My group and I had an amazing time floating down the river. Theo is very enthusiastic and entertaining when providing directions and safety tips. The owner Kristen had terrible communication skills. We went down to get tubes and a few of us grabbed rafts. When we arrived at the 4th bridge, our stopping point, she made us pay extra for the rafts. Mind you she never explained to us that the rafts were extra. Plus when we tried to tell her she never explained that the rafts were extra, she said "Well I said to get tubes not rafts." I recommend finding another place to go. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! From the start the owner was incredibly curt and disrespectful to our party. She failed to communicate well and got mad when we did not understand. Not only that, her lack of communication lead to a payment mixup that was handled terribly on her part. She ended up screaming at us and threatening to not give us our car keys back unless we did as she demanded. Otherwise, the river was beautiful and very relaxing. However, I recommend finding a better place with more respectful customer service. read more

Floating the Battenkill river was lovely, but would use a different outfit for rafting/tubing. Our family made a group reservation and showed up on time. When we arrived, the owner was unusually rude and rushed. During our orientation she dismissed questions about where to get out of the river to meet her, or about safety - even from our kids. She pointed us in the direction to walk to find the tubes saying "it's too far for me to show you." After rafting, when we got out of the river and walked to designated pickup point, she was "agro" accd to our kids, basically yelling at us and insisting we pay extra because we had used a few floats of a different type that we hadn't paid for. There was no signage at the place we had walked to to pick up our floats and no one there from Big Big. If there is a different charge for certain floats, it would make sense to post prices and tell us during the orientation not to use certain floats - they all looked like single person flotation devices to us. The owner told us in a very combative way she would not drive us back or give us back our car keys unless we gave her more money. Super unprofessional and somewhat scarring after a beautiful time on the river. If she had been kind we would have gladly paid - instead we did so begrudgingly after verbal abuse and extortion. Our kids are still upset with how she treated us and a little freaked she was so threatening. Guess the silver lining is it spurred a conversation about how to handle bullying and intimidation if we ever encounter it again. Do not recommend, especially for families - we are shocked this outfit is still in business when there are other options. read more

A group of 8 went on the Battenkill river yesterday and used this company. Everything is laid out on the website. If you do your waiver in advance you are on your way within minutes. Great service! Owners son and girlfriend are sweet people. (They were our driver and guide up to the drop off point.). The tubes are great quality. Advice for those who have never tubed-WEAR SNEAKERS that can get wet. You will walk a few times if the water is low. The stones are very slippery! We were very pleased with Kristen's "Big Big"s service. Make sure you speak directly to her when making your reservation. Big big mistake on the Battenkill. Had terrible experience with this very unprofessional and rude owner Kristen. I had a group of 18 ready to go. We had clarified that she should use my cell phone to text and not my home phone, three weeks ago. On the Thursday before our planned tubing I confirmed that we were still on and she said yes. On the Saturday of our reservation we arrived to have her running out yelling that it was cancelled. I checked my texts and there was none. She began yelling about people not reading texts and that she was not a weatherman. We left and found other location to enjoy the day. Upon returning home there was a message on my home phone at 10:55 am saying we were cancelled, rather than a text we had been communicating for weeks. By the time of the phone message we were on the road and no text or phone call. Furthermore we saw her tubes and they were very inferior, dollar store quality and not the professional grade tubes we were used to renting at Battenkill Valley Outfitters, BVO, that unfortunately were close due to Co-vid precautions. We definitely would NOT recommend Big Big as she obviously can not manage her business one would expect. read more

How are there no reviews of Big Big on the Battenkill? Well, here's everything you need to know. I have wanted to go tubing down the Battenkill since the first time I heard of it when I was 10 years old and my mom and I were visiting her friend who bred horses in Sandgate. It was the dead of winter. Despite living up here from 2002-2007 and being back a year I still hadn't gone. Kris and I were supposed to go for a hike this weekend but the weather looked to be a bit too hot for the moderate/strenuous hike we had planned. "We should go TUBING!" I realized. From the time I sent my initial text until having everything I needed was super quick, including a phone call (with follow up text) for the parking directions. We let the owner know that her mileage was a little off and the last step of the directions is more like 1.4 miles instead of 2, 2.5. But the spot is easy to find. We arrived and were met by the van, paid easily using square (they also take cash) and were on our way to the starting point before floating back to our cars. The tubes are really well-maintained and didn't lose any air. They were also clean and a nice size with a drink holder. Our ride lasted nearly 3 hours and was awesome -- the views are amazing and people are really awesome. I can't wait to go again- - we've started planning an end of summer trip with our friends. Very quick and friendly service and a super professional business that makes it easy to get to and down the river without any hassle! read more

big big? more like bad bad. worse experience i have ever had. owner was terrible and completely disrespectful and rude. she was terrible with communicating directions and costed our party more money than we should have paid. she verbally combative our entire group and was completely rude to all of us. the river was very pleasant but the owner was definitely not. i do not recommend coming here unless you want to be attacked on by the owner. Went tubing down the Battenkill yesterday and I can't complain about the service of Big Big on the Battenkill. Kristen explained everything to us and was right there meeting us to deliver us to the starting point and was there within 5 minutes picking us up at the end of our journey. The water was a bit cold but we got used to it. The river was higher than I expected only walking a few times. The trip was very relaxing with other people on tubes, kayaks, and canoes sharing the river. Everyone was very friendly. The best part was an additional cooler tube we could tie on to our tubes. After awhile we decided to hang on to each other so we would not drift so far apart. I would definitely recommend Big Big on the Battenkill. Just $25 per person for 3 hours of relaxing fun. read more

Very disappointing experience. The river was nice and relaxing, but the owner was very curt and rude. She said "I'm telling you the instructions now because I don't want to walk down with you." it was a shock to be treated that way but we didn't argue. it only became a problem in the end. first, the road up the pickup spot was very rocky and one of our group members cut his leg open. Then, as we waited for the bus, we witnessed a horrible scene. the group in front of us was very nice (they helped us with our tubes) but when the woman drove up, they got into argument. Apparently the group was not aware that rafts cost double (which makes sense because we had no idea and the woman didn't offer lots of info). The woman wouldn't listen to them and started yelling, which was very inappropriate, especially in front of the twenty kids there. a nice ride down the river was ruined by a bossy and inflexible owner who seemed very unhappy in life. read more
