives in the area who has a specific vision of what they want for their wedding day but for me, it was more than I needed or had time for. It includes a consultation as well as multiple trials to get the hair just right before the big day. Since I live in Utah, this was totally more than I needed. I don't have time to come back for multiple trials. I just wanted a simple updo in September, and if I liked it, I would come back for the same updo on my wedding day. I was basically told that I would have to pay $200 because I would require a "consultation". I decided to cancel the whole thing because I just got a weird feeling about it all. I have naturally curly hair, so going to the salon is super nerve wracking. Even going to a salon I was happy with for years is nerve wracking. I'm constantly worried about whether someone will try to use heat on my hair or not understand what to do with it. I went in for a consultation for a Brazilian Blowout I have done my research on the style I wanted.. when I told the receptionist what I wanted she said she had the 'perfect' girl. During the consult the stylist kept talking about her comfort level with the style I wanted because my hair is curly. And I wanted to achieve the look I wanted.. She said that there is a "cheaper"treatment but that it would leave my hair curly. The only reason I decided to take this option is because it is vegan and I liked that... she also said there was a huge price difference. She broke so much trust with me at the next point besides her already rude attitude about the style I wanted as if it were personal because I'm sure heat damage is general..for people with hair. During the treatment she asked if I wanted my hair blown out at the end, which during the consultation I said "no, what's the point if it's not the Brazilian blowout I requested in the first place" but I did say. "If you want to" so I could see what the Brazilian results might be. Mariah said so rudely that she didn't have time she just wanted to know if I wanted my hair blown out.. So what was the point in asking if the answer was intended to be shut down anyway. Acted like I couldn't afford it in the first place. I left without the style I wanted and I'm definitely taking my money elsewhere because I had to buy 3 extra products that were $30 a piece just to maintain the treatment. Not only that but the treatment I received personally from the stylist. I wonder if bleach and other styles are damaging for other clients or if I was just not the type of client she wanted and that's why I was treated like an inconvenience. I am extremely lazy with my hair but very VERY picky with my hair coloring/style. I have left salons crying before even though I'm really straight forward with what I want done. Paige didn't mess around. She was very sweet and had a super pleasant personality. I got full highlights to lighten my hair back to blonde and idk how, but she did it wonderfully! My sister and I both got haircuts here recently and were less than thrilled. She wanted a simple trim, but the face-framing pieces of hair were cut really choppily. My cut wasn't bad, but it was much shorter than the stylist and myself agreed upon. The nourishing hair deep conditioner was nice- my hair had been feeling noticeably softer. I'm just disappointed that neither of us left the salon feeling wonderful and confident, and that after really solid communication, my haircut was still too short. However, the staff there was really friendly and gentle. Pretty decent place overall, with cool ambiance and eclectic artwork all around. This review is really for Jaime, who has been cutting my hair for about a year. She is basically the shit. She's personable and easy to talk to AND she does amazing things to my hair. After half heartedly growing out my layers for a year, I came in with a picture and the completely impulsive idea to chop off all my hair. I expected Jaime to shoot me down, but she was just as excited and she did a great job on my new short hair. Like so good, I get compliments on my cut at least once a week from total strangers. No one has ever stopped me to talk about my hair before and now this is an actual thing in my life. AND my thick annoying hair is so much easier to style now. I've been going to V Vegaz for about 5 years and everyone there has always treated me very well and have done amazing things with my hair. I came in with fried, bleach blonde hair and in the last few years the stylists have gotten my hair healthy again and given me every crazy color I asked for (within reason). The shop is so nice and made me feel at home with its creepy cool decor. This last weekend I had my hair and make up done for my wedding and it was absolutely perfect. Laura just gets my hair and we hit it off immediately. She is chill as a cucumber and just puts me at ease. I always go in with a bun that's the size of a cantaloupe and I come out with goddess hair. She works her magic and I always always always love the outcome I have never had to go home and trim something or just live with it because it will grow out....YOU KNOW YOU HAVE ALL EXPERIENCED THIS but no Laura is amazing and I would recommend her to everyone but I am not going to because I am selfish and I don't want everyone else to have amazing hair!!!!!!! I just told him simply to cut it with only a couple of instructions because I believed in that review... He's very meticulous. He takes his time and really looks over every little detail. I think he's pretty skilled and can probably cut Asian guy hair, but probably only with a specific style in mind. I'm not really a fan of my haircut especially because my hair looks ridiculous unless I have product in it, just the front that is. Went to get bangs cut because it was a semi-decent price and pretty close to me, I also saw they had an appointment open for the next day. It is super nice inside, very good environment for a hair cut and the staff is very kind. My only issue was the service I requested not coming out to what I wanted... I went in for shorter curtain bangs because the fringe I had was already growing out. The stylist just went in with a razor on my grown-out fringe, and when I asked for something a little shorter she hesitated and didn't really cut as much as I wanted. When I got home I also noticed both sides of the "curtain bangs" were different lengths - one side was a lot short than the other, so I had to fix it myself. Maybe I wasn't using the right words to describe what I wanted, but I also showed reference pictures and feel like the stylist just didn't know how to give me what I was looking for. After a couple of months I went to my stylist in my hometown and was told that using a razor on my hair texture isn't ideal at all. I'm not sure about other services here, but if you're looking for a new hair cut or style I'd make sure to communicate as much as you can with your stylist. It would also be nice if the stylists could talk you through everything they're doing, so the customer can be on the same page as them. read more

Great for men's hair dyeing, even though I wasn't sure what I wanted. I worked with tiffany who expertly bleached and toned my hair. When the color turned out to be not quite what I had in mind, she and the other staff were glad to help me switch to a lighter color. It's been over a year, and I only built up the courage now to write my review. I called V Vegaz to set up a consultation for a balayage. When I came in I showed a picture of exactly what I wanted and what not, I mentioned that I had Henna in my hair, and the hairdresser told me not to worry she has worked with henna bunch of times. A week later I came to dye my hair and due to the henna it started turning blue, long story short I left with only a shade lighter of my naturally dark brown hair. She told me that next time she could probably do it again and it go lighter. Three months later I came back because I really wanted lighter hair. I reminded her I had henna and it turned blue last time but told me it would be fine. I ended up being there for 4 hours, and I knew something was off when she kept looking at my hair and saying 5 more minutes. Finally she told me that my hair was pretty much completely sea foam blue and there was nothing she could do. Shocked and on the verge of tears I suggested cutting it off, so I went from a couple inched below my shoulders to right under my jaw. My hair was completely killed by the bleach, and when the other hairdresser cut then diffused my hair, he ended up burning the whole back of my hair. It was crunchy and stiff. Worst of all I ended up having to pay for it all. It's been over a year and my hair is still recovering. read more

Not only is the cut amazing, Mike was also incredibly patient with me. I wasn't able to fully articulate what I wanted and he worked with me until we got the cut just right. My day started awfully after waking up to some shocking revelations I'd only seen in chick flicks or one of those fake reality shows about really tan and loud italian people partying next to some shore all the time. It was snowing for the first time this winter, and also really fuckin cold outside that I thought about canceling my appointment to stay inside and stuff myself with with double chocolate cheesecakes until my neurotransmitters start firing some intense serotonin. Anyway, I decided to go to my appointment anyway because I'm a conscientious person. I sit down in the chair, mutter something unintelligible to him through my semi-frozen lips about what I want with my cut, show him some pictures of hot asian girls on my phone. 3. Jason washes my hair. It feels good. Then he starts messaging my head with the conditioner. Dude really knows how to apply pressure and use his fingers. I don't want to say no more. 4. Back to the chair, he starts cutting in silence. I mope in silence about the aforementioned chick drama. Look at my reflection in the mirror from time to time until my vision gets blurry from staring. Mope some more. 5. If you read my previous review, you'll note that finding a stylist is such a stressful task for me, I tend to completely neglect my hair appearance until it's reached emergency status. That's exactly what happened when I heard Erin left V Vegaz. Instead of just trusting that they'd have another fabulous stylist for me, I freaked out and went into hairdo lock-down, which always ends badly. Finally, I got sick of my hair looking lame and made an appointment with a new stylist, Ellen. Man, I wish I'd done that sooner. Ellen is, in a word, aMAZing! I learned she's been doin' 'dos for the better part of a decade, having had a solid client base at a salon in Columbia for 7 years before moving to STL. She gets to know her clients' hair so she can provide them with the best, most flattering and manageable cut for each individual. Ellen noticed the paint in my hair, the new regrowth after some postpartum hair loss (yeah, they don't always tell you about that part, ladies) and my wonky cowlick pretty much as soon as I sat in her chair. All slightly embarrassing things to have noticed, but that's her job--she was getting to know my hair to make my new 'do work for me. And did she ever! I got a bob with bangs, a huge departure from the hairstyles I've sported for many, many years. I haven't had bangs since I was eleven years old and was sort of terrified I'd hate them--but I abso-freaking-lutely LOVE my new hair. And I had a blast hanging out in Ellen's chair, chatting away while undergoing this fun and fabulous transformation. I'm new to St. Louis and was in search of a quality and reasonably-priced salon. After reading the reviews on Yelp I tried V Vegaz and definitely was not disappointed! Everyone was very friendly and Michael was fantastic!! I was looking to go from a light highlighted blonde to a warmer dark blonde. After sharing a picture I liked, Michael came up with a plan to create the effect and got it just right! He talked me through every step of the process and listened to what I liked and didn't like. After coloring, he gave me a great cut and because we had extra time in the appointment he styled my hair with a curling wand! He was enthusiastic and fun to talk to. The reviews are true. Especially the ones about Ellen. She's amazing. A few weeks ago, I decided it was time to shake things up. For my whole life I've had a pretty long mess of hair. It's pretty when I want it to be, but for the most part it's a huge pain and I just put it up in a clip every day. For years, I've wanted to attempt short hair, but because it's wavy/curly/abundant, stylists always talked me out of it. "Oh, it will be bushy!" "If it gets humid it will be a poof ball!" "Let's just keep it at your chin." Always believing them, I'd get some halfway decent haircut that was just OK. When I sat down at V Vegaz and told Ellen my plan to chop all of my hair off, I was super excited. And she didn't balk. She did ask if I'd recently gone through a breakup or crisis. I asked her to define "recent", and I fell within the parameters of sanity, so she agreed to do it. I showed her a Pinterest board of hairstyles I liked (look at me bein' all social media savvy), and she asked some great questions to nail down what I wanted. In the end I pointed at her adorable hair and said "I want your hair. Just give me your hair." And that she did. Ellen is apparently THE person to see for short cuts, and she gets a lot of clients like me who are ready to just take the plunge. She informed me that I have the perfect face shape for short hair, and those other stylists were just scared to cut short hair. She gave me a fantastic cut full of texture (see my picture). I've never gotten so many compliments on anything. Ever. And I'm totally in love with it. I've never felt that way about any haircut. Ellen's also super funny and easy to sit with for an hour or so. The salon itself is beautiful, they play good music, prices are competitive with other nicer places, and they offer you hot tea or coffee first thing. Thanks, Ellen! Dear Yelpers, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. My hair was a long, stringy, uneven (because I tried to cut it myself, yo) mess. I went to different salons in St. Louis and was unimpressed every time--I don't want to be treated like I'm in a herd of cattle (*coughPhilipJohnsoncough*) or have my Salon Buzz killed by an overzealous stylist who wants to sell me everything she's pumping in my hair (*coughDZinecough*). Yelp to the rescue. I saw these amazing reviews for V Vegaz and knew right away that I had to make an appointment. From the time I walked through the door, I knew I had found my salon home. The decor is dark, witty, and well-executed, girly without screaming 'girly'. Antique furniture plays off of teal and black walls, silver accessories, and glittery skulls. The music is eclectic, not too loud, just right--it really added to the experience. My new Hair Savior is Jason, who didn't really say much, looked at my pictures, said "I can do that," and had me out of the chair with much less hair and looking great less than an hour later. He is silent and really meticulous, and it's great. Not only did he give me the style that I wanted, but he tailored it to my thin, fine hair. I finally found a great stylist in a comfortable place with good music and laid-back people! This is what I was looking for, and thanks to Yelp, it finally happened. I have had a lot of bad haircuts. My curls have never been treated well by salons. And I hate making conversation with strangers. If that sounds like you, then you need to go to V Vegaz and ask for Jason. As many reviewers here point out, Jason is fairly silent. He talked to me about my hair enough to figure out what I needed. He taught me what I was doing wrong and how to make it better. And then he let me chill in the chair while he worked. I've been there three times now and never had a bad experience. I love him. I love the salon and the staff. I love my hair after Jason has worked on it. You think fifty dollars is too much for a haircut? If you have curly hair like me and Jason cuts your hair, you're looking at $50 every 10-12 weeks probably. That's $4 a week to look fabulous. Seriously - do the math and book an appointment. Had my hair cut (by Ellen) and colored (by Jacquie) a few days ago and got a really goodt job by both! The place was nice, the girls were personable, was offered a drink on first arriving, didn't wait past my appointed time. All good! I do see the last reviewer says there is a 15% student discount and I am pretty disappointed I didn't receive this....I paid a pretty penny that day and 15% sure woulda helped! ******************************************************** Edited. Every time I see a new review pop up, it reminds me how irritated I am that I wasn't given the student discount. Both the stylist and the colorist knew I was going to school (based on our conversations) yet no one thought I might want to know about the discount? Ohhh, I think I am in love. I went here yesterday for color correction (see my Paul Mitchell School update). This place is ADORBS. The woman at the front desk was super friendly, and I loved the top-notch service. Was offered coffee, hot tea, or water as soon as I checked in, and they took my coat and hung it in a fancy vintage armoire. Yep...I'm pretty easy to impress. This place was upscale without feeling stuffy or snobby. Collette fixed my hair. She was easy and fun to talk to, but not annoyingly chatty. One thing I noticed as different is that, after getting my hair washed and conditioned and a really relaxing scalp massage, she asked if I wanted my hair styled straight or wavy. Oh, fun! Because my hair is a weird morph of straight and wavy, usually people default to straightening my hair without asking. Collette says they specialize in curly hair, so I think they have fun with it. So I said sure to wavy! She was able to give it some fun curls using a little product and a diffuser (a sci-fi looking space gun gentler hairdryer I'd never seen before) so I was really pleased to see you could do that to my hair without having to fry it. She picked the perfect color to fix my nasty green-blond streaks and blend it with my natural brown. And my hair looked pretty cute when I left, and I wasn't charged extra for the style (that I know of, at least). The color correction cost $50, and I was actually expecting more, so that's cool! One thing to note (it probably mentions this in other reviews, but I'mma say it anyway), is that they are "departmentalized." Meaning that the stylists specialize in one thing. I needed a cut and a color, and will have to go to two different people at two different visits for that. If it is important to you to get everything you want done in one visit (if it's more than one thing), then look elsewhere. But if you are willing to go back another time, then I would suggest V Vegaz because I do believe that specializing in one field of cosmetology really causes the stylist to excel at what they do. You're a guy, right? Sure you are. And you have to get hair cut on a semi-regular basis so you don't look like garbage at work? Of course you do. The "saloon" or "knockouts" scene is a little too kitschy. Billy the Barber is the solution. I strolled into V. Vegaz on a whim and got an appointment with the first available human willing to cut my hair in exchange for money. It happened to be Billy. The dude will offer you a cold beer and give you an impossibly tight fade before you're ready for another thirst-quenching Busch. Get modern or classic styling in a very cool venue at a very reasonable price (it'll surprise you) and enjoy the included straight razor neck touch-up that would make your grandpappy proud. I'll be back. And you can tell your friends I said that. *Additional awesomeness: Had my 7yr old daughter with me and the staff and stylists were truly welcoming. Lillia did her nails (with incredible attention to detail!!) while Billy was transforming me back into a dapper gent. Gracious, thoughtful, and classy is the best way to describe the folks at V. Vegas. That was a real treat for my kiddo, and is yet another reason they earned my repeat business. Reserving the 5th star only for consistency. I'm jumpin' on the five star bandwagon for V Vegaz. From start to finish this was the best experience I've ever had at a salon...EVER. The whole store is beautiful, comfortable and well laid out. I was immediately greeted, told that it would be a quick wait and asked if I wanted a beverage. In less than two minutes I had a cup of green tea in hand and was sitting down to consult with both Jaimie (cut) and Collete (color) on what I wanted. They busted out a Kindle to look at some photos because I'm one of those folks that walk into a salon and have no freaking idea what to get done. Based on the photos I liked, Jaimie meshed two cuts together that literally created the best cut I've ever had. She was also kind enough to dissuade me from trying to get a cut that probably would have been too drastic. Collete based the color on the cut and listened to what I had to say. They were both wonderful and my color is perfect for the summer. Folks, this isn't Great Clips. You're gonna pay for what you get (it ain't cheap) and if you're like me you'll be quite happy to hand them your money once you see the results. read more

I've been going to V Vegaz for about a year now and love it. I've tried several salons in St. Louis and this one is by far my favorite. Their location is great and they just expanded so it's very spacious. They even offer nail services now. The salon is always clean and organized and the front desk staff is always very easy and helpful. I've even purchased a few products that I wasn't satisfied with and returned them with no problems at all. Peery is my stylist and shes amazing. The other stylists are all very friendly, outgoing and have great hair... kind of important, right? My only complaint is their cancellation policy, they're very strict. I canceled a bang trim, which I don't think should even require an appointment (and costs $10 or $12), the day of or the day before and they charged me for it on my following visit because it wasn't 24 hours notice. I understand if it's a lengthy appointment and they wont be able to refill that time slot but a. this was a bang trim which takes 5 mins and b. they could say "if we're unable to fill this time we have to charge you a cancellation fee" but they don't. Overall though I love this place and will continue using their services. read more

When I moved here three years ago I had no idea where to go get anything done with my hair. I would schedule appointments with my stylist back home around holidays and visits with my family. Ugh. Am I ever glad those days are over!! This is hands down the best salon I have ever gone to. I walked in with no idea what to do with my hair, I was bored, confused and really wanting to have the option of wearing it more naturally... I have a bit of wave/curl, just enough to create a difficult but not totally unmanageable hair texture. To wear it straight I have to use a hot iron, and I really needed a no dry, walk out the door style that wasn't a french braid. My friend recommended Jason to me, and I have since recommended him to EVERYONE who asks me where to get their hair done. You start out walking into this amazing salon. The decor is the first impression of the place, and it is completely reflective of the type of business that it is. Antique crossed with modern, great mirrors, wallpaper, paint. Compared to other salons, this place really has the appearance of a hip and young place. And I don't know about you but I am just about over walking into taupe/khaki salons that are styled like an Italian villa. Nothing against Italy, but unless my salon is in Rome, I like a bit more diversity. The service here is just really amazing. Can I just say I wish I could train my boyfriend to wash my hair the way Jason does? It is not even like you are getting your hair washed at all. It is essentially the best head/scalp massage you have ever had. After that they could probably totally butcher my hair and I would still give them five stars. Obviously though, they did not. On to the cut/style. Jason knew exactly what to tell me to do with my hair and had great recommendations of how to cut and style it to make my life easier and keep my own personal style and keep it looking like my own age, which can be hard in the typical salon. The stylists as stated in another post seem really happy and excited to be at work, which just adds to the great atmosphere of the place. To finish everything off, Jason was able to recommend some products for my hair type and what I wanted to do with it. They worked out very well. And the price is so reasonable. Maybe I am used to paying too much, but I was shocked at the prices here. I look forward to going back every time, it is like a small treat to myself. read more
